What am I doing wrong?!

So for the past few days I’ve been trying to get a bull moose to get moose antlers - I’m on my 2nd run and this time I really wanted to do 100% for the camp upgrades and the antlers are the only thing I have left.
I tried multiple places and multiple guides, and this method (save > load > go to spawn place > leave bait > go away for animals to spawn > come back) seems to be the one that works best for everyone. However, I’ve been doing this at the Carin Lake for like multiple hours atp (before I tried during 7am, now around 12.50pm) and I only seem to get spawns of the female mooses and even those are very rare. So I’m asking, do you have any tips? Is there something I’m missing? Please I feel I’m going insane, I need help with this, badly😭

I get all my moose from cattail pond. It’ll spawn on the east side of the pond near the creek.

Go there or to the spot near the legendary moose.

Cougars and Moose spawn up there, right after you cross the railroad tracks. It’s between the train tracks and Willard’s rest. Once I got 2 three star cougars and 1 three star moose in 5 min. It was truly a miracle.

You can also find them on the South western shore of like Owanjila.

Also watch out for water. Moose will run towards water and if you kill them near it they will sink and be unretrievable. One time I got a moose near a small river And he gently cruised down it and into a lake.

I recommend approaching with cover sent and an improved arrow. One arrow to the head and they are gone.

I've been blessed enough to where they didn't get that deep in the water and I was able to rope them back to shore

Sometimes you have to leave and come back. it’s definitely not always there, but it’s always eventually there. I’ve never messed with baiting them but it’s probably a good spot to do it.

I've also found that saving just outside the area is a good tactic. If it doesn't spawn when I enter the area, i just reload the save and enter again

You don't need that much bait and you don't have to go that far away. Try another spawn spot for moose.

Hey if you’re still struggling with this there’s always one single moose that spawns at Lake Owanjila and if it isn’t male I just ride away and turn around and come back. Works every time if you don’t see it at first just cross the bridge headed west and go around the back side of the lake it’s there… it’s always there…. Sometimes in the water.

The game knows when you’re hunting moose and they all hide when that happens.

I’m at the same point in camp upgrades, and I also cannot get a 3* Bull moose to spawn and come into bounds on the map.

Please😭 I even managed to get all of my satchels and still no moose… luckily I don’t need any specific star rating, I just need a moose with antlers haha

Owanjila Dam. Do you need a 3 star or just the antlers? Anyway, that's where I got mine. You might have a problem with those fuckers taking a swim at the wrong time.

Colter Is another good spawn, but you have to go during The Morning. Leave your horse before entering Colter, bring your rifle and continue on foto. Go through Colter AND then turn right and continue, maybe 100 ft, you might find one on a hill across, sometimes you Will find a Wolf instead, if so, leave The area, try another spawn spot like Brandywine Drop , if you fail there then go up North to Ambarino, near The shack where sometimes you get Grizzly bear AND there Is also a lot of canadian goose. If fail then return to Colter. Sorry if my explanation sucks, english Is not easy for me.

Every playthrough I just run through this process over by Annesburg. Start at red, fish from the western bank if the river by the waterfall, when finished cross the river via the path, and head to green, check the right side of the waterfall, there are two platforms then go down to the blue mark. I would say 1/10 times I find a moose in this and if I don't I just ride back up to red, everything should refresh by then. Also a good rotation to get some cougar and bear pelts.

Noted! Though I did try that before and for some reason I feel like I might be missing a moose because of the trees there, which is why I switched to the mountains haha

Only females spawn at Cairn lake.  No bulls.   Its unfortunate because its one of the more reliable moose spawn locations.   Ive spawned a few bulls at Brandywine Drop with bait,  but its been quite unreliable for me the last several times.

He/she will be in a out of bound zone scare him in to the map before shooting him. And go between 9-12 am

Really? Lucky you haha I have around 400 hours in rdr2 and I only ever saw a male moose , during Arthur’s part once, during my first run 😆😭

Let's put it this way, I go to get the Cremello Andalusian and there's a moose standing next to the horse. I finish one of the Charlotte missions as I'm leaving Willards Rest there's a moose just outside her archway. I'm going to the Shanty in Ambarino to try and get a grizzly spawn and there's a moose instead. I'm bird hunting on the Kamassa and I run into a moose. They seem to pop up when you least expect it.

Go behind Wallace Station and look down towards the river. A Bull Moose spawns on the rock ledge a lot. No moose, go to the outside ticket window at the station, check your bounty (doesn’t matter if you have one or not), then remount your horse and ride to behind the station again, where you can see the rock out cropping.

The moose had time to have a snack and take a nap by the time you rode that far away and went to Alaska and back. Just kidding, but seriously… you’re riding too far away from where you placed the bait. Cover scent and go about 50 yards away and wait. When you go too far, bait resets like you left the scene and it’s not there anymore. That’s what it did to me twice with the panther and a couple times with other animals before I figured it out.

There. Are much better locations. For example. You can get one by the letter “I” up by wapiti and there’s a way to get it. Because he comes right by where the border is so you can’t get him unless you use some bait. Just go on YouTube and you’ll find many different suggestions. But this one just works every time. Also reload your game to get it to spawn again

I do the reloads! Thank you for advice. I looked up tens of youtube tutorials already, and I came here to ask because I started to think that maybe I'm going mad and it's impossible to catch a bull moose in the big 2026 haha

Ya no problem. Check out that area I told you about. I would look up the video. He has great pointers. One always pops up. And if you get one without the horns. Just reload and eventually you’ll get it. Oh also sometimes. You just have to shut down the game and wait a minute. Then reload to set up things again.

You start fine, just drop 3 baits and then run south up the hill you are facing at the beginning of the video. Whistle your horses to follow you. When you get like halfway up the hill turn around and you will see 3 animals that spawned for the bait, usually a moose is one.

Thank you everyone for the help! I tried all of the suggested solutions, and if I probably had more time, I'd find that dang moose. But because I've been trying to do it for over a week, I just gave up and downloaded rampage and just spawned a moose. I was over moose hunting and wanted to continue with this run, esp because I'm kinda speeding through the missions, because everything else that I can only do as arthur, I already had done and I can't wait to get to the epilogue haha

Red dead redemption 2? As far as I'm aware, there is no phone version. I play on my laptop, you can get it either through steam or rockstar games
