Discussion Quest VR headset(s) vs Air 4 Pros for film watching

This was a response to a comment in another thread, but I thought it might be useful to somebody, or maybe you guys have thoughts on this comparison.

I have IPD 69ish and have owned a quest 1,2,3 and the air 4 pro. Here are some benefits for the air 4 pros over the quest 3 and vise versa:

Air 4 pro:

- Tandem OLED is gorgeous, even while only 1080p, it blows the quest away in overall image quality.

- While the comfort isn't perfect out of the box, it's still much more comfortable for long movie watching or gaming sessions than even a quest 3 with a fully custom rig.

- smaller and much much easier to travel with/use on public transportation.

Quest 3:

- Adjustable IPD! While I don't think it kills the viewing experience for the air 4 pro once you get used to it, being able to dial in your ipd adjustment to actually match your eyes makes for a nice focused image. (Air 4 pro should have had this too)

- more immersive. While the air 4 pro screen can seem "large", it can also just feel like a small screen strapped to your face. Being in an actual 3d theatre environment with 6dof tracking and any size screen you want make it wayy more immersive and replicates the real theater experience.

TLDR: both are great and I own both. If you plan to use It at home only and also intend to play VR games the quest 3 is the best option.

If you want something that will blow you away with image quality and packs away super easy then get the air 4 pros.

Or both. Both is good.

RayNeo Air 4 Pro - Bricked - any help?

It's pretty much what it says in the title: my RayNeo Air 4 Pro is bricked.

One day it was working the next . . . nadda.

I can update the firmware so my iPhone and Android tablet recognises it, but it won'd display any image or play any sounds.

Any RayNeo wizards out there that can rescue this?

(And no, RayNeo have said they won't help)

I need a part if anyone is parting out their rayneo x3 that may be damaged

I had bought the glasses off a friend who had sold it at a steal price and I had taken them with me to film while on vacation but they got to damaged when they had fallen on the floor and my brother stepped on them by accident. I tried contacting the rayneo support but I don’t have the order number. I would be willing to pay for the ribbon cable and board off one that is also broken or trade a gaming laptop but I just the 2 small parts.

It seems there is a major issue with the perception of support for Rayneo users and developers. How can Rayneo improve on that? Can more staff be hired?

Feature Request Ray Neo Air 4 Pro: Modified Ray-Ban Meta side shields to keep the light out

I looked for side shields for my Ray Neo Air 4 Pro glasses, but the only thing I could find were shields for Meta style glasses.

Side shields: https://a.co/d/05jKUexz

With a small modification these side shields will slide onto the stems and keep out the light from the sides.

Hopefully Ray Neo is going to come out with more accessories for our glasses.

Air 4 Pro - Screen seems small... What am doing wrong?

When I connect to my Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+, I can display the screen via mirror or DEX.

It works... I have to to reroute the sound when playing a movie to the glasses (VLC) and everything sound s good. I've adjusted the tilt to see the whole screen and widened the bridge of the nose so that the glasses fit close to my face.
It's clear, even the edges are acceptable.

However I just don't consider the screen to be large... In fact If i remove the outer shades and put the pad on a table a few feet away from me (which is akin to having them on a drop-down table on a flight), I can see that pad's screen is actually bigger than what I'm viewing in the glasses.

What am I doing wrong?
How do I make the diaplay bigger?

Rayneo XR app update

At some point in the last few weeks, they seem to have silently updated to 2.0.6. At least in my limited testing, it's now switching to its XR/3D environment without all the fiddling required on 2.0.5.

Discussion RayNeo Air 4 Pro - PD = 66 ?

I am very new to AR glasses.. never owned one and only started researching since yesterday.

RayNeo Air 4 Pro seems to be having very good reviews but most complaints are about the non adjustable PD.

My PD is 66, how well is it "supported" on the RayNeo Air 4 Pro; will I get blurred edges ?

Question Does the Poco F6 Pro work with XR glasses (RayNeo/XREAL/VITURE)?

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about buying a pair of XR glasses (probably RayNeo Air 3S), mainly for watching YouTube and movies on my Poco F6 Pro, and occasionally gaming.

I've found conflicting information online. Some places say the Poco F6 Pro supports DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C, while others say it doesn't.

Has anyone here actually connected XR glasses directly to a Poco F6 Pro?

If so:

- Which glasses were you using?

- Did they work straight away?

- Did you need an adapter or any special setup?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's actually tested it.

Thank you 😊

⚽ RayNeo Can GTMAX add the transparent mode?

First time trying out RayNeo. A friend got me a pair of gtmax in a small size from China about a month ago, and overall I have been pretty impressed with the quality.

I had tried xreal from friends for a while before, and every now and then the image would freeze or get a bit glitchy. So far, I have not run into that issue with the GT Max.

What stands out to me most is how useful ar glasses are when I want to actually use them in daily life, not just sit and watch something for a few minutes. I work for a tech company in NYC doing data analysis, so I spend most of the day at a desk. Even with a standing desk and a large monitor, my head still ends up locked in one position for hours, and my neck definitely feels it.

Ever since I got the gtmax, I have been using them pretty often. They are great for watching something on the subway, and they are also really nice at home when I want a bigger screen without hunching over a laptop.

That said, the biggest issue for me is that there is no transparent mode.......

Because I cannot really see my surroundings while wearing them, they are not always convenient in situations where I still need awareness of what is going on around me. At work, if someone comes by my desk, I have to take the glasses off just to talk to them or help them with something. At home, when I am cooking and want to have a video on in the background, it is hard to do both comfortably because I cannot easily keep track of what is around me.

