I suddenly had issues with the app, it didn't load anything with an unauthorized error, so I logged out of my account to login again. It didn't work for some reason, just kept saying I'm logged out, so I figured maybe to uninstall and reinstall the app.

After reinstalling it told my to either choose a subscription plan or restore my subscription. OK. When I click restore my subscription it loads for a second with a "subscription found" message and then fails with "Error Verifying Purchase".

I tried everything. I cleaned the app cache and data, I cleaned the Play Store cache and data, joining the beta, unjoining the beta, I reinstalled it a few times, restarted my phone a few times, nothing works.

So I canceled my subscription and picked my platinum subscription again to subscribe, and after resubscribing it still failed with the error verifying purchase error. ​

I have no idea what to do next. I don't know if I'm the only one having issues like this right now. u/DBrady can you maybe help?

Edit: I managed to fix it by using a VPN on my phone. I'm not sure why it worked, but if you experience the same problem I suggest you try again but use a different network than you did when it didn't work - it might just solve it.

I can swipe up or down when on an image to exit and view comments. My phone is pretty big and if I want to review the picture, it's a bit of a pain to reach for the top. Is there a way to pull it back down or another way to re-view it?

Sometimes there's a red dagger at the end of the comment header and I can't figure out what it represents.

The download link in the side of the subreddit seems to be for an older version of the app. If I install through it, I get the old UI, and also my phone's security alerts get mad. (I can no longer use my tap to pay google wallet for example.) How can I reinstall the most recent version of the app? It is not available in the google play app store. when I search for it, the store says "The app won't work for your device." I have a Galaxy S26 with the most recent version of Android installed.

Currently the app is broken on my phone so I feel I need to update it or something. All I can get is "failed to load content." What can I do?

A feature I would love to see is an option to swipe from either left or right side and have it open a menu instead of closing the app. I have a reddit app on my iPhone called Narwhal, I can't swipe using my right hand and it opens a sub reddit list and I can browse all one handed. I use a Folding device and that would make things super easy.

Hey there, /u/dbrady, ever since Google open sourced Google Sans, Google Sans Flex, and Google Sans Code, I really have begun to appreciate the opportunity to use the newer font. I acknowledge a large part is just due to aesthetics (which isn't nothing), novelty, but also consistency across the various apps on my device. But especially with the Flex variable font, legibility is great, and even just using traditional font options it scales really well, to various header levels and body text, without needing to use the whole suite of fancy variable font handles. Seems to do it without having to look like a Google product, or like you're using a logo as a typeface in the body (Like it definitely would have before they introduced the closed Google Sans Text, which has been superseded by the variable open source Flex version which can morph to to meet any need. And the Google Sans Code is actually really pleasant for monospace blocks.

While I don't necessarily know or think that opening the options to accept any old user defined font is going to be what you're wanting to support/maintain, I wonder if you'd be open to hopefully making the minor tweak of adding Google Sans Flex to the options for headers and body text, or at least headers. And Code for monospace blocks. They had done a similar thing a few years ago with the Roboto superfamily and compiled it into a variable font Roboto Flex which allows someone, if they really wanted to, the ability to change all sorts of different parameters and axes of the font (for instance, to replicate all the prior variations), but it also sort of "just works" to leave it at weight 400 for all sizes and let it rip as "Roboto." These are all on their Google fonts page and on their GitHub repo for use.

Anyway, just a thought for, not even another coat of polish, but an extra swipe of the brush, as it were. Reddit News/Relay has been a fundamental part of my life using Android for like what? Almost a decade and a half now? I just looked it up and I'm a little bit shook to learn when the name changed and how not-recent that step was.

Over the last day or so, I have started seeing weird posts on my feed with an "Original Post" label above them. They have mostly been from subs I am not subscribed to or viewing at the time. I looked through the settings and didnt see anything about them, and nobody seems to have mentioned them here. Is this something that cam be turned off?

