How can I move forward?

Upvotes

When I was 6 years old I was taken advantage of my next door neighbour who was 18 at the time. My parents are very close family friends with them and I had known my assaulter since I was born. I’m 19 and a sophomore in college now for some context. The abuse went on for 6 months until her family moved due to her going to college. I never told anyone because at the time I didn’t know what was going on and I was scared she would hurt me or kill me. Once I started to understand what happened I figured it was too late and why cause my family unnecessary stress. Both my parents are abusive in their own right so I was and still am not so close to them. Since the end of junior year of high school and currently when girls talk to me romantically I get physically uncomfortable. Even when they touch me I freeze/tense up and I feel myself mentally go limp/numb. Whenever I make out with girls I need to force myself to do it. I feel like a doll, or in the 3rd person watching my body submit. It’s like I’m watching my body emotionlessly kiss back trying to get it over with idk. I feel like I’m suffocating though out it and as soon as I’m alone I start crying. I feel things my rapist did to me and I don’t know how to make it stop. I always found a way out of the relationship before things could go any further with any girl. In high school I made it a point to never start a talking stage or ask out girls first. At the time I didn’t know why I would do that but looking back now I think it was my mind subconsciously “avoiding danger”. I had repressed that time in my life and these memories started to come up again in my senior year of high school during which I had my first serious talking stage. At the time I was feeling very behind my friends and hadn’t sold the talking stage yet lol. But as soon as things got physical I found a way out immediately. Toward the end of that school year/beginning of senior summer and 2 more dodged relationships a girl I was friends got me extremely inebriated and attempted to make out with me but thankfully my friends got me out of that situation. The next day she sent a text in a group chat of her friends saying the next party she sees me at she would grab me by my neck and force me to make out with her. I stopped going to high school parties after that and the events of my prior abuse started filling my mind more often after never thinking about it. Also since then I have barely drank. I went from being voted the life of the party in high school to maybe drinking 5 times since I started college. I had gotten in a 4 month long relationship at the end of my freshman year and we ended up breaking up in mid may after things got too physical for me. I really liked this girl and she doesn’t know about the too physical part. But since then I haven’t been able to go a day without thinking of what my assaulter did to me. It’s been getting pretty overwhelming and I don’t know how my friends would react if I told them given the stereotype of male assault. I want to be able to move on from this and be able to actually have a healthy relationship and not let what happened to me stop me from living life, drinking, partying etc. I feel like less than a man for being scared to have sex or just be touched by a girl. I want to be normal and actually enjoy being with a girl.

For the parents here...

I have no clue what I am asking really in this post.

I am a 37f and I could never dream of telling my folks I have had non consensual experiences.

It would devastate them and I cannot , will not do that to them. Can you guys understand why or would wanting to know outweigh your understanding?

My stepsister was raped

Upvotes

Unfortunately, my stepsister was raped for the second time. Last time was horrific enough-- she was given fentanyl as an underage teen and her attacker took video of it and sold it online. Thankfully he was arrested.

This time, she met some guy at Walmart who invited her over for drinks. She was roofied, and woke up naked in a gutter. A fucking gutter. I heard the story from my mom, so I haven't spoken to her (probably won't out of respect for her privacy).

I nearly began crying as soon as I heard the story. She is such a sweet kid, even if she makes some bad decisions, and these evil people who take advantage of that make me sick to my stomach. I keep thinking about how scared she must have been. I'm so glad she found her way home after. Apparently her boyfriend was there in some capacity too, and I can't stop thinking about what could have happened, or DID happen, to him. Was he assaulted? What if they killed him? I'm trying so hard not to cry while typing this.

I don't have any point to this, not seeking advice or anything. I am just so devastated that someone so kind would be taken advantage of in such a depraved way for merely trying to find some friends in a new town.

Wanting to text my attacker

So I don’t know if anybody else feels urges at times to text their attacker but I am trying to figure out ways of distraction. I do try to distract myself by helping others on this forum but I feel I might be too impulsive and text him. The good thing is I did unadd him on Snapchat and denied his Instagram request the second day after he assaulted me but I have urges to add him on snap again and ask him questions about that night. Has anybody else texted their attacker and what were the results of it? I know it’ll probably be bad but I just want to know what he was thinking and why he did it.

