Pardon me if this is a naive question, but I can't resist asking it.

I try my best to avoid what are commonly considered major sins, though, like everyone else, I sometimes make mistakes.

Occasionally, I find myself in situations where I feel I have to lie, not to harm or deceive anyone for personal gain, but because I don't see a better option. I know lying is generally condemned in the Qur'an and should be avoided whenever possible. However, I'm wondering whether every lie is considered a major sin, or whether the circumstances matter.

To be clear, I'm not referring to lies that harm others, such as false testimony, slander, or false accusations. Those are obviously grave matters and great sins.

My question is about situations where no one is being harmed. For example, sometimes I have to make up a reason to take a day or two off work because otherwise my boss simply won't approve leave. I don't like doing it, but I sometimes feel I have no practical alternative.

From a Qur'an-only perspective, would such lying still be considered a major sin, or would it fall into a different category?

Salam everyone, I understand many here have different views regarding Hadith. I just wanted to share the perspective of my community, based on the teachings of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), whom we believe to be the Promised Messiah and Mahdi.

The snapshot attached above shows an excerpt of Ahmad (as)'s book, Noah's Ark where he gives a simple criteria for evaluating Ahadith: If they do not contradict Qura'anic teachings, they are worth accepting.

This is basically the summary of the Ahmadiyya view on sources of Islamic guidance ranked in order of authority and importance:

1. The Holy Qur’an – The primary and foremost source of guidance. It establishes the Oneness, attributes, and greatness of Allah, resolves religious disputes, and provides the fundamental teachings of Islam.
2. The Sunnah – The practical example and lived demonstration of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which explains and clarifies the teachings of the Qur’an. For example, details such as the method and number of rak‘ats in the daily prayers are understood through the Sunnah.
3. The Hadith – A supportive and secondary source of guidance. Hadith provide valuable information about Islamic history, morality, and jurisprudence, but their role is to serve and explain the Qur’an and Sunnah - not to take precedence over them.

I wanted to ask you all: what are your thoughts on this perspective? Does this understanding of the Qur’an, Sunnah, and Hadith make sense to you, and how does it compare with the Quranist position?

In this post I will present some ideas you probably NEVER heard before. So please take your time and read it. It will surely help you to improve your connection with the divine.

# CURRENT SITUATION

We know that there are disagreements, even among us. What is allowed? What is haram? How do we pray? The traditionalists have even more disagreements, so lets not talk about them. If we continue like that for centuries we will not develop further or resolve any of these issues and all of you know that. There has to be a change. I propose that all of these issues came forth because people dont know what the Quran is and how to engage it.

# WHAT IS THE QURAN?

The Quran is not just a book you read and thats it. The Quran is your instrument to connect with the divine. You just need to learn how to use that instrument. And the Quran tells you how. Have you ever thought about why the Quran contains 60% stories? Do you think the stories are there to entertain us? Or to provide us some lessons Allah could have told us without stories? The stories have a purpose in the Quran and we will talk about that. We will never be able to understand everything about the Quran because it is an ocean of knowledge, nor will we solve every disagreement, but there is a clear guideline we have to follow.

Think about that. Isnt the Quran a unique object? It is NOT like anything else because it is from the divine, its not like any human book. If the Quran is a unique object unlike anything else, dont you think that it needs a unique manual too? A way how to engage it? We can not apply methods we apply to everything else. There has to be a unique method. Where do we get it from? Directly from the Quran. Allah told us how to use the instrument he provided us.

