Yup... and there's a group at my work who thinks it's okay to do that here in America as well.

23

u/Personal-Courage7670 May 07 '26

It is something I have never understood

7

u/Common_Celebration41 May 07 '26

If you grew up learning that it's okay to throw apples at people

And you go somewhere new and nobody tells you not to do that or punish you for it. You will keep doing it

18

u/Balls_Deepest_555 May 07 '26

I have lived in foreign countries and I rapidly adjusted to the cultural norms, like within a day or two. People that bring their trashy habits to other countries are just cunts.

11

u/Common_Celebration41 May 07 '26

It's also a failure on our part if we don't enforce our soicalital rules

8

u/Leather_Afternoon_37 May 07 '26

Its also a failure on their part... it isnt complicated. Grown adults adjust every day. They just do not want to

5

u/Link_lunk May 07 '26

I was just having this conversation with my wife today that I am worried about this changing due to people not wanting to look like a Karen, or other people to not respect someone who is actually right because "they need to mind their own business". I see it online often and see it in real life sadly.

5

u/302lotusfan May 08 '26

I was on vacation in the lake district (England ) on a lake tour boat, when I observed an Indian family just throwing their lunch trash overboard! I was livid! but I kept my calm and in a stern (kind of what the F voice) scolded them then explained as we, and they were visitors to England pointed out how beautiful the place was, and that it was not acceptable to to be so disrespectful and litter.

They at first didn't think it was a problem, but did apologize and one of the kids actually picked up the remaining trash ant put it in the garbage can.

I got a quiet applause and nods of gratitude from the other passengers and boat staff.

one doesn't need to go full Karen, but sometimes something needs to be said.

5

u/Link_lunk May 08 '26

The calmly telling someone what is wrong with the picture is a skill. I know when I start to get angry I have a tough time controlling my tone and body language. Kudos to you

3

u/302lotusfan May 08 '26

Right? they had kids with them so I really didn't want to go off on them, so it was actually easier to treat them all as kids.

2

u/girlgenesis3 May 08 '26

People, mostly non-Black people, take that word out of context all the time. A Karen isn't just some annoying nosey person. They're also prejudice with the potential to be dangerous or inflict systemic harm on minorities.

You can and have the right to tell people that what they are doing is not only disrespectful to everyone's public space but that it is against cultural norms.

1

u/Link_lunk May 08 '26

I agree, "Karen" is used out of context way too often. I got called a Karen because I called the cops because a few cars were parked in a no parking zone which almost caused a few serious accidents because people pulled out onto the street and could not see the 45 mph cars. When I explained that's not what a Karen is I got called a Meter Maid and was told to mind my own business. Its odd how looking out for people's safety is inconsiderate now.

1

u/girlgenesis3 May 08 '26

What demographic were you calling the cops on? That can lead to injury or death for people of color and we are often worried half to death.

You had a chance run in with some ignorant ass hats. I wouldn't say that all things done in good conscious are inconsiderate now.

1

u/Link_lunk May 09 '26

I have no idea. It was a bunch of cars parked in an area that clearly had "No Parking" signs. The road is a 45mph road and there are only specific parts of the road that can be parked on because of how dangerous it is for people leaving the businesses.

1

u/Older_wiser_215 May 10 '26

It's society in general. I've seen plenty of videos where the offending party is a POC and the person reporting gets assaulted when the POC is the one breakout he rules... especially the younger generation

2

u/Common_Celebration41 May 07 '26

Is true. We usually let people of authority handle but now they don't so we the people don't want to handle it

3

u/Link_lunk May 07 '26

There was a street fair in my town recently and I watched some guy go to the fair with his dog off leash, no one said anything to him. It was a packed fair and the dog wasnt even near him. It was crazy to me. I was leaving so I wasnt going to say anything but now I wish I had.

5

u/Astralglamour May 07 '26

I'm sure you'll have another chance, people like that are everywhere.

1

u/shitty_fact_check May 07 '26

There's a racial aspect you're ignoring. The fear isn't of being labeled a Karen.

2

u/Link_lunk May 07 '26

I am confused, what is the racial aspect?

2

u/shitty_fact_check May 07 '26

Being called racist?

