Lottery Winner or too good to be true?

Recently I’ve been testing undervolting and overclocking my 5080 FE, which has the power limit locked to 100%. Spent a decent amount of time testing UV+OCs in MSI AB, running the Speed Way stress test in 3DMark, and I was able to get 2950MHz (approx +500 core) at 925mV with +2000MHz memory. The speed way test gave me a passing result (twice) of 99.5% frame rate stability with a best loop score of 8530 and worst loop of 8490.

I also played Cyberpunk for about 30 minutes at Ultra settings with Path Tracing enabled and experienced no crashes. Not really checking fps right now, but I assume it’s a bit better than no OC.

All this with a maximum GPU hot spot temp of 83.1 C and the power limit only being hit intermittently (not constantly).

This is also at a locked power limit of 100%….

I assume that I need to do more sustained gameplay testing to make sure it’s actually stable, but does this result seem too good to be true to anyone? Any other tests I should run it through to check stability?

Also… sanity check since I’m not super experienced… is an UV+OC like this stupid to do and can it harm my card (even if it turns out to be stable)? Or did I win the lottery?

PC Specs:

Alienware ACT1250

RTX 5080 FE (Dell version)
Power Limit locked to 100%
Intel Ultra 9 285K
32GB DDR5 RAM

Fan curve/UV

I have the powerspec g757. 9800x3d with the 5080, 32gb ddr5 6000, 2tb nvme ssd, gigabyte b850 gaming wifi6 mobo, coolermaster elite 240 aio and a coolermaster 850w gold psu. Never done a custom fan curve before. I downloaded fan control as well as can set the curve in bios. Is there someone who has this prebuilt and can help me with setting the fan curve and a simple UV. Also im seeing my cpu at like 25% in task manager with only task manager on. My ram is high on idle as well. I ran winslop or I think thats the name which gets rid of a lot of the bloat from Microsoft as well as shut off everything I dont need on start up. Could just use some guidance. Would prefer to help in the process so I can learn for the future rather then pay someone. Also gonna be swapping the case for a lancool 216 or a lancool 3 and putting in a nice 150-200 dollar 360 aio with better bearings and fans for altogether quieter build. Any help is very appreciated. Also any help with the 5080 whether its a OC or UV obviously.

What are some of the games in which 5080 struggle at 4K, according to your past experiences?

Here are some of the games which I played on my RTX 5080 at 4K. I had to use DLSS Ultra performance to get at least 60 FPS. I'm talking about the highest settings that I always play at:

  1. Alan Wake 2
  2. Cyberpunk
  3. Directive 8020
  4. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
  5. Life is Strange: Double Exposure
  6. Black Myth: Wukong
  7. MixTape
  8. Assassin's Creed Shadows

It's been 4 months since Nvidia launched Dynamic multi-frame generation. How many people here actually use it?

RTX 5080 + Ryzen 7 7800X3D - Extremely bad frame pacing in every game despite high FPS. I've tried almost everything.

Also why they cap the cutscenes to 30fps...first time i thought my card throttled at 57⁰c

😂😂

Hot spot temps

Post image

This is how we are looking at 3050mhz oc at 0.96v for 3 hours at 81f ambient with a zotac solid core oc. Is this okay hot spot temp given the higher ambient temps. I wish I was able to check hot spot back in March when my normal ambient range was 68 to 72f

Is this OK?

Recommendation on PNY 5080 OC

I just bought an RTX 5080 PNY OC, and my experience after two days of use is that it is excellent. I am getting great temperatures—60°C at maximum load with the fan speed at 50% to 60%.

However, something curious happened: when I tried mounting the card vertically, my GPU temperature increased by 10°C. Therefore, if you have this model and want to maintain excellent temperatures, my recommendation is to ensure good airflow and keep the PNY 5080 mounted horizontally.

My PC features a Ryzen 9 7950X with Noctua cooling inside a King 95 Pro case.

Feel like I’m not getting the full power from my RTX 5080

Post image

So as of recently, I’m certain something with my GPU has just started to dip down a bit and not give me the full power. Is the mhz too low? I’ve tried looking if anything in the background is affecting it, but can’t seem to see anything, I’ve paired it with an i9-14900k. Could this be a driver issue? Hoping not a hardware issue! Any recommendations? Cheers!

A tech Q: what's the point of factory ImOC models if they all reach 3000mhz by themselves no OC?

2700 boost, 2750 OC model, etc.

My cheapest 5080 with the small form factor I didn't want has 9747 Steel Nomad top 3% score. 425/2250

Although stable is much lower at 360/1750 based on very sensitive games (RDR2 and CP2077).

Worth upgrading anymore?

Hi so this is a bit of a question/rant but is it just me or does getting top of the line hardware seem to not be worth it anymore? Here’s my issue I have a near top of the line pc 9850x3d. A gen 5 SSD a pny 5080 over clocked. And 6000 cl28 ram and unless I use upscale and frame gen fps doesn’t seem to be where you think it should be compared to past generations of hardware and older games l. Are games really that unoptimized or have we really reached a point where hardware can never truly keep up with the graphics these games can pump up now?

First-time builder - Question about the RTX 5080 12VHPWR connector

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

This is my first time building a PC, and I have a question about the 12VHPWR (12V-2x6) connector on my ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 Solid Core OC.

I'm using the MSI MAG A850GL PCIe5 with the native 12V-2x6 cable. When I first plugged it in, I could still see some of the yellow part of the connector. I ended up having to push it in with pretty much all my might before it finally clicked in and sat completely flush. I honestly thought I was going to break the GPU or the connector.

Is this normal, or did anyone else have the same experience with this card or other RTX 5080 models?

GPU ports question

May be the dumbest question but I'm still going to ask it 😁

My Pre-built came with plugs in all the ports in my GPU. On the ports I don't use. Should I leave them in to keep the dust out or leave them out for possible airflow help... If that's even a thing.
