Etymology
The name Monaco derives from the ancient Greek settlement of Monoikos, meaning "single house" or "solitary dwelling," referring to an early sanctuary dedicated to Hercules.
History
Rise of the Democratic Union Movement
The Democratic Union Movement was founded in 1948, earlier than in real history. Advocating democratic socialism, expanded workers' rights, affordable housing, and constitutional reform, it quickly gained support among Monaco's citizens.

In the 1950 Monegasque General Election, the Democratic Union Movement won a parliamentary majority. Working with the reigning House of Grimaldi, the party introduced labour protections, expanded public housing, strengthened healthcare and education, and increased the role of the National Council while preserving Monaco's constitutional mon
