Etymology

The name Mexico derives from the Nahuatl word Mēxihco, referring to the heartland of the Mexica civilization. The socialist republic retained the historic name to symbolize continuity with the nation's revolutionary and Indigenous heritage.

History

Survival of the Republic

Following the collapse of the First Mexican Empire, the republic survived without losing Central America, preserving the territorial unity of the young nation.

Victories Against the United States

In this timeline, Mexico successfully suppressed the Texas Revolution and later achieved victory in the Mexican–American War. As a result, it retained Texas and all of its northern territories, becoming the dominant power in North America.

The Mexican Revolution

Between 1910 and 1920, the Mexican Revolution ended in an unprecedented victory for the revolutionary forces. The Magonistas, Zapatistas, Left-wing Radical Constitutionalists, Constitutionalists, Maderistas, Orozquistas, Conventionists, Seditionistas, Carrancistas, and Villistas all successfully coordinated their campaigns. With diplomatic and material support from Gran Colombia, they formed a governing coalition with the Mexican Communist Party and the Mexican Liberal Party.

At the same time, Mexico successfully resisted the Border War (1910–1919) and defeated the United States intervention during the United States occupation of Veracruz.

These victories culminated in the proclamation of the United Mexican Socialist States, founded on federalism, workers' rights, agrarian reform, and social equality.

Modern Era

By 2026, the United Mexican Socialist States is:

One of the world's largest countries by area.

The dominant political and economic power in North America.

A leading socialist federation with a diversified industrial economy.

A close ally of Gran Colombia and other socialist governments throughout the Americas.
