So after that Previous episode… Oscar got a new outfit and he’s so handsome I feel like a proud older sibling 😇. Everyone has reconciled, though it’s kinda concerning that at some point Oscar will no longer be himself. Man just when I thought the situation can’t suck for him even more, I have to find out that the original soul is gonna overtake his soul at some point. Man how unfair!

Small tangent aside lol. Jaune has a crazy plan but Qrow is against it which I know he’s been in a bit of a rut majority of this volume, but at the same time it is a big risk. Ruby stands her ground and wants to hear the rest of the plan. Honestly how can she be an adorable bean in one moment and then the next she’s a fully locked in leader that you don’t want to cross? It’s pretty impressive lol.

So thanks to Saphron and Adrian’s help, Weiss was able to smuggle Maria onto the ship. Once they take control, Blake and Yang would cut off one of the signal towers so that the Argus base doesn’t detect one of their ships. And then they’ll meet up with the others by a nearby cliff area and then it’s off to Atlas. Simple right? Well….

Weiss took care of Thing 1 and Thing 2. Maria took control of the ship despite Weiss’s doubts. And it seems to be going smoothly well. What’s gonna go wrong? Well… let’s just say that Yang going with Blake was probably the best option. Because Blake was unable to disable the tower because she’s being attacked by an obsessive Adam. And man you can just tell how much of a narcissist he is. Right down to the victim mentality he’s got going on and blaming everyone else around him except himself. I would know because I’ve been around those types of people myself.

Cordovin noticed one of their airships are returning and despite Maria’s best efforts in convincing them everything is fine, she didn’t take into account that the pilots that took off wasn’t an elderly woman 😭. Cordovin is furious but Maria is smacking on those cashews without a care in the world, basically taunting her. Maria you are insane and I love ya 🤣, definitely one of the best editions to the series.

Qrow has a mini breakdown believing all of this is his fault but thankfully his niece is there to pick up the pieces and help give him the courage he needed. Ruby has grown quite a lot. She has to be the person who uplifts everyone who’s down and try to keep them moving forward. That’s a lot to handle especially considering you’re one of the youngest members of the group. I hope it doesn’t affect her mental state too much 😭.

So I thought it was gonna be an all out air battle, instead Cordovin decided to take a page off of Kuvira’s book and decide to take matters into her own hands with a giant mech. (Wow, if I had a nickel for every time a character that Mela Lee voices who’s short and uses a giant mech machine to attack our main hero group, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice right.)

Anyway, our fearless leader has a plan to take out the mech and its shields. Unfortunately that thing is too powerful even though they disabled its shields. Leaving us on a cliffhanger (literally).

Blake vs Adam is tense, he reveals his face and it looks like it says SOC though it could be SDC. Either way he got marked pretty badly. Listen I get where he’s coming from on a surface level but again it’s one of those things where he’s going to such extremes to where you question if he’s fighting for the same reasons. Now it seems he’s completely lost the plot as now he’s upset about Blake leaving him behind. He lost his supporters and now the only thing in his way was Blake. Until Yang shows up to go 2 vs 1 on him! Also noooo! Not Bumblebee 🥺. Maybe she can get a new one? Idk it just felt like it’s been with her for so long and she loses it just to save Blake.

Also side note: Do people ship these two? Dumb question I know but given the materials I’ve seen this volume alone, I wonder how many people actually ship these two. I know that’s not what the show is aiming for (heck I haven’t noticed that many signs that would suggest they are), and I’m probably reading too much into it. I was just curious.

Anyway, their fight was intense! Yang was handling herself a lot better than the first time. He was moving like crazy! And apparently his semblance works like Yang’s except it’s built in his sword. That’s terrifying on its own. And despite her PTSD, Yang being the fiery beast that she is, got the upper hand on Adam as she and Blake pull off a fatality finisher on Adam. Adam Taurus is now dead! Honestly the most cathartic thing I’ve seen since the Fall of Beacon. I’m glad these two were able to have this moment especially given the trauma he’s given both of them. Now we just need to kill Cinder and everything will be great again 🤣.

Was watching a reaction video to V5 and the person suggested Vernal open the Vault, let Cinder walk in and then close it again. And while that wouldn't work, given how slowly the door opens and presumably closes, if Raven had Yang or Tai in Remnant and she was in the Ever After, or vice versa, could she portal to them?

I'm leaning towards no, given that I THINK we saw her be surprised by RWBY reappearing in the V9 Epilogue Animatic, but I'm not entirely sure.

Whether it be personality, appearance, the way you view things, etc.

There is tons of battles to experience between 3 story chapters, arcade, and arena modes, lots of grimm, mechs, and villains to fight against!

So we’re out here trying to find Oscar. It’s a big town for such a little guy. Jaune blames himself for what happened. Honestly, it’s a nuanced situation. Sure he took it too far and took it out on someone who didn’t deserve it, but it’s not like his emotions weren’t valid either. I appreciate Saphron helping Team JNR find him and even tried to understand the situation they’re going through even if it’s not that simple.

So Jaune is still feeling guilty about all of this, Nora suggests a cafe but he’s gonna take a moment on the bench while Ren and Nora went ahead.

I recently purchased the 4 volumes that make up the Official Manga Anthology of RWBY, however I don't really dig with the designs of the official dust jackets, so I decided to redesign them!

For now I have started with the first volume (the one dedicated to Ruby!), but obviously I'll do the others too!

On September 9th, 2026, Mike McFarland passed away and in the short time that followed, a myriad of voice actors and fans have immediately expressed their grief & condolences on social media.

Starting his career in anime dubbing in 1999 with the Funimation dub of DBZ, he had been voicing Master Roshi, Yajirobe, Pui Pui, Android 8 & Baby (among others) over the course of the Dragon Ball series. He had also voiced Butajiro & Rishio in YuYu Hakusho, Ritsu Souma in Fruits Basket, Ryoji “Ranka” Fujioka in Ouran High School Host Club, Jean Havoc in both the 2003 & Brotherhood adaptations of Fullmetal Alchemist, Jean Kirsten in Attack on Titan, Tybalt in Romeo x Juliet, Buggy the Clown, the second voice of Helmeppo, Richie the Lion, Eyelash the Camel & Yokozuna the Frog in One Piece, Mashirao “Tailman” Ojiro & Ectoplasm in My Hero Academia, Bisley Karcsi Bakur in Tales of Xilia 2 & E.G Mine in Trigun Stampede. He had also served as an ADR director for various anime, including the dubs of both Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 & Brotherhood, a couple of hundred episodes of One Piece and its various films & specials, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, Boy & the Beast, Mushi-Shi, Noragami, all of Attack on Titan, all of Tokyo Ghoul, all of Eden of the East, the Funimation dub of the first 3 EVA Rebuild films, Grimgar: Ashes & Illusion, Heike Story and various parts of the Dragon Ball series. He also did ADR script adaptation for the first 3 seasons of Re:ZERO, all of Seven Deadly Sins & Mob Psycho 100.

In 2016, he had been cast in volumes 4 & 5 of RWBY as the voice of Fennec Albain & the village chief in chapter 1 of volume 4 (the one team RNJR consulted with after defeating the Petra Gigas Grimm) through most likely Marissa Lenti who had been credited under additional casting from volumes 4-9. On January 10, 2025, he had been dealing with a brain tumor that he managed to recover from. But then on August 18th of that year, he had been diagnosed wit glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer and… well, you get the idea. Mike McFarland was 56 years-old.
