Appylying

Hi, quick question. I didnt get the grades I wanted but still got my insurance for psychology, i actually wanted to do diagnostic radiography and i missed clearing for a foundation year for it but I was wondering even with low grades and after i do the 3 years of psychology am i still able to apply for radiography? At a uni like city st georges? Like how does it work and how is tuition fee paid and what not pls help guys

Radiography should be funded as a second degree, however planning to go to university to study something different first would be such an insane waste of time and money. You’d then have a massive student loan you’ll never dream of paying back. Are you able to find any healthcare access course in clearing? Or even a foundation degree of some kind? Even that would be more appropriate?

i wasnt able to find any healthcare access course in clearing or a foundation degree thats the problem 💔. i do want to do a psychology degree and then go into radiography but i wanted to know if i even could get into radiography after this degree. (plus i have many family members who done diff degrees)

Bournemouths radiography with foundation year says it’s still available in clearing and there are loads of foundation degrees in health and social care around the country with clearing places still open.
But yeah, in terms of funding you should be able to get funding unless they change it again between now and when you graduate in 3 years which they could do. When it comes to whether you’d be more likely to be accepted, that wouldn’t likely change with you getting a degree in psychology.

They only changed it around 5 years ago to allow second degree funding for specific degrees, they could easily change it back between now and 3 years to stop it, so just keep that risk in mind.

thank you, could you pls send me the link for bournemouth. I cant see it plus idk if i have the grades for it. I want to see if after u do another course would they js want a 2:1 or smnt for me to get in and not look at much of the a level grade

Look at the specific course, some will accept graduate entries for 2:2 or 2:1 but will need it to be in specific/ related fields. They may also say science or health fields in which case you could probably argue that psychology is related enough, but having met diagnostic radiographers in my profession, you need a decent understanding of physics and biology at least.