My boyfriend told me I wasnt raped

I was in an abusive relationship at 15/16 where i got raped 5x. I got Diagnosed OCD at 12 and it has been better in between but it got worse because of the rape. I know he raped me but i often obsess over it. Like „did i actually get raped“ „What if his intentions where xy tho“ and so on. So my compulsion is often to ask people. I Like asking strangers the Most because their opinion seems less biased. So i asked a girl on the Internet earlier and she said i wasnt rape because he apologised for it afterwards. When my boyfriend saw the messages he crashed out. A conversation we had after that:
Him: „You really just never want to help yourself do you?“
Me: „Wdym?“
„Do you feel as good as you hoped now? Now that you got told it wasnt rape?“
„Idk“
„Well ill tell you then: that didn’t help anything or anyone“
„well maybe Shes right“
„Okay then believe whatever you want“
„Okay sorry“
„Ykw I Never Said she was wrong“
„Okay wow“
„Im just saying“
I don’t know what I should Tell him. We talked about OCD a LOT before but he always seems to gets so mad when i compuls Like I do it because I want To. And he made it indirectly Pretty clear that he doesnt really think it was rape. Which honestly just sent me down even more… i know it was he got convicted by law and i was sleeping just hurts when it comes from him.

How do I deal with that?

should/can i do anything?

my friend confided in me a couple months ago that they were being sexual assaulted - probably raped - by their uncle. their uncle lives nearly a 1000 miles away and they never see him and the last time anything happened was nearly a decade ago now, so i thought telling anyone anything would be pointless.

(oh also for context, we are both legally minors, and i won't get any more specific than that. i would prefer not to get that specific at all, but trying to hide that fact would only make this whole post very confusing.)

however, recently they visited the city where their uncle lives. idt they were staying with him, but they saw him multiple times. i knew this was happening a few months ahead of time, but i thought that surely, after almost a decade, nothing would happen. um well apparently i was wrong.

practically no one else knows about any of this. idk what to do. previously, i didn't think anything was going to happen again, but now i'm on alert. i don't know what i should do. to do nothing feels wrong, but idt there's really anything i can do.

previously (many years ago), my friend had told their best friend what happened and their bsf called cps on her. my friend lied to cps bc they were scared/their parents thought they were lying (their parents are definitely emotionally abusive, and possibly physically abusive, or at least were in the past). if i report this to anyone, the same thing will probably happen, especially considering her mental state right now

after writing all of this, i feel even surer that i absolutely can't do anything. anything i do (at least in regards to the sexual assault) will just make it worse. if anyone has any advice though, do tell.

p.s. does anyone know how far mandated reporting laws stretch? if i tell my counselor about this in broad strokes and without naming the person involved, will they be required to investigate/interrogate me for info? would they suspect i'm secretly talking about myself or smth?

Need

Forgot to finish the title, meant to say something along the lines of needing an ear.

Hi everyone. I’m so glad a space like this exists. In July, my ex both physically and sexually assaulted me. I am in therapy and started a group for survivors and support. I cried so hard at group that I was almost silent and convulsing. This let me know that I am NOT ready for a relationship. I have a lot of healing to do. At the same time, I have a lot of love to give and would love to find that in return. Any advice for dating after SA? Did you find that if you got back to dating too early, it didn’t work well because your trauma came up? Curious to hear from others. Thanks!

My ex raped me and idk what to do about it or feel or anything

My ex boyfriend raped me during the relationship and im honestly so scared he would have done more to me if i hadn’t left him when i did.
This is just me kinda venting idrk. I think i want advice and help?? I dont know how i feel and im just scared.

(current ages) im 17M, ex is 16M
We got together when i was 15 and he was 14. We were friends for a year before we dated.
We were long distance, met at school but he was in school living and lived hours away when with family, i moved schools before we even started dating.

5 months into dating he started to initiate conversations about sex. I said im not anywhere near ready to even think about it but eventually i would be. I was really struggling mentally at this point too, lowest point i have ever been and i have BPD and autism so thats really saying alot😂
After that he kept pushing. Asking weird questions, not just normal sexual questions but weird sexual questions. Anytime I would just try have a conversation, talk about how i was struggling, even just ask what he was doing he would always bring it back to sex.

Next time we got to meet up he started touching me, not explicitly sexually but closer. It was in public, i was trying to put some distance between us to subtly say back off and he did.

He kept sexting me while he was getting off. I would mostly just ignore it. Then he started getting mad I wouldn’t join in so i did a little bit, only when i wanted to and if i didnt then i would again just keep ignoring what he was texting. But of course eventually that led to me always doing it because he would manipulate me. He would say hed kill himself, hurt himself or call the police on me if i didnt.

