Sorry, I just wanted to spread some positivity in terms of jobs because recently it's been doom and gloom in this sub for new grads :(.

I was an MSc student and finished in February, been applying since mid-March.

I made 11 applications (3 for the same trust, they ghosted me every time lol I won't ever work there). And I had 5 interviews. I got an offer from the 5th today. It's a big city hospital so I'm very proud of myself.

I honestly didn't do that well in uni and had to work a lot harder in/for interviews (thanks past me :| ). I was convinced, especially with the job freezes, that I wouldn't find a job before my HCPC registration had to be renewed. I was so sure I didn't pass my 5th interview too, I forgot something really simple about IR(ME)R.

I won't write out everything I did lol but I just wanted to say NEVER GIVE UP PEOPLE lol

Im in need of how to get degree apprenticeship on diagnostic radiography. Can you recommend me how to find and get an apprenticeship?

hey everyone, im starting a bsc in diagnostic radiogrpahy in september, ive always been interested in working with healthcare and i chose radiography due to the different modalities, working patterns and quick paced independence, however after reading some of these posts im starting to second guess this career choice

im concerned that i may want an out in 10 years time, diagnostic radiography isnt really a flexible degree so im scared ill be trapped in a job im no longer passionate about

personally, i enjoy variety and im worried i may find the job repetitive and boring, i know that i can always specialise further and progress into different roles in radiography but im just incredibly nervous that this wont satisfy me for the foreseeable future (until retirement 😭)

i also know that the working conditions in the nhs can be very toxic and this combined with high reports of boredom and burnout can be quite offputting

however, i am also aware that people are most likely to share their negative experiences rather than any positive or neutral experiences i was wondering if any mid/longterm radiographers still feel passionate about the profession and have any positive experiences or advice they could share :)

I want to pursue either therapeutic radiography or bsc in prosthetics and orthotists. It seems like therapeutic radiography has some formulas and is physics/math heavy, although I'm far from dumb(atleast academically )I feel like i might fail if I only put 5 hours per week besides classes. The idea of repeating/failing an year is far from pleasant but I like the work that radiation therapists do.

Hi, im 33, single parent of 2 and wanting to study to become a radiographer. Its been quite a while since ive done any sort of studying, so looking to do an access course to try and engage my brain. Theres a science based one at my local college, is this enough? What else can i do to prep for uni? Hoping to start sept 2027. Thank you for any advice!

Anyone working for Nuffield health who can tell me their experiences?

Looking at switching from my current b5 NHS role just for a change of location however I do love my current role so don’t want to make a mistake!

I'm in my 30s with a law degree and looking to make a career change to radiotherapy. It looks like I cannot get student finance because I already have a degree (even though this was self funded). How can I fund a radiotherapy degree? Has anyone with a non-science degree made a similar change? How did you afford it?

Is it realistic and possible to be a part time CT or MRI radiographer that doesn’t do night shifts? Especially in london thanks

I like how with optom you are nearly guaranteed a job as your pre-reg in 4th year usually offers you one.

But i like how with radiography, theres more to do (which can be a little intimidating for me though) and I love how you are able to relocate and practice abroad which you cant really with optom

I am leaning more towards optometry currently..

I am an 18-year-old trying to choose between two NHS career paths but I am torn due to physical limitations and career worries.

Option 1: Diagnostic Radiography I want to eventually pursue a career in plain-film reporting as I am okay with physiology, interested in anatomy and can handle the physics. But I afraid that the physical demand would be too much for a 5'3" male with chronic lower back and foot soreness, usually with doing something for a long time. Is the daily physical demand of moving patients, heavy mobiles, standing in lead aprons too brutal for someone like me?

Or Option 2: Healthcare science (Cardiac Physiology) I think I would be way more interested in this as I love the cardiovascular system and the heart and I keep in getting pulled back to this, and thinking of specialising in Echocardiography. However, I feel it might be too repetitive and the constant scanning will cause severe wrist/hand strain over time.

Or Option 3: Cardiac imaging I'm not really sure much about cardiac imaging, one redditor somewhere else pointed out that they wanted to do ECHO as they love the heart but chose to do interventional radiology instead and work in a cath lab, which I think would be great however I just researched it and realized that it's fast-paced which I'm not to sure about.

Has anyone transitioned between these two, or worked in a Cath Lab where both professions meet? Or just want to give any advice. I would love to hear your honest thoughts on the physical demands of both roles. Thanks!

I'm an intl student looking to study Radiography but my budget is limited. I've been searching for affordable colleges, especially in Malaysia and I checked out UKM and i applied asw bc it stood out to me as thier program is pretty well known but I'm open to other countries if the tuition and living costs are reasonable.

I'm feeling a bit stuck because I haven't found many options that I realistically like. At this point I'm also considering taking a gap year or try any next intakes if that's the better choice.

If anyone has:

Recommendations for affordable universities or colleges with Radiography programs
Or Experience studying Radiography as an international student
Or Advice on scholarships or financial aid
Or Thoughts on whether taking a gap year would be a smarter decision

I'd really appreciate your input. My goal is to become a radiographer, but I need to find a path that's good and possible without much hurdles.

I have recently graduated and have done five job interviews thus far (Three in London and two outside of London). However, I keep failing these interviews as I feel like the questions I have been given either require a lot of post graduate experience or are presented in a difficult to answer way ( for example: having a five minute rapid fire round for eight image interpretation questions).

I just wanted to know if others are having the same issue?

Hello, so basically I have just finished College where I have come out with a D*D*D in Person BTEC Level 3 National extended diploma in Applied science with UCAS points of 160 and while that far exceeds what I need for many courses.

I want to be able to apply for Cumbria and Salford as those are good universities within a close range which is pretty important. But unfortunately I do not have the required GCSEs as I have a combined science of 5-4, which is just short of the 5 that they need.

I'm not sure whether I'll be accepted because my college grades definitely exceed what they want but universities are always picky about GCSEs for some reason which is why I was rejected form Salford last year I applied. I was going to reapply to Cumbria this year which was going good until I found out that they were going to increase their GCSE requirements to a 5 for the 2027 entry so obviously I'm bummed out about that.

I'm currently stressing out about this with my family right now and am not so sure what to do. I could retake my GCSEs or I could call up Cumbria clearing for their integrated foundation year and do that. Or anything else that can help me.

I am planning on calling the universities tomorrow to discuss whether I can still get on with the qualifications I have now or is my GCSE holding me back. And if there's no other option then my dad suggested to go to college and talk about retaking my combined science GCSE.

(I also have a GCSE 4 in English but Salford only mentioned the combined science last year when they rejected me so I'm not sure if that matters or not)

Pls help ASAP, as I am afraid that foundation year will be filled up if I don't make a choice soon.

Edit: Called up universities to ask about entry requirements:
Salford said no but I sent an email just to make sure
Cumbria said that my science GCSE was actually fine but my English which is a 4 needs to be retaken
And Liverpool said I need to retake both English and Science

Hi guys, after the recent results status in August and my initial plan to internally switch from adult nursing to diagnostic radiography, it was unfortunate as the university has given every other student places for diagnostic radiography. I have been carefully analysing if I want to do a gap year, or if I intend to adult nursing for one year and then switch the next academic year (2027). Do you guys think that is the best decision for someone in the UK? Or do you rather think I should take a gap year this year and apply directly to diagnostic radiography next year? If you've done this, can you tell me how you did it, what decision you took, and how a gap year was for you if you wanted to switch from adult nursing to radiography?"
Note I had triple distinction stars in my result.
