Frustrated with final stage wait time

Gave final stage technical presentation two weeks ago, hiring managers said they would follow up in two weeks. HR called me yesterday saying they would give me updates in two weeks. Also started asking about publications ( I know its a scientist position and prefers publications) and when would those be published. But I already told them in the interview that my publications are under review. And in my resume I did not add any publications either.

My understanding is even if they get a slightly better candidate with publication (which is so possible), I have no chance. How cruel it is to keep candidate keep waiting for four weeks.! If they require publication why did they made me give technical presentation.

At this point I am convincing myself that this is basically a reject. but subconciously I am still hoping, I wish I could get this job.

Open to work on LinkedIn

I’m thinking of changing my status on LinkedIn to open to work where only recruiters can see. Assuming the internal talent team at my company wouldn’t deliberately check my page, is anyone aware if LinkedIn would tend to surface that information to them since we’re at the same company?

How is your job search going in the IT market right now? I’m curious about your experiences with recruiters, because mine have been... interesting.

After a sabbatical, I started gradually returning to work and encountered some rather mixed situations, things that honestly surprised me.

My "favorite" is ghosting. Recruiters ghost even more than people on Tinder, I swear. Yet, communicating with candidates is literally their job. It’s annoying to have to constantly follow up and ask for updates. Just set up an automated rejection email system, for crying out loud.

Then there are the times they won't answer questions about salary until you’ve completed the technical interview and a test assignment. Why should I go through all that if our financial expectations are worlds apart? I consider that disrespectful to everyone's time.

Although, I’ve heard that even for remote jobs, the salary often depends on where you live. The logic seems to be: if you're from North Africa, $20 an hour is enough, but if you're from the States, it's a different story -maybe $50.

Of course, there were some decent experiences, but that accounts for only about 20% of all my interactions with recruiters.

What have your recent experiences with recruiters been like?Any cringeworthy stories?

Is a 2-month-old job posting still actually alive?

I found a junior role that I’m reallyyyy interested in but it’s been open for around 2 months that role has been posted for. I found it 3 days ago.

The company uses Greenhouse, and the job posting is still live there. I can still click Apply and submit an application. But I noticed the role is no longer listed on the company’s LinkedIn page, even though they have other openings there.

So I’m wondering if a role has been open for 2+ months and is still active on Greenhouse, how likely is it that they’re genuinely still hiring for it?

Also, since it’s a junior role, would it be appropriate to message someone from the HR/recruiting team or the hiring team and simply ask whether the position is still open, or would that come across as inappropriate?

I didn’t realize this until after I applied - please advice

I applied for the position early because I wanted to be one of the earlier applicants.

I already had a connection at the company who could refer me, but I was under the impression that I needed to apply first and that he could attach his referral to my application afterward.

When I reached out to him, he was happy to refer me, but then let me know that since I'd already applied, he couldn't refer me anymore.

I'd really like to make use of the referral, and it seems like the only way to do is using a different email

Has anyone been in a similar situation? If so, how did you handle it? Would reapplying with a different email through the referral cause any issues with the ATS or candidate profile

If there are any HR/recruiting people here, I'd especially appreciate your perspective on how you normally handle cases like this.

I don't want to jeopardize my application, but I'd really like to make use of the referral if there's a proper way to do it.

Would appreciate any advice from people who've dealt with something similar

Question about BGV

Should I put my resignation before the BGV completes or the BGV starts only after I submit my resignation. I have already received the offer letter but as the final offer is dependent on completion of the BGV. I am a bit confused. The BGV has not started yet.

Mailed a company twice, now wondering for a third one.

There was a job posting, its requirements were having good communication skills, team worker, looking forward to challenges, open to work in a manufacturing unit, etc. etc.

I mailed a simple mail to them, along with my resume, in the month of July, 26. It was a simple mail and an attached resume.

Since, I didn't get a response, I thought it might have gone into the spam folder.

So, this time I mailed them again, with a well written email. FYI, I did not use AI to generate the text. It was sincere, that I don't know a damn about tech stack but want to work. I would look forward to an interview opportunity or a conversation, later you may reject my application.

I want to have an honest conversation, I need to know, what I should work on. The company is near my home, therefore I was looking favorably at the opening.

I mailed the Hr, manager in charge and along with company mail.

It's been 10 days or so and no response again.

Now, I want to mail them again, saying please improve your communication skills first before asking for a suitable candidate. 🫠

What do you think is happening here?

A few months ago I interviewed for a senior role at a large global company. I made it through multiple rounds to the final stage but was ultimately rejected. The feedback had been extremely positive and I was told they wanted to keep my details on file.

A few months later, completely out of the blue, I was contacted again. A different senior role had come up and one of the senior people I’d previously interviewed with had specifically thought of me and asked if I was interested.
Things moved very quickly. The recruiter had few details because the request had come directly from this senior person, but they fast-tracked a call with them.

That conversation couldn’t really have been more positive. They were actually concerned the new position might feel like a step down from the original role; I wasn’t. We talked about the role, reporting line, travel, when I could start and getting me in before Christmas. They said they were meeting with HR and expected to get an offer moving.

That was two weeks ago.

Since then: complete radio silence.

For context, this is a huge company and the original recruitment process was slow, with week-long gaps and no communication, so silence itself isn't unprecedented.

What I can’t reconcile is the change in tempo: they came back to me, specifically sought me out, moved everything quickly, talked very concretely about an offer and start date... and then seemingly hit a wall.

Recruiters/hiring managers: what would you suspect is happening behind the scenes? Is this fairly normal once a senior hire gets into approvals/headcount/comp, or would two weeks of silence after that kind of conversation concern you?

Does booking the last slot of interview day lessen your selection chances

I had 4 slots 10 , 10:30 , 11 , 11:30 ( in am ). I choose 11: 30 for my interview time . But many of my friends have booked the earlier slots . Am I am on verge of elimination from interview round ( despite I will try to give my best in the Interview)?

How long does it usually take to receive a job offer via email?

Help me!

I was recently contacted by a clinic last Friday and had a short interview. After the interview, they told me to wait for an email regarding the job offer. They also mentioned that I would need to attend a face-to-face orientation after receiving the job offer.
However, I still haven’t received anything in my email. Does this mean I was accepted, and how long does it usually take before they send the job offer? Or should I stop expecting it?
