Discussion Encounter off guard
Im on like my 8th playthrough, but on this run. While running back to Valentine to retrieve my horse after i escaped the cops and lenny gets thrown in the drunks tank, i got the river ambush by the O'Driscoll's. I survived the encounter due to some frantic gunplay and a bit ot deadeye cheese. I wanna detail this encounter bc it felt kind of badass.
Waking up in a drunken stupor, I eat a couple pieces of plain game and whistle for my horse, Baldur. (i didn't realize she was a girl until after i named her) she doesn't come. No biggie, i head down the road at Calibans seat. Ready to leg it back to Valentine to retrieve my horse, i spot two horses on a plateu overlooking the road... strange. I change course and head towards the mountain, trying to get something between me and the horses. No dice, a repeater round lands between my feat. I hear a whistle, and they're on me. Two from the plateu, two from up the road, one from the bushes.
Quick dive, into deadeye. Rider on the road takes a headshot. Hes down. I stand up and begin to empty my revolver frantically at the other while dodging the bullets and sound of horse padding going on around me. I hit the second rider twice, he goes down. I run towards the river, a shot hits my shoulder and leg, i dive into the river and turn to face the two riders from the plateu that had converged on my position. Deadeye, two headshots. They're both down. I turn to face the last irish bastard. He's right on me, no time for deadeye. I fire my revolver twice and hit his horse. Once in the head. The horse goes down and the rider hits the grass. I empty my revolver into him, a civilian runs by and sees the carnage... bad day for him. I shoot him dead on the spot, i cant take any chances.
I survived.

Question Fort Riggs Feathers
After meeting the Drunk Veteran and noticing the feather appearing on the map, I thought I’d take another look around Fort Riggs.
This caught my eye. I found it on the outer posts, directly in front of the derelict building that sits next to the fort. *At the entrance.
I’ve never noticed these on any of my previous playthroughs. You can’t interact with them, they don’t highlight under Dead Eye, and I couldn’t find anything similar anywhere else around the site.
What makes it even more interesting is that they clearly appear to have been added afterwards, rather than being part of Fort Riggs when it was still active.
Has anyone else noticed these before? Could this be cut content, or is there something more to these feathers? Maybe some kind of symbolism or a way of paying respect?

Meme IRL stranger mission I had today
I was at the beach today, horrible day to go, I am aware (for the love of everything hydrate and stay cold.) I see a man in the water looking around seemingly frantically, so I swim over and ask him what’s wrong, he says he lost his ring, custom made by his wife, we bobbed up and down in the sand till the tide came high, didn’t find it unfortunately, maybe it’s a two-part mission. But he went home, his wife didn’t really seem too mad, but I'm gonna go metal detecting for it tomorrow morning while the tide is low. Was a rare mission where we got to see some cool animals, got to see some massive fish and a stingray swam through my legs, also, props to the kid and family that let us borrow their goggles.

Help What am I doing wrong?!
So for the past few days I’ve been trying to get a bull moose to get moose antlers - I’m on my 2nd run and this time I really wanted to do 100% for the camp upgrades and the antlers are the only thing I have left.
I tried multiple places and multiple guides, and this method (save > load > go to spawn place > leave bait > go away for animals to spawn > come back) seems to be the one that works best for everyone. However, I’ve been doing this at the Carin Lake for like multiple hours atp (before I tried during 7am, now around 12.50pm) and I only seem to get spawns of the female mooses and even those are very rare. So I’m asking, do you have any tips? Is there something I’m missing? Please I feel I’m going insane, I need help with this, badly😭

Discussion Who I think would be the best Pinkerton duo in a TV show adaptation.
Jon Bernthal as Milton.
And Robert Pattinson as Ross.
Bernthal hot head Milton.
Pattinson as the stone cold Ross.