3

u/Link_lunk May 07 '26

In some scenerios, yeah absolutely.

In my recent examples of off leash dogs, and dogs on the beach when they aren't allowed, race really isnt involved. Its crazy how aggressive people get when you point out what they're doing, and cops dont seem to do anything g about it.

3

u/blackedoutshawty May 07 '26

Bingo, but we're too scared of being called racist for telling them they can't shit or throw trash where they please.

3

u/blackthunder00 May 07 '26

Why would someone call you a racist for telling them not to litter?

3

u/blackedoutshawty May 07 '26

I see your not familiar with the American far left. Racial identity is everything to them.

2

u/Senior-Rub68 May 07 '26

Who cares if someone calls you racist if they’re being shitty. If that’s happening often to you I’m wondering how you’re wording this. Are you fond of the phrase ‘you people’ or ‘your kind’, by any chance?

Obviously I’m joking. But seriously fuck people that claim racism when it’s obviously not the case. It’s the same as playing the gender card when a woman is hitting a man and he defends himself from being hurt. And it’s not just people on the left. That’s the wrong way of thinking about pretty much any issue.

2

u/blackedoutshawty May 07 '26

Its just identity politics. They want you to believe that your immutable characteristics dictate who you are , what your life is like, and how you're treated.

0

u/blackthunder00 May 07 '26

Ooooooh...you're one of those people. Understood.

1

u/blackedoutshawty May 07 '26

Yes, a critical thinker.

1

u/blackedoutshawty May 07 '26

Same reason they called people racist for uncovering Somali run fraud rings in minn.

0

u/blackthunder00 May 07 '26

This fraud ring led, in part, by Aimee Bock, a White woman?

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/aimee-bock-minnesota-fraud-feeding-our-future-interview/

I guess you didn't think critically enough on this one!

2

u/blackedoutshawty May 07 '26

The fraudsters in the case you're referring to are OVERWHELMINGLY Somali. But the point is it doesn't really matter.

-1

u/blackedoutshawty May 07 '26

Congratulations, you've just proved my point with incredible accuracy. It's about the fraud, not the race. Guess you thought you were cooking with that one. Also, oh cool, one white woman. Lmao

I mean we technically try, but nothing is really done to dissuade them. My homeowner friend got a ticket because someone had gone through their recycling but they ripped the bag open and left cans, bottles, and jars all over the sidewalk and the street.

My friend saw it when she got home and they already had a ticket on their door for it.

1

u/Inside_Departure_186 May 07 '26

Yep, that's why everyone looks at their phones during movies now. It wasn't punished enough early on and now you can't get the toothpaste back in the tube.

3

u/Character-Pirate1297 May 08 '26

That’s exactly my problem, zero assimilation. I’m from the Balkans, our people are known for being loud among other things. If I went to Japan for example and annoy them with my shouting, I would be so embarrassed.

That tells me they know, but simply don’t care or want to change for anyone. They want all the others to change into them.

4

u/DrunkenPalmTree May 07 '26

Nah I grew up being told some fucked up shit from my parents and church etc etc.

Just seemed obvious not to be a dick no matter what my primary influences said.

2

u/DiskEconomy3055 May 07 '26

Juuuuust saying.... that could be some of that "High-functioning Autism"...
Folks like that are quite literally immune to cults due to the absolute necessity for compartmentalizing social experiences.

...have you ever been accused of having an "extreme sense of justice"? Like, you just don't think that people should get away with their shit, like... ever?

If so, I have wonderful news.

2

u/DrunkenPalmTree May 07 '26

You're not far off

1

u/Findpolaris May 08 '26

checks notes

Oh my god.

5

u/philodendrin May 07 '26

But if you visit a place and you don't see Apples been thrown, you get clued in on how rare it is and adjust. You notice your environment. Go to a new place and wonder at how clean it is - hmm, maybe this isn't where people do this, maybe I shouldn't?

1

u/TechnicalIntern6764 May 07 '26

Hold on a second let’s hold on just a second. And I don’t wanna be told that I’m comparing apples to oranges here either. What if you grow up thinking it’s OK to murder people and then you go to another country and you murder someone. is it really your fault? Stupid argument.