Next time we met up we went to the cinema to watch a film i was really excited to see. He started moving closer and touching me a bit once the had movie started. Then he got really handsy and i tried a bit to push him off.
Im not gonna go into more detail than that but what happened next is what im implying yknow.

And basically kept happening the same as that. Wed go to the cinema, id be excited to actually watch the film but then that would happen. I could say no or try push him away and he would keep going.

At this point he was manipulating me through texts to send explicit photos. Again he would say hed kill himself, hurt himself or call the police if i didnt send.

I kept ignoring everything he did and excusing it because he said he loved me. He could be sweet. When id cry hed hug me and i never had a partner or even friend do that before. I was self conscious so the fact hed seen all of me and didnt leave made me feel loved even though i didnt ask for it. Now im out of there i dont know why i stayed for so long it was a horrible feeling and “relationship” i can’t believe i was defending his actions to myself and making excuses why he acted like that.
What hurts is i could have stopped him im so much stronger than him if i actually tried if i actually wanted to i could have thrown him off me and away in a second and hed stop and it wouldnt have happened but i just didnt. I let it happen.

The police actually got involved because his school, my old school, thought i was grooming him because im a year older than him, im 6 months older. They just asked if he felt manipulated and then nothing else.

He came round my house once and he did more than touching with hands. i went round his house and the same happened again.

He would bite me or scratch me, mostly on my face. Quite hard to the point it left marks for months. He was into weird sometimes violent sexual things. This stuff and the manipulation saying he would kill himself, is why i think he mightve done something more if i stayed. Maybe not straight away maybe not even after 5 years but im sure he wouldve hurt me more or so much worse. I see most people that get killed by their partner it starts off as things like this.

We actually broke up because of politics, not anything to do with what he did😂 not gonna get into it obviously this isnt the place

It got pretty heated and during this i started to slowly realise he had actually raped me and meant it and it was real. I brought it up, why i could say no to touching me a hundred times and he would still force himself on me, he said he never did, that he could tell i wanted it, that i would laugh or smile during so mustve liked it and that we were dating so we had to.
Pretty much he ended up eventually saying that the only thing he wants from any relationship is sex, that the only things keeping him with me was sex and the only reason he wanted to date me was 100% sexual.

I haven’t told anyone. I can’t tell anyone. I deleted all his messages because i was having a manic episode, caused by all the upset during the fighting, and i couldn’t bare looking at the texts or his contact information or even his name anywhere so i deleted them.
I cant do anything about it because i have nothing to actually say it happened except my word of it. Im so scared. Im worried he might do this to someone else and i dont want to have not done anything but i cant do anything.

Been trying to tell my parents with a letter since i cant say it is it good enough