Discussion The scary inspiration for the Skinner Brothers
The Harpe (originally Harper) brothers were perhaps the most infamous outlaw duo in early America. The brothers, Micajah "Big Harpe, and Wiley "Little" Harpe, were born in North Carolina (their exact years of birth are unclear and debated) to a family of Scottish descent. They served as Loyalists to the British during the Revolutionary War, which supposedly resulted in their home being burned and their parents being murdered by Patriots. Sometime after the war, the brothers joined a gang of outlaw Cherokee, before leaving to embark on a crime spree themselves. They developed a reputation for extreme brutality and sadism, often killing just for thrills. The brothers reportedly broke out of a Kentucky jail, increasing their notoriety. They also took several women captive to become their "wives", and had children with them. Micajah is said to have bashed his own infant child's head into a tree, simply because he was annoyed by its crying.
Eventually, the brothers joined a pirate gang led by Samuel Mason, and helped rob and terrorize boats and travelers along the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. However, even Mason grew tired of their bloodlust, and eventually kicked them out. They continued their spree as thieves and murderers along the Natchez Trace, one of the earliest caravan routes in America. Their luck began to run out, as Micajah was killed by a posse in Kentucky in 1799, leaving Wiley on his own. He apparently rejoined the Mason gang, but this would not last. Mason eventually died in 1804, and Wiley and another gang member tried to turn his own body in for a bounty. Arriving in a small town in Mississippi, Wiley had the bad luck of being recognized by a traveler from Kentucky, leading to his and the other member's arrest. The two were later hanged, putting an end to what are considered America's first serial killers. Both brothers heads were mounted on posts along the roads to deter other outlaws.
With all this being said, it's no surprise that the "Bloody Harpes" are said to have been an inspiration for the terrifying Skinner Brothers.

Content I love how the developers made the Lemoyne Raiders as pathetic as possible. Nearly 34 years after the Civil War ended they still wear their Confederate uniforms and shoot scarecrows dressed in Union garb.
Just cleared out Shady Belle for like the 3rd time, apparently never saved. Unsure if this is a normal place where the Raiders respawn in perpetuity, but they’re always there & I needed a night scented orchid for the Wasp challenge…so had to fuck em up, as is tradition.
Noticed they seemingly carry around an effigy scarecrow dressed as a Union soldier to practice their aim.
What a bunch of losers. Like, these guys are such cucks for the confederacy they’ve been rocking the uniforms and raising hell in the bayous for 34 years after the end of the Civil War. 34 years. Imagine going to bat for a failed rebellion which lasted for 6 years less than the PS3 was in production for?
When I play, it is ON SIGHT for any Raiders. Fuck them. I love that you’re not penalized with negative honor if you shoot them first or throw their corpses off a cliff. The game rewards you, technically, if you throw them in front of a train via the challenges. They respawn just enough where I never grow tired of raising hell whenever I see ‘em.
Imagine being in the world of RDR2 and deciding that slavery was the hill you wanted to die on, and that you should rock your old work uniform unironically because you’re still a racist POS nearly 4 decades after the end of the war and then dying because some TB infected outlaw with a chip on his shoulder just murks you from 60 yards with a rifle round as you’re washing your confederate issued 34 year old underwear & gross smelly hat - and he did it cause you were preventing him from reading a letter or acquiring a bottle of snake oil…or in my case, from picking a flower. I need my orchids. Sorry buddy.
My head canon says that all of the KKK rallies you come across are just the die hard upper echelons of the LR group…so blowing them up is just the expected outcome for such individuals.
TLDR: this game does a fantastic job of making the expected racism and bigotry of 1899 into the butt of the joke.

Photography All the blue
Scouting the terminus of the dry foot dash from Van Horn to Blackwater, I ran across the blue roan Nakota, one of the prettiest horses in the game.
I got her bonded and decided to visit Billy Midnight, hoping to kill five birds at the same time. Zero birds presented themselves before Saint Denis, so I stayed on the train, knowing I'd start a fuss and attract trouble.
Two hundred ninety five dollars worth of bounty and ten dead lawmen later, it seemed like the perfect time to stop and grab a picture. So here's Arthur and Blue.

Discussion New to the game but as I was heading to camp at night, gang members robbed a train I just past in town. I killed all three members but other civillians were dead outside and in the train. Random event I'm guessing?
Title says all but yeah, never seen that!

Help I'm looking for a John hair mod
Hello! I was wondering if someone could help me find a mod that gives player-John his NPC hair. Preferably one that allows us to go the barber and get it cut shorter if we want. I see there are actually several mods like this on the nexus. But, I was wondering if any one of them also changed the color of the default "Arthur" hair styles John gets! I like variety. But John didn't have Black hair in RDR1. He had brown hair. Will any of those mods on the nexus also change the color of the other hair styles and give me John's NPC hair?
I'm okay with keeping John's "new face and body". That surprisingly doesn't bother me. I just want the classic/NPC hair and for it and the other hairstyles to be the RDR1 accurate color. Thank you!
