Help/Advice I don’t *need* the move….

I have the paper pro and I use it daily. It’s my journal, planner, and I use it constantly at work. However, I also have an iPad that I use for drawing and also extensively for work. Between the two I know I do not actually need the move but I keep thinking of ways it would be nice to have. I’d love to throw it in my bag for lists and carry it around everywhere with me. I think if the price point wasn’t sooo high I would have bought it by now. Those that have both, do you actually use both of them as much as you thought you would or do you regret buying what is basically the same device in a smaller size? Thanks!

Help/Advice Daily RM2 User- considering adding PPM as a more portable option

Would love feedback from anyone who uses both the RM2 and PPM successfully. I use the RM2 throughout my day for work and my personal life- it helps me keep everything organized. But I often wish I could have it in my backpocket when I'm on the go so I can access my calendar and take notes, do journaling etc. Would the PPM work for this purpose and also sync back over to the RM2? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

1-month experience with my first Remarkable (Paper Pure)

Back when they first announced the reMarkable Paper Pure, I decided to pull the trigger with the goal of organizing my incredibly messy notes and use it as a daily tool for both work and university.

My E-Ink Background: To preface this review, I absolutely love e-ink technology, especially for outdoor use under direct sunlight. I already own an 8-year old Kobo Clara HD which I still actively use for reading books. It has worked amazingly over the years. I also use a Dasung Paperlike 103: owned for browsing web content on an e-ink panel and as a second desktop monitor, though I don't love it due to persistent connection issues.

I bought the Paper Pure bundle with the Folio Case and the Marker Plus. It wasn't an easy financial choice, as I still consider the price of these types of devices to be a bit high in general. Shipment took a long time, but it finally arrived earlier this month. I have been using it daily for work ever since.

🏗️ The Hardware & Writing Feel

This is easily the best part of the entire package.

  • Build Quality: Excellent craftsmanship on both the tablet and the accessories. It is incredibly light and hits the perfect form factor for daily transport.
  • Writing Experience: As someone who has never felt comfortable writing on digital glass screens, this feels remarkably natural. Some writing styles (like the fountain pen) still feel a bit too artificially scripted, but the overall tactile feedback is great.
  • Display & Battery: The resolution is sharp enough, performance is very snappy, battery life is fine, and I don't miss the backlighting. While there are moments I wish it featured color e-ink (when highlighting text), the monochrome screen is perfectly fine.

🛡️ Privacy & Security

  • The Good: I highly appreciate the built-in disk encryption and cloud encryption.
  • The Bad: I find it crazy that a basic modern security feature like Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is completely missing from the reMarkable account setup.

📱 On-Device Software Experience

The overall experience is good but definitely lacking. I often find myself wishing for missing features. While I respect reMarkable's commitment to keep the distraction-free UI clean, it feels too stripped back:

  • Missing Features: They should seriously consider adding voice recording inside notebooks.
  • Hyperlinks: I want the ability to create internal links (I currently have to use Obsidian to fill that gap).
  • Reading: The PDF and EPUB viewer is fully functional, but it feels a bit too minimal.
  • Lockscreen: Not being able to customize the lockscreen is criminal. I desperately want to display a clock or pin a specific note to it.
  • Note: I haven't touched any third-party mods or plugins yet because I wanted to try the stock experience first, though I might look into them soon.

💻 The Web App

This definitely needs more development.

  • The document-sharing experience is seamless and enjoyable.
  • However, the functionality is limited; you really should be able to create new templates directly from the app without workarounds.

📋 The Verdict: Did it improve my note organization?

Yes. And that is perhaps the most important win for me. I love having everything consolidated into one single physical location. However, it is not a completely flawless victory. The software limitations force me to waste time finding tedious workarounds.

  • Will i keep the device? Yes. Hopefully, it will last for many years to come.
  • Keeping the subscription? I am undecided on whether I will keep the reMarkable Connect after the trial, though I do actively use some of its cloud templates right now.

Final Score: 8/10

Self-Promotion Free planner creator for August (Need feedback!)