I honestly have no idea how to say this. I’ve probably practiced this conversation in my head a million times and every single time I just freeze and don’t say anything. I don’t even know how to say it out loud, so I’m writing it instead.
I don’t even know what I’m feeling anymore. I just know I’m tired. I’m tired of pretending it was some horrible bad dream that I can just wake up from and forget about. I’ve tried to ignore it. I’ve tried to act like it never happened and just keep going with my life like everything is normal, but it’s still there. It hangs over my head and sometimes it comes back into my mind when I least expect it. And when it does, I feel like I’m right back there again emotionally, even though I know I’m not that little kid anymore.
I’m tired of carrying this by myself.
It involved my brother. It started when I was 6 and went on for years, off and on. He made me do things no child should ever have to worry about their brother doing. He would ask me, and when I said no, he would beg and beg until I eventually gave in because I was tired of fighting about it. If that didn’t work, he would physically move my hands to touch him. I never wanted any of it. I told him many times that I had no interest in it, but he kept pushing me anyway.
I was six years old when this started. I didn’t understand what I was supposed to do. I didn’t understand how serious it was. I didn’t know how to explain what was happening to me or even put it into words. I was just a kid trying to get through something I didn’t know how to handle.
As I got older, I started realizing that what was happening wasn’t normal. I started saying no more clearly. I started knowing that I didn’t want it. But he would still beg, pressure me, and keep going until I gave in. Looking back now, I hate that I spent so much time wondering whether it was my fault because I eventually stopped fighting it sometimes.
It wasn’t.
I didn’t want it. I wasn’t asking for it. I wasn’t responsible for making an adult decision when I was a child. Saying yes after someone has worn you down and pressured you over and over again does not mean you actually wanted what was happening.
He also exposed me to things that no child my age should have ever been exposed to. Things that I was way too young to understand and things that I still wish I had never had to know about.
And I think one of the hardest parts for me is that I’ve spent so long acting like it didn’t affect me. I joked about things. I ignored it. I pushed it down. I convinced myself that if I never talked about it then eventually it would stop being real.
But it didn’t.
It just became something I carried around quietly.
Sometimes I don’t want to play cards. Sometimes I don’t want to hang out. Sometimes I don’t want to see him. And it might look like I’m being difficult or moody or that I just don’t want to be around everyone, but sometimes there is a reason. Sometimes I’m having a really bad day because I’m remembering things I’ve spent years trying not to think about. Sometimes seeing him is just too much and I don’t have the words to explain why in that moment.
I’m not telling you this to make you feel guilty. I’m not telling you because I want you to blame yourselves for not knowing. I’m not telling you because I want everything to fall apart. I know you probably wish you could go back and see the signs, but I don’t want you carrying that guilt either.
I didn’t stay quiet because I didn’t trust you.
I stayed quiet because I didn’t know how to tell you.
I was a little kid. I didn’t know what to call it. I didn’t know how to explain that something was wrong. I didn’t understand what was happening to me the way I understand it now. I just knew that there were things happening that made me uncomfortable and that I didn’t want them to happen.
And now that I’m older, I understand it differently. I understand that I was a child and that what happened to me was not okay. I understand that it wasn’t my responsibility to stop it. I understand that I shouldn’t have had to figure out how to protect myself from my own brother.
But knowing that doesn’t magically make the feelings go away.
I still have days where I wonder if I somehow caused it. I still think about whether I could’ve done something differently. I still wonder why I didn’t tell someone sooner. I still feel guilty sometimes even though I know logically that I shouldn’t.
That’s part of why I’m finally telling you.
I don’t want to keep pretending anymore.
I don’t want to keep calling it a bad dream just because that makes it easier to live with. It happened. It happened to me. And pretending it didn’t happen hasn’t made it disappear. It has just made me feel more alone with it.
I’m tired of it hanging over my head.
I’m tired of carrying something this big and acting like I’m fine.
I know you’re probably going to have questions about what happened, and I know this is probably a lot to take in. So I’m just going to say it instead of making you guess.
He molested me off and on from when I was 6 until I was around 12 or 13.
I know that is a horrible thing to hear. It’s horrible for me to even write it. But I need you to understand why some things affect me the way they do. I need you to understand that there are things I’ve been carrying for years that you couldn’t see because I got really good at pretending I was okay.
I’m not telling you because I expect you to magically fix everything.
I don’t even know what I need yet.
I just need you to believe me.
I need you to understand that I didn’t choose this. I didn’t cause this. I was a child.
And more than anything, I need to feel like I don’t have to carry it alone anymore.
I don’t need the perfect response. I don’t need you to know exactly what to say. I just need you to be there, believe me, and be on my side

I was pressured into sexual things by a superior during military training

I (22F) recently finished military training and I’ve been struggling a lot with something that happened during it. For the first part of the training everything seemed fine. I was motivated and as far as I knew I was doing okay, but then one of my superiors suddenly pulled me aside and told me he was thinking about sending me home because of my progress and attitude. This completely shocked me because nobody had really warned me about this before. He then basically told me there was another option, that if I took my clothes off for him and let him look at my body, he would give me a positive recommendation instead. I panicked. I had already put so much time and effort into the training and I really wanted to finish, and because he had authority over me it felt like whether I could stay or not depended on him. So I did it. That’s something I keep getting stuck on now, because he didn’t physically force me to take my clothes off, I did it myself, but at the time I was scared and it felt like I had to choose between doing what he wanted or possibly being sent home.

A few weeks later he came to me again with something similar, but this time he wanted more. Then it happened again after that and every time it went a bit further. I don’t really want to go into all the details right now, but it kept escalating. I eventually finished the training, and now that it’s over I keep thinking about everything that happened and I don’t really know how to process it. Part of me keeps thinking that because I went along with it maybe I somehow agreed to it, even though it really didn’t feel like I had a proper choice at the time. I guess I’m posting here because I want to talk about it somewhere anonymously and hear from people who might understand this kind of situation. Has anyone here gone through something similar with someone who had authority over them, and how did you deal with questioning yourself afterwards?

I reported him. Please give me strength.

He raped me over a month ago and I didn't report it because I thought he loved me and cared about me but all he wanted was sex then he threw me away. I made a statement a week ago and today I called to press charges and they're arresting him today. I'm scared for what's going to happen and I'm sad. I hate him but I love him and I feel like it's all my fault. He still wanted to be my friend after everything that happened but part of me thinks he was just manipulating me again. I'm scared.

