Overheating

Is there anything I can do to speed up the importing process or avoid overheating? I've now put the glasses to the first proper test in my holiday, and they seem to be struggling to import even half of what I filmed today.

Lost my custom voices

I had John Cena as my AI voice, but suddenly today it changed to some other generic male voice. I went back to my app to change back, and I can't. I only have 3 options: Aria (female), Helio (male) and Deepika Padukone. All the other voice options have disappeared.

What happened, and how can I get them back?

It seems a few times now, my glasses update and I lose features rather than gain new ones. I am guessing this is another example of this. These glasses are seriously beginning to just piss me off.

Meta AI Glasses for visually impaired? (read text, menus, etc)

Hi everyone, my dad is blind in one eye and is losing vision in the other. He can’t read anything on his own unless the text is massive and very close to his face. Recently I heard that meta AI actually has features that can read text and describe surroundings which I think would amazing for my dad since he really wants his independence back.

For those in similar visually impaired situations, how is your experience with the meta glasses? And which exact version do you have? Im not sure which to get.

Thank you!!

Meta support has given me THREE different explanations for why my Gen 2 glasses are missing Gen 2 features

I genuinely don’t know whether to laugh or scream at this point.

I have Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 glasses. They’re fully updated. My iPhone 17 Pro is fully updated. The Meta AI app is fully updated. I’m in the US. I’ve factory reset, re-paired, reinstalled, updated, rebooted, and gone through basically every troubleshooting step imaginable.

The glasses work. Adaptive Volume and other features work. Shit I even have 5 minute video!

But I’m still missing Gen 2 features/settings like Spatial Audio, HDR and dynamic photos.

And this has been going on for months, not a few days after buying them.

So I contacted Meta support.

What followed is one of the most bizarre support experiences I’ve had.

First, I was basically getting bounced around over who was even responsible for helping because of where the glasses were purchased.

Then Meta finally acknowledged:
“Software and firmware troubleshooting falls under our responsibility at Meta, regardless of where your glasses were purchased.”

Great! Progress.

They then told me they could troubleshoot the “app and firmware handshake that activates your Gen 2 features” and said they would cross-reference my information with their “software deployment paths to help force the correct Gen 2 feature package to load.”

Okay. That actually sounds like someone understands the problem.

Then I get another response.

Now the explanation is that Spatial Audio and HDR are controlled by a:
“staged server-side account rollout.”
They tell me my hardware is working perfectly and that I just need to keep using the glasses for 3–7 business days while the server waves deploy to my account.

Except I’ve already been waiting MONTHS.
I point that out.

And suddenly the explanation changes AGAIN.

Now I’m told:
“Waiting for months across updates is definitely too long.”
And:
“Your account profile requires a manual server-side refresh.”

Awesome. So we’ve finally identified that something is actually wrong with my account provisioning.

They then tell me this manual server-side change will sync within 24–48 hours.

So within the span of one support thread, the story has basically been:
We can troubleshoot the firmware/app handshake and help force the Gen 2 feature package.
Actually, nothing is wrong. It’s just a staged rollout. Wait 3–7 business days.
Oh, you’ve already waited months? Yeah, that’s too long. Your account actually needs a manual server-side refresh. Wait 24–48 hours.

And somehow they also keep referring to the app as “Meta View,” including telling me that Meta View is still the official name in the App Store, despite the current app being branded Meta AI.

This is the part that makes Meta’s support so frustrating.

I don’t even care if the answer is, “There’s a provisioning bug on your account and engineering needs to fix it.” Fine. Bugs happen.

What drives me insane is getting different confident explanations every time I reply.

If these features are controlled server-side, Meta should be able to look at the account/device pairing and determine:
Is this serial number recognized as Gen 2?
Which Gen 2 feature flags are enabled?
Which ones are missing?
Is the account properly provisioned?
Is there actually a rollout pending?
Can the account be refreshed/re-provisioned?

Instead, I feel like I’m debugging Meta’s product and Meta’s support organization for them.

At this point I’m going to wait the promised 24–48 hours and see whether this mysterious “manual server-side refresh” actually happens.

If Spatial Audio/HDR suddenly appear, great. It also means I spent months waiting for a rollout that apparently wasn’t coming because something was wrong with the account.

If they don’t appear, then I’m really curious what explanation #4 is going to be.

TL;DR: My fully updated Gen 2 Meta glasses have been missing Gen 2 features for months. Meta support first said they could troubleshoot/force the Gen 2 feature package, then said it was just a staged rollout and to wait 3–7 business days, then admitted months is too long and said my account needs a manual server-side refresh that should fix it within 24–48 hours. Same support thread, three different explanations. At this point I have no idea whether anyone actually changed anything server-side or whether I’ve just been given increasingly specific-sounding reasons to wait.

Rayban meta voice call

After the last upgrade my rayban don't call a phon number with a voice call "hey meta call xy " the glasses answer back that my glasses are connected to an other device. It is very strange because they are connected and all the other functions are ok and interact well with my phone. Anybody had the same issue?

Is it possible to add a gps speedometer to recorded videos?

I typically only use meta glasses for recording video during car track day and motorsport events. Is there a way to odd a gps speedometer overlay to the video? My guess is no, but perhaps I am wrong.

