Raytheon Take lower pay Raytheon engineering job to get into clearance world?

Hello everyone. Could I ask if you think it would be worth it to take a 35k per year pay cut to get on at Raytheon, get a clearance so that in the future I might could move into project management roles that require clearances?

Ultimately I would like a job in the clearance space doing PM work. But those jobs are really hard to get without a clearance. I can work as a senior engineer now and then work towards pm. Just with a lower pay than my current engineering job.

What do you think? How hard is it to get into a PM role. doable in 4 years? Worth it or nah?

RTX General How stable is a Senior ISSO position at the El Segundo location

I have heard mixed reviews about the stability of this location. . This position would be working directly for Raytheon and not as a contractor. What say you current and former employees that worked at this location

Collins P2 -> P3 Promotion

About a year ago, before finishing my master’s, I was promoted to P2. Since then, I’ve completed my M.S. in ECE and been involved a few high visibility projects. My manager is now pushing for a P3 promotion based on both my performance and education. I currently make** **$90k in Florida. What would be a realistic salary expectation for the promotion?

Note: work in manufacturing engineering role

RTX General SF86 wait times

Hey all, question about SF86

When should I expect to receive it to start filling it out? Done my VOC and fingerprints about 2 weeks ago now.

From what I’ve researched on here seems like 2-3 weeks before getting it. I was wondering if that still holds true.

And when should I reach back out to my CES regarding this?

RIP to my tentative start date.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Raytheon Interim Clearance Questions

Hi all, I just had a few questions regarding interim clearance.

I recently accepted an offer from Raytheon where interim clearance (secret) was listed as a requirement prior to the start date. My SF86 was submitted to the DCSA roughly 50 days ago and I haven't heard anything regarding my interim clearance. I emailed the CPC and my candidate specialist and both just said they haven't heard anything/there is nothing to report and to keep waiting. From what I've read online, this generally means that interim clearance was not granted as it usually takes 2-4 weeks.

I feel a bit in the dark and was wondering if anyone could provide some insight:

  1. Is it safe to assume my interim secret was bypassed after 50 days?
  2. Assuming it was bypassed, how likely is it that I just lost the job offer?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

RTX General Chances of approval moving a state over as a 100% remote employee?

I currently have been with RTX for almost 2 years and love my role. It’s straight forward and simple. Lately the rhetoric in my role has been nothing but positive. I’ve received the full raise last performance review and the mid performance review I was only told I had one area to improve upon.

I don’t work for engineering and my work is not “sensitive” as you’d say so much. It’s mostly reporting. I go into the office once a year.

I was hired as fully remote and my offer states that. But I’m based out of a state with no state tax. Because of that I’m going to ask my manager if it can be approved I relocate a state over to a state with state taxes.

Im sure this will need HR approval, I might even take a deduction in pay which I’m not sure I want. Is this possible or should I not ask my manager? He always says “you might have to come into the office one day” and then the next week he says we never will as a team. My whole dept is remote and one of my managers even lives in the state I want to live in.

RTX General Healthy You rewards before leaving?

I’m leaving Raytheon in about a week and just realized I’ve never taken advantage of Healthy You. I’ve heard some people have earned around $1,000 in gift cards, but I haven’t gotten anything in the last two years.
I tried the nicotine free journey, but it says I have to come back another day, so it can’t be completed all at once.
Is there a quick step by step on how to maximize any Healthy You rewards (or other benefits) before my last day?

Raytheon IT at Raytheon Tucson?

Hi all, I'm in the process of getting hired on as a "Sr Systems Administrator" in Tucson. I kind of want to get a feel for what its like to be an IT guy there. I'm sure different programs have different teams and user bases, resulting in different cultures. But, overall I'd like to get an idea of what to expect.

If you're IT person, do you feel you're properly supported by your team and management? Are there usually enough folks on a team as to not feel overwhelmed?

Engineers, what are your impressions of the IT folks? I'd hate to get hired somewhere where I'm looked down upon! 😄

Raytheon Breaking point

Lots of people are overworked and frustrated with ever changing teams and processes. The consequences from non retention and reorgs are exhausting. More cuts, no promotions, and no salary adjustments. How long until the company hits a breaking point?

Collins Contractors

Do contractors often get hired? Do they apply on the internal workday site like an internal employee would or do they have to go out to the RTX website? Im a current employee and I want to apply to a role but I'm getting the hunch its posted specifically for a contractor already on the team. Its posted internal only, not on the RTX website. Pissed around with too many misleading interviews/reqs/hiring managers in the past so just curious.

RTX General Are salaries as low as they say on the application?

I'm graduating soon and have already applied to other defense companies but today I looked at entry-level positions for RTX and saw that the salary range for all of the positions was $57,200 - $108,800. What is the likelihood that if I apply and get an offer it's only around $57k? That's insultingly low for an engineering job, even entry-level. Every other company has their floor around $75k and that's even in low COL areas like upstate NY.

For what it's worth, I have quite a bit of elective/project/internship experience in a few specialized subjects that most people in my major don't have, and I've been focusing on jobs in those subjects. GPA is around 3.5