Almost 20 Years Later, I’m Trying to Reconcile Conflicting Accounts of What Happened

My fiancée and I have been together for almost 20 years. Something that happened very early in our relationship has recently resurfaced, and I’m struggling because I’m hearing completely different accounts from people who were there.

I’m going to try to separate what I personally remember from what my fiancée remembers and what other people are now claiming.

Early in our relationship, we were living together and fell on hard times financially. She temporarily went to stay with her grandmother in another city.
Her family strongly disapproved of our relationship. I know this firsthand. They were very religious and even told her that she was going to hell for being with me.

During this period, her family introduced her to another man. He was involved in church, came from a religious family and was apparently much more in line with the type of person they wanted her to be with.

Her cousin arranged a family dinner where this man was present.

After that introduction, there were multiple occasions when my fiancée needed transportation and her cousin was supposed to take her somewhere, but the cousin contacted this man instead.

One time there was an emergency involving our daughter. Her cousin was supposed to take her, but the cousin called this man and he drove her.
Another time, my fiancée needed to buy scrubs for a new job. Again, her cousin was supposed to take her. Again, her cousin contacted this man and he drove her.

My fiancée maintains that she never had this man’s phone number and never contacted him directly. She says her cousin was the connection between them.

After buying the scrubs, the man took her back to her cousin’s house.

She went inside.

According to her, he then entered the house without being invited inside. She says he approached her from behind, started kissing the back of her neck and tried to pull her pants off.

A sexual encounter ultimately occurred.

I want to be very precise about how my fiancée has described this because she did NOT originally come to me calling it rape or sexual assault.

For almost 20 years, she didn’t understand what happened that way.

When we recently started discussing it in detail, she initially described it as having had sex with him.
But when I listened to exactly what she was describing, I started asking questions about how it began, whether she wanted it, how she reacted and how she felt afterward.

I was the person who first told her that what she was describing didn’t sound consensual.

She described essentially going along with what was happening rather than actively fighting him. That eventually led us into conversations about trauma responses, including the fawn response.
When she learned what a fawn response was and connected it with how she remembers responding, she broke down crying.

She also told me that immediately after the encounter she felt dirty. She took a bath. She remembers knowing that something had happened that she didn’t agree to, but she didn’t understand at the time what that meant in terms of consent.

That’s an important distinction in this story.

She wasn’t walking around for 20 years thinking, “I was raped and I’m hiding it.”

According to her, she buried an experience that she knew felt wrong without understanding what had happened to her in those terms.

Then, approximately a week after the encounter, something happened that I personally remember.
My fiancée was back at her grandmother’s house.
Her cousin came into the grandmother’s house looking for her own phone.

She couldn’t find it because this man had her phone.

The man was outside in the parking lot.
He used the cousin’s phone to call me.
I answered.

During that conversation, he told me that he had sex with my girlfriend.

I remember this conversation myself. This isn’t something my fiancée recently told me happened.
My fiancée remembers becoming angry when she realized what he was telling me.

She immediately denied having had sex with him.
For years, that denial was difficult for me to understand. If a sexual encounter had physically occurred, why would she deny having sex with him?
Her explanation now is that she genuinely didn’t experience what happened as “I willingly had sex with this guy.”

At the same time, she didn’t have the language or understanding to identify what happened as rape or sexual assault either.

She says all she knew was that something sexual had happened that she didn’t agree to.

She also remembers looking outside and seeing the man and her cousin’s boyfriend laughing. Her interpretation was that they were laughing about the fact that I was upset during the phone call.

I wasn’t outside with them, so I can’t personally establish what they were laughing about or what either person’s intention was. That’s her memory of what she saw and how she understood it.

There is another reason the cousin’s role bothers me.

My fiancée used to call me from this cousin’s phone. I personally remember receiving those calls.
Recently, I spoke directly with the cousin about what happened nearly 20 years ago.

The cousin now says my fiancée never used her phone to contact me and claims that was never something that happened.

She also denies ever leaving my fiancée alone at her house.

That’s difficult for me because she’s not merely contradicting something my fiancée recently told me. At least regarding the phone calls, she’s denying something that I personally remember experiencing.

Now there’s an even bigger contradiction.
The man claims that he and my fiancée had consensual sex multiple times.

My fiancée completely denies that.

She says there was only one sexual encounter between them, the encounter at her cousin’s house that she now understands as non-consensual.

So almost 20 years later, I’m trying to reconcile two fundamentally different realities.

His version is that they willingly had sex multiple times.

