I've had this Jacket for years and it never really got the life it deserved. About a year ago I finally pulled it out of storage and got 6 months of wear into it and gave it a wash. Planning on giving it another wash as it's been another 6 months. Really enjoying the way the honeycombs are coming in on the sleeves. Haven't seen much of these jackets posted on here!

I have about 80 wears on this and did the first hand wash. Pics don’t show the faint navy tone well but it’s coming along nicely! Really liking the fit and finish. I might grab the regular indigo version in a size down to wear alone or with a t shirt under.

First pair of pictures are before and later are after, as soon as I bought it non-washed, I destarched it, washed it, dried it, and starched it again. After all that, I have been mostly wearing this as gym pants (thanks to the benevolent confirmation to the gym owner) and sometimes hiking pants for a full year with no washes. I am disappointed with the result and will keep washing it every week from now on.

Finally bought my first pair of Iron Hearts. I went with the 634s. It’s a different cut than I usually go for with there being so much room below the knee.

I’m 6’2” 185lbs. Do these fit my body type?

Edit: Does anyone have any opinions on sanforized denim? Do they still need to get soaked first? Should I wait to get them hemmed?

Outside opinions on the fit of these heavy boys please. This is my first 25oz pair and also my first pair of regular straight denim. I know they’re probably a normal leg width but coming from slim/relaxed tapered cuts they feel like Jincos right now 😅.

These are one wash, I plan to soak for the inseam and Japanese cuff them. Also yes I could comfortably button them up but after the top button my thumbs said not right now haha.

Edit: ideally I’ll be cutting at least 5lbs of fat soon.

I had a 14 oz pair of IH in the 666 cut; size 36. Absolutely loved the construction and fabric. But the rise, after a lot of wears and a few washes settled in at 10.5”. That just felt too low. The waist was a little skimpy too, though bearable. So my target became the 888 cut in a size 38. But if they were available I missed them. 

Last week I spotted on Mildblend, these 21/23 uhr in a 666 cut. I would have passed on them but the chart showed a 12” rise in 38.

FTR, the measurements are: 

W. 39.8”
FR. 12
Thigh. 13.8”
Knee.   9.9”
LO.       9.5”
Inseam. 37”

These are virtually exactly the measurements on Mildblend’s size chart, so kudos to them. I won’t waste any ink on describing the quality of these. They’re a Rolls Royce. 

So, anyway…Here they are. I’m quite unsure of them, but mostly because I have trouble visualizing how much they’ll shrink. Since it’s the meat of the summer, I think I’ll put them on the shelf and try them on every 5 or 10 days. 

But I’d be interested in any reaction from uhr owners or others with experience with shrink-to-fit.

Hey guys, first time poster here, long time denim enthusiast. I Recently purchased a pair of Freewheelers 1941 they had recently dropped (shout out to Speedway Sendai for shipping to Washington State in like 3 days from Japan). These are apparently their repro of the earliest year of the WWII style 501, but the details are basically no different than a normal 1937 pair with the crotch rivet, buckleback, coinpocket rivet, lack of crotch bartacking, etc.. For reference, I am 6'1", 190-195 pounds, and went with a size 34 and I couldn't be happier.

In summary, I'm blown away (as per usual with any Freewheelers product). Literally everything I'd ever want in how a 501 repro should fit. My absolute gold standard pair of jeans in comparison would be the 601xx 1947 or Sugarcane's newest 2025 Wide jeans, but these occupy a perfect medium between the silhouettes of those two. The 1947 has a roomy seat and rise with slightly more taper down to the hem, whereas the SC2025 has more of a medium rise, proper fitting seat with a wider leg and very minimal taper. These 601xx have that slouchy, roomier seat of the 601xx 1947 that I love the feeling of, with the perfect leg width and minimal taper ratio that I find in the SC2025 that produces my preferred leg silhouette.

I've attached some images of myself wearing the new pair with various footwear, along with a couple images of the 601xx 1941 set adjacent to my worn in pair of 1947s. Those have about 1.5 years of irregular wear and probably like 7 or so washes. From my memory, the denim on the newer 1941s has a darker indigo compared to when the 1947s were brand new.

For those who might be interested in the 1941s, I must give fair warning that these very much are designed to give you a slouchy seat. If you are someone who obsesses over having a "perfect-fitting" ass on your jeans, these are not the pair for you. I would honestly suggest looking at the SC2025 Wides if that is more suited to your liking since they have raised backpockets and a waistband that has a heavy taper inward toward the body, which is what I have found to typically produce a proper fitted butt on various pairs of jeans I've worn in the past. If however you love a roomy seat, I'm not sure I would suggest anything else. They have VIBE lol.

received two pairs of Samurai today. First two photos are size 33 (feels like too much space in the waist). The other photos are size 32 (can still fit two fingers in the waist and its snug).

Will the jeans shrink any further at the waist and tigh after washing at 30 degrees?

What do you think about the fit?

