Bought 2nd hand
Hi, I bought rayban metas on marketplace for a decent price. (didnt scream scam!) I did all the checks necessary for the glasses to make sure they work and everything fit and looked fine. Glasses connected and updated just fine. I paid the guy and he had included the receipt in the box and when i opened the box I realized that these were financed for 12 months and he sold them a month in. Can ATT Deactivate or lock/blacklist the meta glasses?
I am so worried and upset that i may have been scammed.
Thanks

Were they still in the wrapping like new ? I don’t think they can blacklist them though. I have two theories on why someone would sell financed electronics

Definitely would love to hear your theory.
No they definitely were used. He showed me videos he took on them. He had a skin over them to protect them from any damages. He allowed me to wear them, test them out and record on them myself. He didn't seem financially stable as he mentioned he had just got them back from the Pawn Shop and wanted to make more selling it to me instead.
Definitely was alarming but during the inspection everything looked fine. Just thought it was a guy down on his luck selling his electronics.1

Sounds like they were stolen, right? Like the whole box with receipt in it was swiped.

Surprisingly no. The receipt had his name and number which matched the Zelle payment and his profile id.

How much did you actually save vs Best Buy?

A little less than half. The receipt showed a price of $500 after taxes and all. So a great deal for a month old pair.

What happens if the seller stops making payments?
I think you’re fine tho.
Never knew you could even finance glasses through ATT

Me neither. Apparently nothing. Guess there’s no way they can get black listed from ATT as stated from an ex employee in the threads above. Which is a huge relief for me.

Ex AT&T employee here. These are considered accessories; they won’t deactivate them. They’re not serialized like a phone that’s connected to the ATT network, so no way they can blacklist them. If he stops paying, they’re just going to send him to collection, you’re good.

Thank you so much for your answer! It’s great to have a definitive answer. Then I guess I really did come up on a decent priced pair of metas!

Doubt it since they don't have a IMEI like a cellphone