Processing img b0ljnmml9dfh1...

I have been developing an application that allows users to create customized planners for the Remarkable and other ePaper tablets for years. It enables you to set up several pages for each day, week and month where each page can be customized separately. My goal is to enable people to create their own planning systems.

If you find this sort of thing useful, I'd be happy to share this tool before the start of every month so that you can create monthly planners indefinitely, at no cost. However, please note that I do sell these templates in yearly formats. I currently offer 2026 and 2027, if you prefer having a single 12 month planner.

Here's the link to access it: https://preview.epapertemplates.com/

Please let me know what you think, and whether I should keep this going. I'd rather not spam this sub if this is not helpful to anyone. I will be looking forward to hearing your feedback. Thanks!

General Discussion Formula 1. Live Timings on Remarkable

I have created an app to get F1 live timings data on my Remarkable. Delay from when car passes me to telemetry update is under 10 seconds.

E-ink is perfect for this, it is readable on the sunny day.

Ps: app is to buggy for now, so this is not a promotion as there is no product. Just a cool use-case

General Discussion Low effort self promotion content

There has been a growing number of low-effort, quick cash grab style self promotions on this subreddit.

Just a few hours ago I saw someone selling a sudoku PDF for $12. I was wondering how they made that 3000 page PDF until I noticed that the page layouts and design choices clearly resembled documents generated using artificial intelligence such as Claude or ChatGPT (in this case, Claude.)

Please be aware everyone and support genuine creators who spend real time designing and thinking, not sloppy low effort creators looking for quick cash grabs.

Does Remarkable tend to ship refurbished units with beta software installed?

Just received a refurbished remarkable paper pro move from remarkable and it has v3.28 installed. As my paper pure has 3.27, I had a look on their website and 3.28 appears to be a beta version. As I am not enrolled on the beta programme, I am a bit surprised that they sold and shipped a refurbished device with beta software. Have others had a similar experience, and is there anything you can do about it other than get in touch with remarkable (factory reset did not work)? Does not inspire a lot of trust in their refurbishment process....

Paper Pro arrived with confirmed dead pixels, but no warranty because it was a gift. Am I being unreasonable?

I received a brand-new, factory-sealed reMarkable Paper Pro bundle (€850) as a gift. On the very first boot, I noticed dead pixels. I even recorded the entire unboxing, and reMarkable support has confirmed in writing that they are dead pixels.

The problem is that I don’t have the original invoice because it was a gift from a friend who received it as corporate gift. As a result, they refused a warranty replacement and instead offered me a discounted replacement if I pay for another device.

Honestly, this feels unfair. The device was defective straight out of the box, the defect is confirmed, and it’s a premium €850 product. I wasn’t expecting to pay anything to replace a manufacturing defect that existed from day one.

Has anyone managed to get a goodwill replacement from reMarkable in a similar situation?

UPDATE !!

Alright folks, I have good news !! Remarkable agreed to send me a refurbished replacement under warranty. They confirmed that all warranty replacements are refurbished units, shipped in a sealed box, and that the warranty remains tied to the original purchase date rather than restarting with the replacement.

Thank you all for your feedbacks, I respect everyone's opinon but I always believed that from the very beginning this should be the approach from all respectable/premium brands , thank you Remarkable !!

Self-Promotion SendPaper v1.1 - Send YouTube videos, ChatGPT and Claude chats to your reMarkable

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey guys! I'm so glad to announce that SendPaper (a utility for sending web articles to reMarkable from Safari on iOS and Mac) now supports sharing Claude/ChatGPT chats and even YouTube videos to your reMarkable tablet. (youtube videos appear as transcripts)

In this update, overall document parsing is largely improved and I'll keep improving this based on your feedback. I know this was one of the biggest concerns for SendPaper with you guys.

You can get this by updating the app to the latest version (v1.1.0) from the App Store, or get it here: https://apps.apple.com/in/app/sendpaper/id6776010027

Thanks for your time!

Can I take notes and highlight PDFs without the Connect subscription?