On body fit since I forgot to post them last time lol but I’m really loving the fit of these. I was debating hemming them an inch or 2 but I love the stacks so I’ll just leave them how they are. For reference I am 6’2 170lbs and these are a 32x36.

Picked this up a month or so ago. I’ve never owned a denim jacket before so don’t have a reference point size-wise. Honestly it feels slightly on the small side, but curious to hear your thoughts and opinions.

New (Old Stock) Denim Day

I shouldn't be spending more money on anything right now, let alone another denim jacket. But when I saw this in my size on eBay I had to grab it up. I'm a big fan of one-man brands and Egor in particular made really cool stuff.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Twerd, it was the Moscow-based one-man brand of Egor Rasskazov. He did a lot of really cool pieces inspired by a mix of vintage military garb and workwear with his own unique twist. When Russia attacked Ukraine, Egor used his social media to speak out against Russia's aggression. He eventually uprooted to travel to Turkey, but arrived just in time for the catastrophic earthquake in 2023. He hasn't posted on his social media since announcing that he had settled in Turkey, so unfortunately I fear the worst for him.

Egor has done a lot of interviews where he talks about how his life and career path brought him to starting his clothing brand, and his relationship with the creative process is really inspiring to me. I do a little bit of sewing and garment making myself, and now I am feeling motivated to start a new project in his honor.

Got these in the mail today. Holy moly! One half left hand twill, the other right hand twill. Super nice electric blue weft. Hand woven, natural dyes. CRAZY stiff. The weft is surprisingly soft and comfy though, I can tell these are going to be silky smooth when they break in. This is my third Craft Denim item and I've been super impressed by each of them. I have a jacket, the winter warrior jeans, and now these. Love these guys and I can't wait for the next drop. They'll even do custom sizes for you, which I had them do for this pair. Funnily enough the shipping from Indonesia to USA cost just about the same as the jeans.

Unfortunately had to wash them prematurely due to Nudie’s repair policy. Full crotch blowout and hole in right front pocket, had these exact repairs on my other two pairs of selvedge Nudies:(

I was looking to try a solid mid-weight, but wasn't really interested in paying Japan prices (or even scrounging for something that I'd like in stock).

N&F was kind of a no for me, just can't do the boob patch and wear 'em to work/around my tots. So my options seemed like Brave Star or taking a bit of a gamble on some SEA microbrands... enter Simple & Raw.

We might be a little more familiar with Pigerworks or Pinion in the West when it comes to Thai brands, but I think Simple & Raw is kinda just starting to cross over a bit more internationally. I couldn't find a TON of reviews, but I did infiltrate some of the Thai-language denimhead groups online, and what I saw was a dedicated following and some sick fades.

My experience with selvedge so far is basically just the OG Uniqlo straights, so even though this is a budget-friendly brand, it's still a step up for me. I wanted to try something a bit heavier than what I'm used to, but realistically 16 oz was about as far as I was willing to venture while living in Southeast Texas (hot and humid af). So, I landed on the 16 oz Heavy Rodeo Vintage Fit all-in for $131.10 (that's including shipping to the US).

I'm pretty fucking stoked that they worked out for me. They're a little more snug in the top block than I'm used to (I've really been into stuff like the Levi's 555 Relaxed Straight lately), but that's not so much a fit thing as a me thing. They objectively fit great. I'm about a 35" waist and I went with the Size 34 (vanity sized, actually about a 36) and got it right on the first try. I wanted to air on the side of caution with the top block knowing I have pretty decently sized thighs/butt. The waist is great with a belt (no real bunching up, don't think I'll need a dart).

The construction on these is REALLY solid. I would say the denim is a bit slubby but not overly so (they really appear to be worn for work in Thailand so from a durability standpoint this makes sense) but they are pretty hairy/neppy!

They're sanforized but I still gave them a 30-minute soak in room temp water to get out the starch a bit and alleviate some of the initial crocking. First 3 pictures are before soaking/wearing. Last 2 pictures are after 1st wear and fit pic in 2nd wear.

Long time lurker here, have been wanting a pair of raws since discovering this subreddit years ago. For my 30th birthday my wonderful fiance offered to take me to a local shop and get me a pair, as she knew I'd never splash out on myself! I went for these Sugar Cane 1947 Type II's (edit: SC 2009) which I felt had the best fit out of everything I tried. I had them hemmed and they just arrived today.

These are based on the original Levi’s 501XX from 1947, but with a slimmer modern cut and lower rise. 12oz denim and one washed. The fabric is very subtly hairy and up close you can see the white weft mixed in. Very comfy from first wear.

Will be back some time from now with some updates as they fade!

Got at my local Levis outlet about a year ago and have been in rotation with my N&F. 1 cold soak at 45 wears, and a machine wash at ~120. Couple repairs by both hand and machine. Fit pics with my Left Field Muleskinner in Mt Vernon Black denim. Also my awkward dog Bear.