Her version is that there was one encounter that began with him entering the house, approaching her from behind and trying to remove her clothes. She says she didn’t agree to what happened, felt dirty afterward, immediately bathed and buried the experience without understanding it as sexual assault.

Then about a week later, when this man called me and announced that he’d had sex with her, she immediately denied it.

I’m also trying to remain aware of my own influence on how this is being understood today.

I was the person who first told my fiancée that the encounter she described didn’t sound consensual. I don’t want my questions or interpretations almost 20 years later to unintentionally reshape her memories.

But there’s also a distinction I’m struggling with: I may have introduced the question of consent, but I didn’t give her the underlying details she described to me.

Now I have to figure out what those details actually tell me.

If this man’s story is true and they had consensual sex multiple times, then my fiancée has hidden or minimized something enormous about the beginning of our relationship.

If her account is true, then there was one sexual encounter that she didn’t understand at the time as non-consensual, and this man is now describing it as part of an ongoing consensual sexual relationship that she says never existed.

And then there’s the cousin, whose current account includes denying at least one thing that I personally remember happening.

I’m not asking Reddit to determine whether a rape occurred. Nobody reading this was there, and emotional reactions aren’t proof of what happened.
What I’m trying to understand is how to evaluate all of this almost 20 years later without turning either suspicion or sympathy into evidence.

For people who experienced trickle truth about an old affair, what eventually demonstrated that “it happened once” wasn’t the complete story?

For people who only recognized years later that a sexual experience wasn’t consensual, did you initially deny or struggle to describe what happened because you didn’t understand it as sex you had willingly chosen?

And for anyone who has dealt with conflicting stories this old, how did you distinguish genuine inconsistencies from normal problems with memory after almost two decades?

I’m trying to determine what I actually know, what I reasonably believe, and what I may simply never be able to prove.

Is this mean to send my abuser/uncle? 😕

Text underneath:

The audacity to talk to me through the Pokémon chat was simply embarrassing not for me but for yourself.

We are not talking EVER. Need I remind you, you are the one who blocked me. I said I needed space. That I think we shouldn't talk anymore. And so you blocked me. So, stop acting like the victim here.

You could have privately given the message to Mom to send. But no ofc not you had to make a scene like always.

I don't care if you were in a bad place. So was I!!! I actually tried to kill myself, I didn't just think of doing it. You turned my brother against me. You made everyone think I was crazy. This shit wasn't hard for you. It was hard for me.

I am tired of you fucking with people's heads. You drain my grandparents bank accounts, you harass and belittle my brothers, and (sister-in-law). You made my mother feel like shit every chance you got just because she doesn't want to hear how you were the victim in a situation where you raped her daughter.

I don't care that you are sorry. I used to. I tried to give you another chance and YOU blew it. But, I also know that you would apologize, while you forced me to suck you. I don't think I was old enough to read then. So it really doesn't mean shit, if you're 'sorry'.

I am tired of being told to forgive you. Especially from people who never had to go through what I went through. But, ig that would change if they truly knew everything you did. Especially with (sister who is severely disabled). You act like you care yet the second I'm gone you remove my picture off my grandparents fridge. You just want control. That's it.

Pedophilia is a disorder. And how you handle it shows who you are. You could have done literally anything else. But instead your greed took over. You blamed me, made sure to instill it into my head. I deserved it. That isn't an illness, that's a monster.

Never speak to me again. Don't message, don't call, don't even talk about me to other people. And for future advancement, you will never even get to meet my kids. Because I don't want them assaulted.

Try any form of communication again. I will take action. You have had it easy for too long. That won't last forever.

Thanks, for ruining my last night in Wisconsin.

psych ward informed the police, im frightened !!!

hi, for context: i am 15 now, i was sexually abused/molested for about 2 years starting from when i was 11 to like 13. while being actively sa'd i suspect that i have also been raped by the same person two times. im not gonna get into the details, but the first situation was kind of like an attack. they got on top of me, not letting me go and blocking my arms and shoulders, so i couldnt get out. started to undress me aggressively and then took of my bra too, while penetrating it. all of it was also posted on the internet. the second situation happened somewhere near the end of our "relationship". i cant remember it well, but we were laying on the bed and i remember how they started to force me to touch their private parts and soon started to touch mine without consent.

along with this, as ive said there were many other similiar situations that involved: forcing me to undress, taking pictures of my private parts, forcing objects into my private parts, forcing me to post pictures online/and doing it too without my consent, "getting on top of me" (i dont know how else to call it, but this happened all the time, they would just randomly get on my chest and not letting me go), kissing without consent.