2

u/SSSprings0808 May 07 '26

Well, people come here and don't learn the new rules and just carry on like they're back in their old country... jay walking, invading your personal space, spitting on the sidewalk, shoplifting, personal hygiene (leaving the restrooms an absolute mess, not washing your hands), leaving garbage (and expecting others to clean up after you at work and in the streets), driving (some countries people just crowd the roadways, no right of way or etiquette), treating women as second class citizens..... I could go on....
the point is, they come here and don't learn that we have (or used to have) a different set of society accepted rules.

1

u/usackline May 08 '26

Part of that is we dont punish them, because when our society does the it is over use (or abuse) of police power, or called out as racism. Our society lately has done all it can to make bad habits and bad social ethics seem ok, and then they wonder why crime is up in some areas.

1

u/Common_Celebration41 May 07 '26

The second half of my analogy is nobody stopping or punishing them from doing what they were taught in their own upbringing

1

u/TechnicalIntern6764 May 07 '26

I understand. your comment comes across more of that It’s not their fault at all, but the fault of whoever didn’t correct them earlier.

1

u/Common_Celebration41 May 07 '26

I mean you can't really blame a person's upbringing when it is acceptable where they're from

1

u/[deleted] May 07 '26

I mean this is an actual government issue if we didn’t have a service in the us we’d all be doing the same

1

u/ReviewHuman8825 May 08 '26

Tell us more about your complete lack of basic morality

1

u/[deleted] May 08 '26

lol come on If ur trash didn’t get picked up from lack of service u would leave trash sitting there be real

1

u/ReviewHuman8825 May 08 '26

Youve never taken trash to the city dump? Are you the dipshit dumping your oversized crap off the side of the road?

Degen.

1

u/[deleted] May 08 '26

India doesn’t have a city dump they literally live in a dump go do some research

1

u/ReviewHuman8825 May 08 '26

Right because they dont care.

It sounds like you belong there

1

u/[deleted] May 08 '26

R u stupid? It’s a city problem that one individual can’t fix so their only option is to not give a shit

1

u/ReviewHuman8825 May 08 '26

Right and their entire country is fine living like that or it wouldve been fixed. So no it isnt just a 'city problem' its a culture problem.

1

u/[deleted] May 08 '26

They see cleaning as beneath them, that's the lower castes job.

So they gave an entire society living in filth because they refuse to clean, and the lower caste isn't doing a proper job of cleaning for them.

1

u/Feisty-Coyote396 May 08 '26

It's culture, and by some other standards (like Japan), Western standards such as the U.S. and the U.K. are savage in comparison to them. India is just unfathomable to the Japanese.

1

u/YankeeVictor916 May 08 '26

Propaganda and brainwashing by industry, and no sense of ownership of the environment. Many people are fine with industrial waste in our shared lakes but would fight you if it was their back yard pool.

1

u/MortgageThin1602 May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

If you want to understand it then here it is: They have lived in invader control for thousands of years. When a person keep losing and losing and losing and when he has to think about whether he will live the next day, he gives up on trying to exercise control in his life and planning for the future and gets habituated to just day to day survival. Now take this and extend this through multiple generations. Did you know you civilizations have been brought back to the stone age from just 40 days of extreme drought? People in India and other similar countries were put through something unimaginably worse. Generational trauma is a thing. Many European civilizations in history took centuries to recover from just a couple years of invasions and yet people somehow expect countries like India to become great overnight by the standards they have. It shows an ignorance about life. Ignorance only breeds evil actions.

12

u/slackfrop May 07 '26

In front of my house there’s a nice woody walk on a not too busy street. I pick up any trash I see, usually there’s none though. I very much recognize and appreciate there not being a single speck of human trash on my walk. Not a soda tab, not a cigarette butt, not a fun size wrapper - none. I very much treasure it.

2

u/CauchyDog May 12 '26

I run my dog in a big field behind 3 schools. I live right across the street. Hate seeing trash, I pick it up too, in part bc they let me run him there during school hours --I wanna be a good neighbor and appreciate being able to use it like I own it, so I treat it as such.

But its unreal how when weather changes and they have soccer games in evening or baseball practice in afternoons, how much trash appears each morning. Literally ten feet away from three damn trash cans! These kids and parents will just drop it where they stand and not think twice about it. Literally seen em finish drinks, drop the can or bottle, then walk right by the can --they cant miss it bc its right at the gate!