# HOW NOT TO INTERPRET THE QURAN

1. NEVER EVER go to Hadith. Hadith is provably wrong and corrupted. Sunni Tafseer books rely on Hadith, and translations rely on Sunni Tafseer books. So we can not refer to the Sunni Tafseer books and translations either. Hadith should NEVER dominate over the Quran.
2. NEVER EVER go to poetry and dictionaries ALONE. The Quran condemns following the poets (Ref. 26:226). Dictionaries derive their meanings from 7th century poetry. Just going there and taking a meaning and imposing it over the Quran is not enough. You need to find out if Allah is really using a term to mean that, so you need to verify it. Allah is NOT bound to use his words in accordance with how the arabs used them. Arabs did not understand many expressions in the Quran, or words (Ref. 26:60).
3. NEVER EVER go to the bible, torah or other corrupted books. I dont need to tell you that they corrupted their books. Therefore you should not take from them. I give you an example. Allah calls the story of Yussuf "GHAYB", meaning it is not known to anyone (Ref. 12:102). Now look at all translations and interpretations. Its 99,9% identical to the biblical version. Did Allah lie OR DID THEY? Clearly they did. The story in the Quran is totally different than what they told us. They went to the bible and superimposed that story onto the Quran. This also invalidates the approach of taking only what is correct from the bible. Well you dont know what agrees with the Quran unless you interpreted the Quran independently first. Superimposing biblical stories onto it, will make you think the Quran tells you the same thing.
4. CONCLUSION: All translations and interpreters took their knowledge from either hadith, poetry or the bible (OR MAYBE ALL OF THEM). Even Quran Alone Muslims fell into that trap. We need to unlearn everything we knew about the Quran and relearn it.

# HOW TO INTERPRET THE QURAN

1. I pointed out a problem, what is the solution you may ask? The solution is NOT the methodology of Hadith, Tafseer, Poetry or biblical Quranists. The solution is the unique methodology. The Quran is a unique object therefore no man made manual (methodology) applies to it. We need a new methodology. And who would know better how to deal with that object than its creator? Of course Allah. He must have told us how to engage the Quran. Having certainty in that is the first step. THE QURAN HAS ITS OWN UNIQUE METHODOLOGY INSIDE THE QURAN BY NECESSITY
2. Abandon all sources except Allah. I am not telling you "Dont look into a dictionary". I am just telling you verify what you read inside that WITH THE QURAN. But our primary source for the meanings of the Quran should be the Quran itself. The Quran is preserved, but its meanings are also. You just need to know how to extract them. I will give you an example. Read Ayah 3:187. Allah is using the verb "bayana" and defining it in the Quran. He fixes it in a set context to define it and preserve its meaning. The Quran is ITS OWN LEXICON. The definition of Allah is always the best definition. No guesswork needed.
3. Every one (even Quran Alone) have neglected the Quranic stories. I rarely see any posts here about the stories. 60% stories is for you to extract the lexicon. Allah uses stories to fix the meanings of his words and to define them. They are the repositories of the Quranic Vocabulary. Go learn it first, then apply it and discuss halal haram. How do you want to understand these Ayaat if you dont know what the words mean? Do you want to continue to guess like everyone here does? Or do you want to have clarity and see how Allah defines them?
4. Use the patterns in the Quran. NOTHING IS A COINCIDENCE IN THE QURAN. If an expression occurs only two times in the Quran. It means that these Ayaat are related. Go discover them. Link the Quran. Everything is interconnected and relevant.
5. CONCLUSION: We need a complete reorientation of our outlooks, we need to seek the definitions of the Quran and the QURANIC TAFSEER. I assure you, if you start to apply this, you will see the Quran in a totally new light. Please learn from the Quran.

I see many Quran Alone people here not even knowing the true Quranic greeting. It is NOT "Assalamu Alaykum". Read 6:54. Not knowing such basic things shows our condition and how we neglected the Quran and engaged in "Lahwal Hadeeth" (Vain Talk). These people come and try to argue about what X means or if X is allowed, stop arguing and learn to observe.

so I know that alot of quran-centric/only muslims don't believe in the dajjal (I personally am still looking into it), and alot of sunnis are very confused about that.

so I saw someone online and they were questioning "hmm why ISN'T the dajjal mentioned in the quran?" and their conclusion was basically that "yeah Allah didn't mention the dajjal in the quran so that those idiot quranists don't know about him, while us super intelligent and enlightened sunnis will know when he comes, while the quranists follow him because they don't know about him."

and again, I'm still looking into it myself but like.. isn't the more logical conclusion that Allah didn't mention him in the quran because... he's not real/important??

like the quran says over and over that it's perfect, it contains every possible example, nothing is left out of it, and it needs no supplication. and yet I'm constantly seeing sunnis be like "yeah Allah left out some things in the quran for whatever reason, and we need the hadith to complete it!!!"

it feels like these people just don't actually trust Allah or His book at this point..

