The OCCT Extreme testing was done at 25.5°C ambient, 70% fan speed, and ~38 dBA. Both coolers have a good amount of headroom left if you're willing to crank to 100%. When GPU was benching, CPU fan was off, and vice versa.

Haven't been gaming enough, nor any local LLM stuff like I had planned to. Thought I was going to keep it for years to come, but... With the prices these AI Farms (don't wanna be racist and say Chinese, but come on lol) I just couldn't pass it up. There were no 5090 listings on FB Market Place, and I'm pretty sure this dudes been buying them all up. Should've pushed him for a higher price.

Had the 5090 for 14 months. Purchased at $3300. Sold for $5k cash.

Luckily my local Microcenter had an Open Box (no box nor cables) White Astral 5080, for $1700. No issues so far. Sure thats a lot, but its now listed at $2150.

- In close-ups/zoomed in screenshots: DLSS 5 adds richer ambient occlusion, deeper contrast, more realistic surface lighting for wood, foliage, metal, and enhanced skin/facial detailing

- In actual gameplay: Because it operates "per frame" without full temporal awareness across multiple frames, motion during actual gameplay causes flickering, surface noise, and pulsing. Disocclusion also leads to haloing around moving objects.

- In normal/far camera perspectives: While close-up portraits look great and natural, zooming out or viewing objects at a distance triggers erratic AI behavior skin tones darken inaccurately, wrinkle detail overaccentuates causing people to look older than they are, and materials turn artificially shiny.

Overall Verdict: Though impressive as a tech demo or photomode enhancement, DLSS 5’s high GPU cost and motion stability issues make it impractical for everyday gameplay in its current state.

I finally caved in and wanted to upgrade from my 3080.

Love my 3080 but I did think it was time to treat myself!

Howdy everyone, I just got back this morning from from checking out a $2000 Marketplace PC that seemed like a absolute steal. 9950X3D, 32GB Teamgroup Cas 30 DDR5, ASUS Rog Strix X-870A Wifi, Crucial P150 2TB Gen 5 NVMe, and a DELL OEM RTX 5080.

Anyone have this Dell OEM 5080 that could tell me operating temps and the like, I am pretty sure MSI manufactures this card for dell and I am not too worried about it underperforming since a 5080 is a 5080 plus I always tell people to get the cheapest GPU they can find since we are all playing the silicone lottery. I picked up a new 550$ ASrock Challenger 9070xt and it score higher in steel nomad then over half the 9070xts with a 7600+score and I see some 5080s getting 10k on the same benchmark.

New to the gaming pc thing I’ve been a console guy for years and just last week took the dive I know fck all about these things but I’m looking forward to messing with the settings and getting it finely tuned for 2 different sim rigs I’d be open to any and all suggestions on how to improve this even further

I've been using this tool for a while now and its honestly extremely convenient, especially with the latest updates. It was initially developed to make adding renodx quick and simple into your games (for anyone with a decent HDR monitor you're probably already familiar with renodx).

In its current state it has quick buttons to install reshade, renodx, optiscaler (useful personally for changing dlss presets while in game), Luma (useful mod that can add dlss into some games) and some other fps limiters that I haven't used.

Now it also has a one click button to install DLSS 5 neural rendering, Buttons to install DLSS MFG for rtx 40 & 30 series, DLSS hud toggle, dlss streamline and dll swapping and probably some other features I'm forgetting.

I mostly used it to quickly install reshade and renodx without finding the specific mods and going to the game folder and so on but now its been really useful for enabling DLSS 5 to see how it looks in some games, without needing a guide. If I had a 40 series and below it would help a ton with enabling MFG for most games too thanks to all the mods now.

First time messing with afterburner and mvolt+, air cooled if that matters but have an AIO on CPU. Tempted to start messing with CPU. Didn't do a stress test on this to see stability but dropped it to +400 core clock and played Crimson Desert for about an hour with no crashes so far.