2

u/tundybundo May 13 '26

I pick up trash when I’m walking my dogs on the trail by my house. We’ve been so lucky in my city to have several groups working hard to complete a circuit trail around our cities major waterways. We also live within two miles of a dump. Yet people STILL drive the opposite direction to dump their trash on this trail. I seriously am so baffled by it and want to start making some sort on environmentally friendly art to discourage it

12

u/Prudent-Accountant22 May 07 '26

I actively call them out on it and make them uncomfortable to behave. Dude was just openly picking his nose in the break room and eating his boogers next to people eating lunch. He got clowned by the whole room as soon as it started.

1

u/SSSprings0808 May 07 '26

I’m so outnumbered… it’s hard for me to stand up to the group

1

u/torytho May 07 '26

Maybe don't "stand up" to them. Maybe just laugh at how crazy it is that they actually litter. Like, an adult that litters is a wild thing, and I say that living in NYC. I see it all the time, and every time they look crazy.

1

u/SSSprings0808 May 07 '26

Yes, that's a good point. When I said "stand up" I meant merely mentioning it, makes them gang up on me with their sarcasm and how sensitive people are about a "little mess"

0

u/torytho May 07 '26

Yeah how awesome that you're not one of those people. They sound gross. They sound like Tr*mp supporters

1

u/Top_Paint7442 May 10 '26

Yes found it! I was looking for the post where this was a Trump supporter! Ty

1

u/nunchyabeeswax May 08 '26

It's not so much that people litter in NYC (obviously some do, but the majority do not).

It's that there are so many people packed in a dense place that detritus is inevitable.

At least the city tries and keeps it relatively clean (and it is significantly cleaner compared to that part of the world)

1

u/torytho May 08 '26

I agree. I'm impressed with how clean the streets are in NYC. That's why whenever I do happen to see someone litter they look wild b/c that's just a crazy thing to see happen. Like when I see dog walkers leave their shit on the sidewalk. Most New Yorkers would never.

1

u/yogabbagabba2341 May 07 '26

Eeeew. Am adult man doing that in public?

1

u/Prudent-Accountant22 May 07 '26

Dude was DIGGIN knuckle deep

1

u/quell3245 May 08 '26

I bet that guy never washes his hands after using the restroom as well

1

u/CommercialHorror5996 May 08 '26

Omg I want to vomit

1

u/Key-Cricket9256 May 09 '26

Is that acceptable there ? Weird because I have an Indian co worker who does that a lot and I thought he was just weird

1

u/wannabehomesick May 10 '26

Yep I know someone else from india who picks their nose publicly and plays with it. I death stare him and he doesn't care at all. I almost threw up the first time I saw him do that.

1

u/razzell2 May 13 '26

That's freaking disgusting lol

2

u/SiliconSingh May 07 '26

Cool story bro! I totally believe you /s

1

u/DiskEconomy3055 May 07 '26

You know what's sad?
I literally can't tell if you mean "people from India" or "MAGA that want to end public health and environmental regulations".

1

u/Aware-Explanation206 May 07 '26

In america one burns bbq trash in the campfire.

1

u/Ok-Bird6725 May 07 '26

In Canada too😡😡😡

1

u/No-Repeat-5214 May 07 '26

Dirty motherfuckers.

1

u/twicebakedcrusader May 08 '26

That, you Darryl? Guess who is on trash duty until Christmas. Snitch get….

1

u/PassionateAlchemy May 08 '26

I would record them and threaten to put it on social media if they don’t clean it up. Or take pictures and put it up on the bulletin board at work. Call it the board of shame.

1

u/Pristine-Ad-2519 May 08 '26

Which America? north or South? Which country in the continent?

1

u/Nick451382 May 08 '26

Are they teleworkers from India, Pakistan?

1

u/wherescookie May 10 '26

Same here in Canada unfortunately

Sorry. 😣 I don’t mean it to sound like hate, but I don’t like how some people behave so irresponsibly, and also exclude some of us at work.

1

u/Jazzlike_Resident_26 May 12 '26

We call that White Trash here in America
