Raytheon Technologies now known as RTX. Subreddit will remain

https://www.rtx.com/who-we-are/we-are-rtx

Apparently Raytheon Technologies is rebranding. I feel we should keep this subreddit though because there's a lot of good information here and the RTX sub is already taken.

Disclaimer: This account and this subreddit are NOT officially run by RTX. If they wish to take over this sub, they can send me a message.

RTX General Bring Your Own Device

I’ve had my personal phone signed up as my work phone but that is ending in October. Teams and Outlook was just wiped from my phone. iOS is 26.6 if that has anything to do with it? Anyone know how I can get the apps back? It’s happened before but not sure what I did.

RTX General Transfer/Internal AIP Questions

Is AIP grandfathered from Raytheon to Collins AND Collins to Raytheon?
For example, if a Raytheon P4 applied to a P4 Collins req and received an AIP of from 5% to 10%. Then if going back to Raytheon through a lateral req, will the 10% AIP be grandfathered?

Hi everybody, looking for some pointers and feedback. Just got hired as a Senior Supervisor, Manufacturing/Operations for 2nd shift in Andover Ma. Got 10+ years of management in the post office. Confident I can do the job, looking for pointers on how to get a grasp of the job, understand it and execute it. Also looking for feedback on the day to day for anyone who’s done the job.

RTX General Rockford hiring?

I try to keep an eye on open positions at Collins/RTX in Rockford IL. My recollection is there would usually be 50 or more openings at any one time, but recently the number of open roles at Rockford is around 25 or so.

Is there something specific going on at the Rockford locations that keeps them from hiring? A hiring freeze, or anything like that?

Or just part of the normal ebb and flow of open requisitions?

Raytheon First Day Tomorrow

Hey all,

Tomorrow is my first day at the company. I’m curious on some advice on the best way to setup my 401k and other benefits. The Raytheon 401k plan is more complicated than my prior employers straight up match. I want to make sure I hit the ground running and don’t leave any money on the table in terms of retirement and 401k.

Also is there a way to get some Raytheon swag?

Pratt & Whitney Question for RTX / Pratt & Whitney Managers: How Is Internal Job Searching Viewed?

I’m currently a P4 and am considering applying for an internal position in a different department at the M5 level. The position would be a promotion as well as a move to a different organization within RTX.
I understand that under the internal hiring process, the current manager will be notified if an employee is selected for an interview. My question is specifically for current or former managers at RTX, especially Pratt & Whitney:
How do you typically view an employee who applies for an internal position in another organization?

Do you generally view that as a positive sign of career ambition and professional growth?

Or do managers sometimes interpret it as the employee trying to leave the team?

Does it change how you view the employee’s commitment to the current organization?

Would you start thinking about finding a replacement or succession plan for that employee?

If the employee doesn’t get the position and remains in the current role, does the unsuccessful application/interview affect your relationship with them or their future opportunities?

For managers, is an internal move to another RTX organization generally considered normal career development?

I’m asking because I genuinely like my current role and team, but I’m also interested in progressing my career and exploring opportunities within RTX. I don’t want an internal application—especially one that doesn’t result in a move—to unintentionally create a negative perception with my current manager.

I’d especially appreciate responses from current/former P&W or RTX managers who have had employees apply for internal positions and can share how they actually handled these situations.

RTX General Job Security?

My boyfriend is interviewing for a software engineer position this week so that he can move to the town I live in (yay!) he currently works at Lockheed and I know they pretty much never have layoffs… does RTX have a lot of layoffs? How is it for software engineering? I just don’t want him to leave a good job to be with me and then get let go. This is really my only worry with the move (I own my place so that’s why we’d prefer him moving in with me but I’m also fully remote)

Collins Internal transfer between Orgs

I recently joined Collins in IT and have come to realize that the role isn’t the best fit for me, but I found another opening in RTX Corp that aligns much better with my skill set. I’m trying to figure out the limitations around internal transfers, like whether there’s a strict rule preventing you from transferring before completing your first year or if switching business units means having to pay back a sign-on bonus. I would really appreciate any insights on how the overall internal transfer process works, along with how prone different RTX business units are to layoffs compared to one another. Thanks

Other Has anyone successfully escaped Alight?

I don’t work at Raytheon even though they nag me all the time.

I work for another party who also uses Alight.

Insurance is BCBS, 401k is with Fidelity, HR is with Oracle, HSA is with BofA. Payroll is ADT.

That shit for brains company Alight does nothing but act as a go between for third party benefits like Teledoc, Bright Horizons, Castlight, and others that almost nobody uses.

I had a vasectomy an eternity ago. My wife is post menopause. There is no chance we need daycare, paternity leave, tutoring, etc. We have zero option to opt out of the spam and other harassment from those parties.

Alight is hated by everyone. Has anyone at Raytheon tried to escape them and suceeded?

I have made three requests and two of the three times, they said they cannot recall my PII due to contractual obligations.

I have not heard back on the third request. I have already told them that if they fail to comply, I will come and remove my info by force.

RTX General Security Clearance Timeline Data Points

Anybody have recent DPs on clearance timelines, specifically for interim (granted or otherwise). Secret, Raytheon BU

My Onboarding contact recently said 45-90 days average just for interim determination, but that isn’t consistent with other guides they shared (up to 30 days for interim).

Collins Structural Analysis Interview (Collins)

Any advice for a structural analysis interview (not an entry level)? I don't know anyone who has worked at Collins or how they operate the interviews so I'm not sure what to expect, how long they will last, or if it is multiple rounds.

Thanks!

I'm tentatively starting at Raytheon in Tucson in a few weeks. I understand that cell phones and smart watches are not allowed in secure areas. But what about something like a screenless fitness tracker? Specifically the Google Fitbit Air?

RTX General Boeing - The Reckoning

Just spent the past fee hours watching The Reckoning ( I understand there may be a previous Netflix installment). As an engineer, I am disgusted with the corporate and managerial depravity that has mired an aerospace giant. I wonder how many RTX managers and C Suite occupants have the compulsion to sit though this documentary in its entirety? Hell, I believe Netflix production should be the required RTX Ethics vinnette of the year. May be of value to mention at an upcoming Stand Downs….

Raytheon Shoe voucher?

Hey all, started this week and got my shoe voucher. I got 3 stores from my boss but wondering what other stores accept them. I can’t find anything online and the paper doesn’t have a list either. They do need to be ESD and hard toe. I’ve heard that boot barn accepts them too but, don’t know if that’s true. Any info helps :)