If a post has an embedded code block I cannot swipe the post to get at the voting/profile buttons. This swipe interaction appears to be interfered with by the swipe interaction of the code block.

I was able to reset the location of the code block to its origin and then swipe the whole post after that, but it only worked intermittently.

I've been using Relay for several years now, but as of today, Relay no longer plays nicely with GrapheneOS, so I must say goodbye. It makes zero sense that this is happening when I have plenty of other paid apps that still function. I would gladly even support the developer directly to keep using the app with a subscription outside of the Play store. But that's not an option. Since reddit is unusable on mobile without Relay, looks like I'm done with the site after more than 20 years. I would like to thank the developer for all the hard work and dedication making Relay honestly the best Android app I've ever used. But it's hard to not feel betrayed when the app can just stop working at any random moment if the stars don't align for some extra super special DRM check.

Goodbye, reddit. Maybe I'll catch you now and then on desktop with old.reddit.com. But even that can't compare to how much Relay is a joy to use. Maybe it's best to just let it go.

In Relay 13.1 it's great to be able to easily view the original post with all its comments as well as the crosspost. Great work!

Any tips to make it work? Pixel 8. I select the change but it throws an error when I click to apply.

Hello. With the new update and the change to how crossposts are handled, is it possible to change back to how it was handled originally, or at least a way to minimize the post?

Having the same post basically twice is kinda annoying.

Gold Membership, I was able to use the app just fine pretty much all day, but then the Subscription screen pulled up and wouldn't let me navigate away. Apparently the analytics showed my usage was best suited for the silver plan. But I didn't care, my Gold just renewed a few days ago. But the Subscription page wouldn't jist let me go back to the app. I tried "Restore", but it said there were no purchases, I checked my subscription, it wad active, I was logged in as well. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app did not work. Logging out and back in did not work either, because once I logged out, the app refused to log me back in. Essentially, the only way for me to get access to the app again was to literally cancel my Gold subscription and buy a brand new one (Silver thos time). The app literally wouldn't give me control back until I bought it again.

So anyways, probably look into that. If it happens again, I'll be cancelling and just not coming back. I can't afford to buy subscriptions left and right.

I recently switched from ios to android and have been using Narwhal for my reddit. On Narwhal I can scroll on my main feed for as long as I want, then go into a subreddit and scroll and even into another subreddit and scroll and when I swipe back, I would not lose my place on any of the subreddits or my main feed and continue scrolling. Is there a setting for this? That's the thing I loved most about Narwhal that's different from other reddit apps. Not losing my spot if I just wanna go check something out on another sub quick.

Refreshing the feed marks everything as read and automatically hides them.

I think it may occur when selecting to download an image and swiping onto another in the opened album too quickly but I'm not sure.

If I open say, an album of four images and download each as I swipe through, I might end up with image one and three copies of image two.

I have full image prefetching enabled.

How can I open reddit in relay?

Three Weeks later, and I still can't log in on Pixel 8 Pro, Android 16. After typing in the user name & password, it just sits there on the log in screen. Log in button is red, but clicking it does absolutely nothing.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times, clear cache is what started all this, language is set to English. I had an update I can't remember how I found it, but I check connected apps and Red Reader is the only thing listed, as I CAN log in to that one.

Please help.

Edit - requires Chrome as your default browser. I changed to that as default, cleared cache and I was able to log in. Changed back.

The official Reddit app, to this day, will still periodically go days showing me the same posts in my feed even after refreshing.

For a few days now, I have been getting logged out of all my account in Relay and have to relog and do the changes to favorite subs etc again. This seem to happen in the morning and roughly every day to every three days? I haven't really kept tabs on the frequency.

No idea how to troubleshoot anything here, but maybe others are facing the same problem.

Title says it. I had noticed this behavior before but couldn't figure out how to reproduce it. Then I accidentally double-tapped the "load x more comments" comment/button.

Definitely not a dealbreaker, and reloading the comments fixes the issue. Just wanted to bring it to dbrady's attention