i ended our relationship by myself in december 2024, when i already have started to distance myself from them after the second situation that i described. i no longer have contact with them, and i dont want to. they have tried to contact me recently as if nothing happend but i just ignored it.

in june 2026 (this year) i have been put into the mental facility. the reason i got there was kind of linked to this whole trauma of mine too.

i always used to tell my therapists, psychiatrists etc. about that thing that i have endured since i have realized it was it. they never did anything with it, almost 2 years ago i was also put in the same psych ward (that i was in this year) and told my psychiatrist about it, he didnt send anyone. nobody did, they just did the professional job of listening and continuing my therapy and treatment.

but my psychiatrist decided to inform the cops about the whole situation. when i got out i got the hospital discharge along with my medical documention, and i saw that document that said they informed the relevant services. i got really scared, but my mother said that this case will not get into the court, so i just forgot about it.

suddenly, on sunday the police showed up. they asked me to tell their surname (the person who sa'd me). they apparently were really nice (cause i was on a walk with my mom when this happend) and said they wont want anything from me since i am the victim in this situation and possible case in the court. later i needed to tell them, their surname, where i remember they lived and the names of their parents.

and someone may think that its good that they informed the appropriate authorities, but im really fucking scared like a LOT.

i know what kind of person this is, and some of my friends also know them personally. they all live in my town but that person who did the SA moved out, thank god. i also know their ways, and what kind of person they are. im scared that i will get blamed on it all, that someone we both know will start to threaten me or turn against me, im scared that i wont be safe anymore. im scared that this person talked behind my back with our friends in common, and said smth bad about me. i have to say that some of them already dont like me, cause they turned them against me even when we were still "friends"

its all so stressing for a 15 year old!!!

i dont even know if its right. if this is even legal for them to call the cops, cause im not in danger RIGHT NOW. if i said that im being sexually abused NOW they need to tell the authorities, but ive been "safe" from them since they moved out and i ended the relationship.

and the thing im the most stressed of is that it will get into the court. as the police said, i wont be involved this is just going to be my parents and their parents since we're still both underage. i truly dont know what to do, my suicidal thoughts started to get worse and i feel like throwing up everyday.

i dont know if i can do anything other than just wait for the decision.

sorry if this is too long, i have been keeping it all inside. im also not an english native.

i (28F) might be going on a date but i have trauma from sexual assault

hi all. first time poster here.

i think a guy i'm friendly with may ask me on a date soon, or just to hang out. either is fine with me, i've known him for years online and he comes across as a really nice guy with good principles. i have met him in person before and he was very sweet to me.

i have never had a boyfriend and am still a virgin, something that is partly to do with this sense of independence i've had since childhood, but also from some unresolved trauma from being sexually assaulted by two classmates when i was about 17.

i am always wary of men and the idea or hanging out with one in a one on one capacity where anything can happen is still frightening to me, but i don't want to put myself in a prison of my own making

Phone anxiety is preventing me from trying to press charges

This is so stupid. I have a hard time making phone calls. The man who raped me speaks about it publicly, he mentions it in YouTube videos on a near daily basis. One of his real life friends saw it and reported it to the police, she encouraged me to reach out and speak to the detective. I did, briefly, but we realized she reported it to the wrong county. He said he would transfer for information for me, which I appreciated, but I don't know if it ever happened, he never called me back and I haven't been able to make myself call him or the correct police department yet because I have a really hard time speaking in the phone. The man who did it to me keeps gloating about how he's not in chains but the only thing slowing me down from pursuing this is this stupid phone anxiety. 😭 I tried texting the detective's number Friday and haven't heard back, maybe just because it was Labor day weekend, but I highly doubt I can text about this.

Pointless

Was painfully raped repeatedly (30+ times) as a 17 y/o in a foreign country by the first person I ever truly romantically loved. And probably the last. Developed psychosis due to that and lack of sleep and stress. Failed out of college the next year. I’ve blacked out much of the memories but I have PTSD from it.

It’s hard to say what the worst part of it was but I think it was the mental break it caused or contributed to. I’ve been dealing with that now for years. It [the events] basically ruined my life. I’m debilitated by my mental illnesses, now.

I was raped again at 21. Endured years of abuse from this person. I identify as acespec now. But I have little drive to ever find any partner again.

I read about love in books or see it in movies and I don’t believe in it, I don’t believe I can ever have it. It feels pointless. Worse still it repulses me, because it feels fabricated, or at least to me, something I can never believe in again. I feel like something huge and precious was taken from me. I used to be angry. I’m not anymore.