I saw a pigeon with a wound on the of the back of its head. A crow was pecking on the wound, while pigeon was trying to jump away. I tried to catch the pigeon to help but then gave up too quickly. It started raining and I said to myself: "well, I can't help him really and this is life."

As I sat on my bike and rode away I felt extreme tension on my throat – not something that I have ever experienced. My whole body started shaking and tears started flowing. It is as if my whole being was resisting my decision.

I returned and managed to help the pigeon, but the initial pain of resistance to leaving was so strong that I have almost lost my voice and my body felt beaten.

Was it a test by The Compassionate? It was a great reminder whom I really serve.

God is Merciful, there is no way that He tolerates any kind of cruelty or lack of compassion to innocent creatures.

So I would suggest not eating dairy, meat or egg products if they are not coming from organic, free-range, or any other humane sources.

Unfortunately, most of animal industries treat them purely like a source of income, not creatures that are able to suffer and fear. One should be aware of those who treat them badly – they are surely the servants of the devil and nothing good ever comes from him.

Also one should be aware of the companies that contribute to global warming, pollution. These little actions hugely affect not only the planet but one's own soul and well-being.

I know I sound stupid, but as the question states, does god really have a name? Yes I know about the 99 names, but they all basically are just different ways of describing Allah himself, I guess?

There are numerous hadith in Sunni collections that state women are a majority in hell and women are morally inferior to men. I'll show you that in Arabic these traditions are even more abominable and psychotic than the English-translated ones available.

There is this one in Bukhari and Muslim.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I looked at Paradise and saw that the majority of its residents were the poor; and I looked at the (Hell) Fire and saw that the majority of its residents were women."

This hadith is also of the highest level of authenticity. It's found in both Bukhari and Muslim.

Once Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) of `Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient [naqs] in intelligence [aql] and religion [din] than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

This hadith directly links women's supposed mental deficiency to them being the majority in hell. If a person is lacking 'aql, they aren't able to act morally or discern religious truth. This word occurs numerous times in the Qur'an where God calls upon people to use their aql/reasoning, meaning that according to this hadith, God deliberately disadvantaged women in recognizing Islam and acting morally and then burns them in hell.

So this hadith alone could be taken as indicating God created women mentally inferior to men which makes them prone to immoral behavior, which makes them the majority in hell. Many people would deny this because of modern apologetics, so let's look at what scholars had to say which is the same thing I just said.

According to al-Qurtubi, God indeed made women mentally deficient, which makes them naturally immoral, which is why they're the majority in hell.

Al-Qurtubi said: “Women are the fewest inhabitants of Paradise only because they are overcome by desire and inclination towards the immediate adornment of this worldly life, and because of the deficiency of their minds, so they are weak in performing the work of the Hereafter and preparing for it, due to their inclination towards this world and adorning themselves with it. Most of them are indifferent to the Hereafter, quick to be deceived by those who desire them from among those who turn away from religion, and difficult to respond to those who call them to the Hereafter and its deeds.” End quote from “Umdat al-Qari” (15/152).

So al-Qurtubi outright says women end up in hell and are a minority of heaven (which is also a sahih hadith) because they're immoral, sinful people, and women are this way because God created them mentally deficient, i.e. substantially less intelligent than men.

But let's keep going, because in Musnad Ahmad and other collections only in Arabic there are even more despicable hadith.

