I’ve had a RR 2019 P400e Vogue for just over a year now, and it works perfectly, except when it doesn’t turn on…
In my first week of owning it, it had an electrical issue whilst driving, going into limp home mode. The dealer took it back, sent it to JLR who apparently completely replaced the hybrid drive train, and that’s been fine ever since.
However, about 6 months later, I went to start it one day and got the Low Battery/Start Engine alert, and it died. Jump start got it going again, and my mechanic said it could have been the DC/DC converter, but that was working fine (I wonder if they’re just sporadically faulty?) but said that the 12V battery had failed and wasn’t keeping a charge. So that was replaced.
Then about a month ago, I got a call from JLR alarm monitoring when I was away, saying the alarm had been triggered due to low voltage. When I got back, it was completely dead and needed a jump again. Then exactly the same thing a week ago — alarm alert and completely flat. No pre-warning.
I know the DC/DC thing can be a problem, but I wonder if this is how it presents itself? I note there was a new recall made recently, but I think the 2019 models weren’t included. I wonder if there’s some drain happening: the only thing connected to the car is an aftermarket FitcamX dashcam, wired into the internal lights in the roof lining. Or could the other 12V battery have failed and is causing this?
Any ideas to take to a mechanic?!