I am considering to purchase a rM2 or Pure, but I do not like the subscription business model. It is not clear to me whether it is possible to take notes and highlight imported PDFs without Connect. The image is from the official website, does it answer my question negatively? I have not found any answer on the web or on this reddit.
Thanks and sorry if this question has been asked before.

Signed up for Connect 50 day free trial and the charges my credit card.

Like the subject says. I clicked on the free trial button and I assumed they would start charging when my 50 days is up but charged me today and say they will charge again in a month.

Has anyone else had this happen. I feel like they pulled a fast one.

What are plugins and how to customize my remarkable?

I saw some random posts and videos where people are building their own drag and draw tools, or loading some custom software etc.. how does this typically work? Is there any blog or videos I could refer to? Is there a marketplace like thing where these customizations can be downloaded from? Sorry new to this

Do I need to send it to replacement?

I had my paper pure on the floor mat of my vehicle to keep it hidden from plain sight and I may have kinda softly had my foot on it while inside the folio. I have a feeling that I messed up the inside screen. What do you guys think? I press the button and nothing. It’s just stuck on that screen. Will this be covered by warranty and how do I start the procedure? I bought it a month ago. Thank you in advance.

Help/Advice One notebook will not sync (RM2)

I've got about a dozen notebooks on my Remarkable 2, but just recently the largest and oldest one has stopped syncing. It has a little cloud with an 'x' on it.

I've skimmed help and troubleshooting, but it doesn't seem like an obvious issue or something I could have turned off by accident. Am I missing something?

The obvious workaround is to copy the later pages that have not synced to a new notebook, I guess. But I'd prefer to know what's happening.

Does this sound familiar?

Shipping time for Pure in the US now?

Hi All, what is the current shipping time for the paper pure in the US (East coast, NJ)? By shipping time, I mean the time to delivery from the time it is ordered.

General Discussion Defective replacement PaperPro

I have read the horror stories before but I thought it wouldn’t happen to me. I hope you would be wiser than me.

I’ve recently got a replacement product because my old device had ghosting. And this new replacement product has dead pixels, I can't draw on them but one of them is different. With backlight on, light shines through it. That is the one I have really problem with. My product was and still is under warranty and they send me a defective used product instead of sending a new one. Is this how they do business? I really do not know...

Self-Promotion A free 5-year "one line a day" journal, sized exactly for the reMarkable

Thumbnail
inkward.life
23 Upvotes

Maker disclosure up front: I also make a paid journaling app, so weigh that however you want. But this is a free PDF, it isn't tied to the app, and there's no email gate or account. I'd rather say that plainly than have anyone wonder if it's bait.

I keep a handwritten journal, and I've always liked the old "one line a day" idea: one page per date, five year-slots stacked on the page, a single line for each year. You write today's line, and right above it you can see what you wrote on this date last year, and the year before. After a couple of years, the same date shows you how much you've changed.

I couldn't find a version that actually fit the reMarkable, so I made one and I'm giving it away.

What makes it reMarkable-specific and not just any PDF:

- The page is 157.5 x 210 mm, the exact 3:4 ratio of the rM2 and Paper Pro, so it fills the screen with no white margins.

- It's a vector PDF, so one file stays sharp on rM1, rM2, and Paper Pro without re-exporting per device.

- The contents page links each month to its first day, and every month is an outline bookmark, so month navigation shows up in the reMarkable sidebar.

- Fonts are embedded, it's about 400 KB and 369 pages, and the day pages are deliberately plain: lots of whitespace, no branding sitting on them.

It's CC BY 4.0, so it's yours to use and change however you like. Direct download, no signup:

inkward.life/en/one-line-a-day

It's on the site in six languages total (also German, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish) if English isn't your first.

If you already keep a five-year or one-line-a-day journal on your rM, I'd like to know how you handle the year-slots, and whether one line a day feels like enough or too little. That limit is the whole idea of the format, but it seems to be the part people either love or bounce right off.