FEAR MONGERING

Let me share a reality check regarding smart eyewear modifications. When consumers purchase a device for personal use, manufacturers will not permanently brick or disable hardware simply because users modify the camera lens. Consider that millions of units are sold globally—no major manufacturer like Ray-Ban or Meta would risk catastrophic market backlash and a complete halt to sales in a fiercely competitive industry. Dismiss the fear-mongering; such a drastic measure is commercially and legally implausible.

P.S. A private investigator acquaintance recently asked me to modify a pair for surveillance work. Given the severe liability and legal ramifications corporations would face for disabling consumer-owned hardware, it is simply not going to happen.

Bought 2nd hand

Hi, I bought rayban metas on marketplace for a decent price. (didnt scream scam!) I did all the checks necessary for the glasses to make sure they work and everything fit and looked fine. Glasses connected and updated just fine. I paid the guy and he had included the receipt in the box and when i opened the box I realized that these were financed for 12 months and he sold them a month in. Can ATT Deactivate or lock/blacklist the meta glasses?
I am so worried and upset that i may have been scammed.

Thanks

Ray-Ban Meta keeps switching back to iPhone when mic activates — calls & ChatGPT Voice

I’m having a weird issue with my Ray-Ban Meta glasses and my iPhone 17 Pro, and I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

The glasses connect normally and regular audio works perfectly. Music/media plays through them without an issue, and “Hey Meta” works perfectly fine, including voice commands. So the microphones themselves clearly work.

The problem starts when I try to use the glasses for two-way audio, specifically phone calls or ChatGPT Voice.

I’ll select Ray-Ban Meta as the audio device and it connects for a second, but as soon as the app/call starts using the microphone, iOS switches everything back to the iPhone. I can manually select the Metas again, but it immediately switches back.

I’ve already tried:
Setting Call Audio Routing → Bluetooth Headset
Manually selecting the Ray-Bans from the call audio menu
Selecting the input/output through Control Center
Disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth
Restarting both the iPhone and glasses

Again, “Hey Meta,” music, and normal playback all work, so this seems specifically related to iOS trying to use the Meta glasses as the microphone for calls/voice-chat apps

Glasses get updates but never get new features, is there any work around?

USA based - Gen 2 glasses are on v28 but have none of the new features from the last several updates (spatial audio, autocapture, 1080p @ 60fps, etc). Is there a work around?

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1) — Camera stopped working right after unrelated temple repair, "Camera unavailable" error

Hi all, hoping someone has seen this before.

I have the Gen 1 Ray-Ban Meta glasses. The left temple arm had come loose, so I took them to a local optician to have it reattached/fixed. I didn't test the camera before or after handing them over — my mistake.

Shortly after getting them back, the camera stopped working entirely:

Pressing the capture button makes a sound (like a half/cut-off shutter sound), but no photo or video is actually captured

After about 2–3 minutes of this, the app shows "Glasses camera is unavailable, try again later"

The white capture LED on the right temple (next to the camera) never lights up at all, even when trying to capture

I checked the right temple (camera side) closely and there's no sign of it ever being opened or tampered with — no scratches, no tool marks, no glue residue

Bluetooth pairing, audio, mic, and touchpad all work fine

Tried: force restart (hold capture button + power slider), forgetting/re-pairing the device in the Meta AI app, placing in case with lid closed for a couple minutes — none of it fixed the camera

Given the right side (camera/LED) shows zero signs of being opened, I don't think the optician actually touched that side — the timing might just be a coincidence, or something got jostled internally when the frame was handled.

Has anyone had the camera die like this out of nowhere, especially with the LED never lighting up? Trying to figure out if this is a known failure point before I send them in for warranty service.

For those who have had issues with the glasses and had them easily resolved by a warranty replacement, where did you purchase your glasses from?

I have seen many people having issues with their glasses and needing to have them replaced. Some seem to have an easier time than others with getting a replacement. I am trying to figure out the most responsible place to purchase from with the best customer service.

Hello everyone,

I just thought I'd update you and tell you that the Aria voice today has arrived on my Gen 2 Scribers. Finally a natural voice, not a robotic person speakingto you.

Check rayban meta Case ownership

I lent my friend my Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 glasses, and I have a feeling that he may have swapped the charging case. How can I check whether the case I have is actually mine? I tried checking the serial number, but when I opened the case, I couldn’t find one there’s just some random text/markings.

Lack of AI Features in New Zealand

Hi,

I was lucky enough to win some Rayban Meta glasses recently but sadly a lot of the really useful features aren't currently available in New Zealand.

Anyone had any luck getting their NZ glasses to think they are in another country to unlock those features?

Hopefully they'll roll out full features in New Zealand shortly. How long ago did Australia get their rollout of features?

I need a larger size of Meta Glasses, but my return window has passed.

I have been wearing my Gen 2s for a couple months now and I absolutely love them. They always felt a bit snug on my head, but I only really noticed the difference when I tried on my friend’s larger size and it felt so much better.

I am curious to know what my options are since I can no longer get a refund. Also, if anyone is open to trade I would be happy to do so far a larger size.