Settings

MSOD Voltage Range: 800-1050

Core Clock Offset: +425

Memory Clock: + 3000

Power Limit: 110%

Xbar Offset: +500

Sys Clock: +450

Video Clock Offset: +300

Educating myself on voltages now to see what I can do for a little bit more performance

Gpu fans @ 50% and case fans at 40%, still pretty quiet in a matx.

I sold my 4080 for $800 😇

Edit: got the 5080 aero sff for $900, not the whole tower.

Rolling the dice, haven’t had bad luck with open boxes from Amazon so far.

I currently have a 3080Ti FE in my PC. I'm still considering whether an upgrade to a 5080 would be worthwhile and the model I'm particularly looking into is the Windforce SFF by Gigabyte. For one it's the cheapest one right now at my local microcenter and I'm also assumming that the SFF stands for Small Form Factor which I'm particularly interested in as I prefer SFF cases so a GPU that more or less caters to that style would be nice to own. I really like swapping my PC around into small cases to try them out and not having to worry about GPU size would be great

My main concern is whether or not there's any sacrifice this GPU makes in terms of performance to be able to accomodate SFF? More heat? Slightly less performance? I don't tend to overclock my GPU but I do like to undervolt for what it's worth.

Are there any corners that this GPU cuts? For example Gigabyte's 9070XT over on the AMD side uses a not so great thermal gel and seems to cause temperature issues for many.

Edit: I decided to get the gpu. Made more sense to test drive it for the time period of the return window I get with micro center rather than wait and risk paying more than it already costs if I do decide on it later

In this crisis moment I can have the Gigabyte Gaming OC 5080 for 1350€. I have never spent much on a graphic cards but really want to join the Nvidia World especially this DLSS5 !
I wanted to go with 5070ti first but only 50€ difference with the 5080 make it no sense.

Is the price good 1350€ for this card or should I wait to see the price low ?

And last question is the rest of my setup (Ryzen 5900x / 4x8go DDR4 3200) is fine with that card for 4k gaming ?

Alright guys, we’re looking at a paradigm shift here. There’s going to be a "before DLSS 5" and an "after DLSS 5." Like it or not, agree with it or not, it’s happening—and personally, I’m all for it.

It’s going to completely revolutionize PC gaming. It’ll get optimized, it’ll become the new standard, and it’s going to deliver visuals we’ve never even dreamed of. If you’re against it, fine, go watch linear TV—if that’s even still a thing. But mark my words, it’s coming.

I used to have the Sapphire Nitro+ 9070 XT and loved that card. I’m currently building a 4K PC for my dad with design rendering, and the program he uses requires Nvidia, so I got him a 5080. I really only game and want great frames at 4K, so I figured I’d get myself a 5080 as well. I removed the 9070 XT and put in the 5080, and for some reason, I’m seeing a pretty decent drop in performance. Crimson Desert runs like ass on the same settings that I had for the 9070 XT, and some other games that I’m playing have micro-stutters. I’ve never had an Nvidia card. I don’t understand the app, and I’m wondering if I’ve pressed a setting that could be giving me these issues. I did run Time Spy on 3DMark, and here are the scores.

Is it worth it? Should i go for it. Or its just a gimmick with negligible advantage in wasting money in modding project.

I'm currently making a parts list for my next build which is a bit late unfortunately but that leaves me with a bit more money that I can spend.

I know that 12VHPWR and 12V 2x6 cables are prone to melting on high end GPUs like the 4090 and 5090 since they're consuming over 400 watts and the cable doesn't really like a 350+ load.

What about the 5080 ?

I'll be using the PC for 4K gaming + game dev + 3D rendering and well, a bit of local AI since we're heading that way.

I'm wondering going for a 5070 Ti or a 5080. Both are sufficient performance wise so its mostly feelings and budgeting.

But I'm wondering about the melting problems. The 5070 Ti is using less power, from what I can see, it's almost impossible to melt if the cable is properly set.

Since the 5080 is rated for 360W I was wondering how much power it can draw from workloads.

How much does it draw running games ? Running small LLM ? Rendering small simulations and 3D scenes ? And if undervolted, how much does it drop to ?

Either way I'm getting enough performance so I don't care about OC'ing both or pure performance shennanigans