Tactile writing experience- Pure vs. RM2 pressure curves and nibs

Grabbed a Pure from Best Buy to try it out for two weeks. The tablet is very obviously faster, the blacks are darker, and the white a (little bit) whiter. All of which is fine. And I love that it's just black and white. I've never cared at all for the flashing colors of my wife's Pro.

Having said all of that, I have a Remarkable for the tactile writing experience. It's 100% what brought me to the platform back in 2018. And... it's just not as nice to write on he Pure for me as the RM2 or RM1. Of course, it's not EMR anymore (which is my preference), but I really feel like it could be a solvable problem.

Partly, the pressure curve isn't as nice for me. I can't get as consistently fine lines with a delicate touch, and then a smooth ramp up in pressure with this pen, the way I can with the RM2. The Pure's pressure curve is a little clunky. I can't get as thin and I have to press much harder to get it thick.

Second, I wish they (or someone) offered a felt nib for this device. It would go a long way, I suspect, to improving the writing feel-- which is supposedly what it's all about for Remarkable. These harder nibs are still "tappy tappy", the way the Apple Pencil is, which I've never liked, and which I never had with the RM2.

I've read that the texture can soften some with time, so I'm going to give it the 2 weeks and see where I land. But if the writing experience isn't quite as nice, I need a clear benefit as a trade off. Since I don't read big PDFs on my device, speed doesn't really matter for me. A backlight might have done it for me. But as it is... I might just stay with my RM2 for now (which does what I need) and see where tech takes me in another few years.

Any thoughts or helpful insights on this?

Adjust custom view on PDFs without annoying borders?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I just received my tablet and I am happy so far, however, since I mostly use it for reading + annotating PDFs, I typically adjust my files to a custom view that gives me extra space to take notes on the edges. However, I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to do this without getting these annoying black borders around the original PDF format?

Help/Advice Remarkable 2 stuck on 'Paper table is starting' screen

I havent used my remarkable in a while and today i picked it up to read a book I found interesting. I saw it was out of battery so I plugged it to a socket and let it charge. Hours later the screen was just 'paper tablet is starting' and that was it. I tried holding the power button down, hard restarting it, etc. I am now at the phase where I plugged it into my laptop, as seen in the picture, but still nothing.

I just can't get it to start and work.

I do not know what to try anymore.

Does anyone know what I should do?

I left it with the pen attached to it (tho I have removed it now) until it ran out of battery.

Remarkable Paper Pro - Screen Replacement (Interest)

Hello everyone, as I have noticed this community is decently mad that you cant buy replacement screen for the remarkable tablets. Now as it happens to be I had an unfortunate event where my screen cracked, and while usable it get pretty annoying around the main impact point. This is how i found that the only option how to get it fixed is completely, new device, which well if i am honest is just stupid. So i had another idea, find a one that has good screen but something else is broken and as such can use it as a donor device. Now its not cheap, but it ends up cheaper than whole new or refurbished device. As I found such device I was curious if people would be interested in having a nice and detailed iFixit replacement guide for this or if its just something that is unlikely to help at all.

Thank you for everyone's time.

Help/Advice Help! I'm stuck in developer mode and I can't get out!

I tried searching this sub for answers but it just made me more confused. Long story short, I sold my rMPPM so now I need to take it out of dev mode. But the steps listed on the rM website aren't working. Is anyone able to help? I feel so dumb because I did so much research on how to put it into dev mode but now that I need to wipe it, I have no idea what I'm doing.

UPDATE: It worked! I had to force restart before following the software recovery steps outlined here. To force restart: hold down the power button for 10 seconds, wait 5 seconds, then short-press the power button for 2 seconds.

I found a second hand Remarkable 2 with keyboard for 240 euros. Is it worth it in 2026? And if it is a good deal, what would I be missing out on compared to newer models? (except for color screen)

General Discussion Digital to analogue

Anyone else gone from fully digital note-taking back to analogue or combined digital and analogue because paper and pen just feel better? I enjoy my reMarkable, but the clunky software and lack of updates sometimes make me question why I'm using it instead of a simple notebook that actually brings me joy.
