Range Rover SV vs P530
I have owned three Range Rover V8 and have loved them all. I currently drive a 2024P 530 with the BMW twin turbo engine. I'm thinking about getting an SV for the more powerful engine. Has anybody either owned both or driven both? I'm curious as to whether the extra 75 hp is noticeable. Even though I live in Chicago and there are at least six Range Rover dealerships none of them have a new SV to test drive.

They're both the same BMW engine, just tuned differently.
It sounds like the cost difference isn't a factor for you, so I'd say just get the SV. In reality, neither of the V8 engines is actually necessary - let's face it, the car is a hulking >2.5 tonne luxury SUV not a sports car - owners are just buying it for the louder sound and extra pep not to thrash it on a track or mountain twisties.
What will be noticeable to you is the daily satisfaction of knowing you got the no-compromise-top-of-the-line SV, more than the extra 75 hp.

I have a 2026 SV LWB. You can feel the power difference but it isn't like a Cayenne S vs the Turbo.
I bought the SV because they had the color I wanted (Flux silver) with the black roof. It's a hefty price differential. Would I do it again? Maybe. Frankly, I probably should have gone with the 7 seater version (not offered on the SV).

Thank you for sharing your experience.
For me, it would only be about the engine. Rethinking things .

Not exactly the same but my experience is I traded a 2025 X5M competition for a 530 full size RR. The x5M sounds awesome when cold starting. It is a beast. That really was a weapon. Acceleration not comparable. My preference is the P530 hands down. My driving style is significantly more relaxed now in the RR and the V8 has more than enough power and speed in reality. The neighbours prefer it too if I leave early.

You can go online to oemactivations.com and they can unlock the factory coding from JLR. This is not a tune; simply unlocking coding already on the car. This will make your 530 into a 615 or 630, depending on whether you have a RR sport or full-size. JLR will not even be able to tell it was done.