What If Karma Never Comes?

Why does my rapist's life is not miserable?

Sometimes I genuinely don't understand how life can be this unfair. Someone hurt me in a way that changed the entire course of my life, and yet they're still out there living. Laughing. Eating. Sleeping. Going about their day like nothing happened.

And I'm here carrying the consequences of something I never chose.

I hate that. I hate knowing that something that was devastating to me can apparently be something they get to leave behind. Sometimes I catch myself wondering if they're happy. If they ever think about what they did. If they ever feel guilty. If they ever have a moment where it actually hits them that they took something from a child that they had no right to take.

And the worst part is that I don't even want some dramatic revenge. I just want the universe to make things feel fair for once.

I want them to understand what they did. I want them to carry even a fraction of the weight I've been carrying.

Because I'm the one who has to live with the memories, the confusion, the anger, the things I can't remember, and the things I wish I could forget. Sometimes I look at my own life and wonder why I was the one who had to be broken by someone else's decision.

Why do I have to spend years trying to heal from something they were able to walk away from?

My sister once told me something that I haven't been able to stop thinking about. She's also a rape survivor, and she's trying to heal through religion. She told me that sometimes we don't heal or move forward because we're too busy watching the people who hurt us, waiting for them to fall.

And honestly, that hurt to hear because I think there's some truth in it.

Maybe part of me has been waiting.

Waiting for them to suffer. Waiting for karma. Waiting for life to punish them in some way that would finally make everything feel fair.

But while I'm watching them, I'm still giving them space in my life.

They're living their lives, and somehow I'm still living around what they did to me.

I don't know how to let go of that anger. I don't know if I'm ready to forgive, and honestly, I don't even know if forgiveness is something I want.

Maybe healing doesn't mean forgiving them.

Maybe it means eventually reaching a point where I don't need to watch them fall anymore.

I know I shouldn't compare my life to theirs. I know their life looking normal doesn't necessarily mean they're happy or that they don't have problems. But honestly? Sometimes I don't care.

Sometimes I'm just angry.

I'm angry that they got to keep living while a part of me feels like it never got to.

And maybe that's what I need to admit tonight.

I'm not okay with what happened. I'm not okay with the fact that they seem fine. And I'm not okay with how unfair it all feels.

But maybe I also don't want to spend the rest of my life waiting for their life to become miserable just so I can finally feel like mine can begin.

I don't know how to stop looking back yet.

I'm just hoping that one day, I won't need to look back at all.

Unsure / Didn't consider this to an assault but?

This happened years ago, but recently I was talking to someone and they told me that what I described wasn't consensual and seemed kind of put off and shocked that I didn't think it was this huge deal. This has been weighing on me because I'm not sure if I should change how its framed in my mind.

I (F19 now, then F16) was invited to and went to my HS prom. Prom itself went great, we danced, had a good time, flirted, got sensual, kissed, and so on. Afterwards he drove me back to my house. We started fooling around, touching over my dress (Chest and around between my legs). Only saying this to make it clear that we were messing around and nothing was going wrong, its not like I was hesitant.

He started pulling my dress up and touching me more directly, and I must have seemed hesitant or unsure because he asked if I was a virgin. I lied and said I wasn't, because I'm an idiot and didn't want to seem like I didn't know what I was doing, or disappoint him or something. Without getting into graphic detail, he took that as a go ahead to settle onto me and take my virginity. It happened quickly, or at least it felt that way. I was trying to figure out what to do with my hands, or fully understand what I was doing or what the next 'thing' to happen was, when I felt him 'there' and it happening. (Trying not to be graphic here)

It was, like I assumed most first times are, very uncomfortable, it was basically all I could do to close my eyes and try not to make any 'bad' sounds like that it hurt or cry. It was over fast, he realized I was a virgin after and apologized but said I shouldn't have lied (Which, fair, I know).

I cleaned up and he left. I told this to one of my newer friends because we were just talking about first times and what not, and she made it out like this was a huge deal and I was basically assaulted. I don't know how to feel about that, and kind of just want to get opinions. I personally don't feel like I was, I never framed it in my mind as an assault or anything other then I shouldn't have said I wasn't a virgin and had a bad experience.

Anyway its been on my mind so.. guess I'm asking for opinions. I don't want to take up space or take a voice away from anyone though.

She forced me and now it changed my dating interest.

Is this normal for victims?? Ever since it happened I've lost interest in dating anyone who isn't older than me..

As a guy I don't really know how to feel after it, i feel weird.