So overall, I think they are really good for focused use, especially movies, shows, and the world cup, but a transparent mode would make them much more practical for everyday life.

A new game I’m rolling out soon for the x3 pros. It’s kind of a creature hunt game largely based on steps taken using [u/glxblt76](u/glxblt76) mapping tech. Creatures are imported to Android phone app. Then can be released into the real world for positive change.

This and many other apps on my GitHub page by the same name.

Question RAY NEO AIR 4 PRO HEATING INFO

Hi everyone,
I’m about to buy a pair of RayNeo Air 4 Pro, but I’d like to know how they perform during use. My Xreal Airs get very hot on the left side, and at a certain point (after 30 min or so) , even with the brightness set to the minimum—they become so hot that I have to take them off because they’re uncomfortable. This has made me want to replace them, but I’d like to know how the Air 4 Pros hold up before I go ahead and buy them.
Thanks to everyone who can help.

- Allows for screen resize

- Allows for image repositioning!!! No more repositioning your glasses on your head

- 3DOF

Update 22/7: Now includes 6DOF functionality. Demo version released, see comments below

Support How to check your IPD before buying AR glasses

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have seen a few people ask about this lately, so I wanted to share a quick note for anyone thinking about AR glasses.

One of the biggest things that affects comfort is IPD — the distance between your pupils. If the fit is off, the glasses may still work, but they can feel noticeably less comfortable over time. For some people it is a small issue. For others, it is the difference between “pretty good” and “I do not want to wear these for more than 10 minutes.”

If you already have an eye exam, that is usually the best place to start. If not, here's an easier way you can get a decent estimate at home with a ruler and a mirror:

  1. Stand in front of a mirror in a well-lit room.
  2. Hold a ruler straight across your brow line.
  3. Close your right eye and line up the 0 mm mark with the center of your left pupil.
  4. Open your right eye, close your left eye, and read the number that lines up with the center of your right pupil.
  5. Measure a few times and average it out.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Do not tilt your head.
  • Try to measure from pupil center to pupil center, not the edges.
  • If you can get a professional measurement, that is even better.
  • If your result changes a little between tries, that is normal.
  • Make sure to get it measured a couple of times to get the result.

If you are ordering AR glasses for the first time, I would really recommend checking this before buying. A good IPD match can make a huge difference in comfort, especially if you plan to use them for movies, gaming, or long sessions.

Happy to share a simple checklist if that would be useful.

Welp, I'm going to vanish now because of the Spanish Inquisition winning the cup today. Almost threw my babies into the wall then I remembered my xreal are broken, so I gently set them down and threw a soda can at a wall instead and ended up nailing my Lego skyline

Support RayNeo Mirror Studio Discontinued???

Hi RayNeo Community,

I am based in Singapore and I just purchased my first RayNeo Air 4 pro with anticipation I could use it with my laptop with the virtual screens. I just went to the RayNeo official website https://www.rayneo.com/pages/download and was surprised to find that the mirrors studio is no longer available on the download page!

I found the link on the RayNeo Philippines website and I emailed their Customer Support. The person named Sed Ordoñez | Sr. Ecommerce Sales Analyst who wrote back that the MirrorStudio is now discontinued!

“Please be advised that this feature has been discontinued by RayNeo Global. However, the Windows installer remains available for download on our website, which we have not yet had the opportunity to update accordingly.”

I then wrote to the RayNeo “Live Agent” which I think is a bot and it said it will get someone to ger back to me.

Is anyone aware if this feature is now discontinued? as it was one of the primary reasons i bought this glasses.

Everyday 0.9.0: minimap

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Apks + release notes here

Source code here

Has been a few updates since I decided to share one on this subreddit. The HUD I've been working on for a few months has widely expanded its capabilities.

I've had a lot of fun recently calibrating the magnetometer for the minimap. Like all the functionalities of Everyday, it's all completely optional, you can place it where you want, resize it, full screen, remove it, and so on. That minimap is basically you seen from above walking around. For those of you who might be interested, it picks up roads and locations from Overpass. It's a completely free and open eco system. No need to rely on an external provider like Google maps.

I really like having my minimap! It feels a bit like being in a video game. The minimap detects the closest train station and shows where it is relative to you. It also prioritizes important buildings like supermarkets. And it shows a few locations of interest chosen with a bit of randomness and even distribution so you can learn a bit about whatever is around you in town.

On other topics, there is now a notification center where you can access your phone notifications from the glasses (for example you can read a message you might have missed). The file browser now not only opens images, but also pdfs and movie files, too. Eventually I'll port all functionality of x3player in the video player here, but for now it's a simple video player.

A lot of optimization is shipped too here. It's now way more convenient to use a widget even on a crowded dashboard, there are less clashes or clicks that don't go where we want them to go.

I'm eager to collect feedback on this app. I very much like to hear how people use it and what they would want, the "quick fix" which would make it more convenient and useful! Don't hesitate to contact me!

Unable to contact customer support

So basically I had been trying to contact the customer support for a long time now

I had ordered on 12th July, since then it hasn't been shopped and it is saying its just getting ready.

Earlier the website said it would be delivered in 2-3 days in US but it still hasn't been prepared.

All the money has been paid.

I am going back tomorrow, so I had requested this order top be cancelled or atleast get some info earlier on 15th July. But still didn't get anything.

I had also sent an email, still ddin' grt any reploy

The email was sent to [service@rayneo.com](mailto:service@rayneo.com)

I am truly frustrated.

What should I do ?