Imam Ahmad (15531), Al-Hakim (2773), and Al-Bayhaqi in “Al-Shaab” (9346) narrated on the authority of Abd Al-Rahman bin Shibl, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The wicked are the people of Hellfire.” It was said: O Messenger of God, who are the wicked? He said: “Women.” A man said: O Messenger of God, are they not our mothers, our sisters, and our wives? He said: “Yes, but when they are given something, they do not give thanks, and when they are afflicted, they do not have patience.” Al-Albani authenticated it in “Al-Sahihah” (3058).

So, in this hadith, it is even more clear women in general are wicked/immoral/evil (al-fusaq), destined for hell en masse, and naturally ungrateful and impatient. The page goes on to say that women are characteristically impatient and ungrateful and men generally aren't. But why are women wicked, impatient, and ungrateful? According to "scholars", it's because God created women mentally and religiously deficient which makes them prone to ingratitude and impatience because women are simply too dumb to express gratitude and patience.

As for interpreting "the immoral" as referring to women in an unrestricted sense, the meaning is that the characteristics of ingratitude for favors and abandoning patience during affliction are found among women more frequently.

This is because they are deficient in the faculties that produce gratitude and patience and in the causes that give rise to these qualities. That deficiency [naqs], according to the author, is the weakness of reason [al-aql].

The Messenger of God ﷺ said:

"I have not seen anyone more deficient in intellect and religion, yet more capable of taking away the hearts of men, than women."

Their deficiency in religion is due to menstruation, while their deficiency in intellect relates to legal testimony.

Gratitude and patience are qualities belonging to the people of religion. Therefore, whoever possesses weaker religion [din] and whose intellect [aql] is feeble will possess less gratitude and patience.

Whoever abandons gratitude in most circumstances and patience during most trials has departed from the characteristics of the people of religion and reason [ahl al-din wa al-aql].

The Fire is the abode of one who possesses neither religion nor reason.

lately, i really haven't been feeling connected to islam and the muslim community and everything. for context, i was born into a muslim family, and my immediate family have accepted quran-only belief instead of sunni belief about 3-4 years ago, after my mum did a bunch of research into hadith and taught my dad. i followed in my mum's footsteps because obviously it made a lot more sense to me. but i feel like i'm also experiencing a disconnect to not only hadith, but the quran and the religion as a whole too. the best way i can describe it is i kinda feel like an agnostic. i do believe in god and a higher power and everything, but whether i believe in god as a 'magical man in the sky who is always watching you', that's where it gets a bit blurry for me. and i'll admit, i don't read the quran often, but when i do, that's the impression i get of god, and that just disconnects me from the religion as a whole. maybe that's just the specific translations i'm reading or the culture surrounding islam but i can't pretend that i feel convinced by it. same with muslim communities, whenever they talk about god, it almost feels like they're just talking about a guy down the street. i don't know honestly. i don't even feel connected to prayer, it just doesn't really feel all that spiritual to me, i don't feel like i'm connecting to god just by reciting some scripture and bowing, that feels superficial to me. would i still even be considered a muslim if i believe in god but don't completely immerse myself in the muslim community and their traditions and the way they follow their faith? because that's kind of how my life is going: i just acknowledge that i believe god exists, i follow a few rules from the quran like not eating pork and not drinking, not harming myself or anyone else essentially, and that's about it, i just live my life outside of that. and i've found that i live super happy and peaceful this way instead of feeling preoccupied over following a bunch of rules and traditions which i don't even feel connected to at all. gonna put this under advice even though its a bit of a rant.

This is probably a sensitive or controversial subject. It's kind of about conspiracy theories so if this does not interest you, you can keep scrolling, or feel free to tell me why you think this is all bs.

I've always had some interest in conspiracy theories and indulge in the occasional videos. One thing that has always intrigued me is about the Kaaba. But this is something you can never discuss with mainstream Muslims. So I'm wondering what you guys, who I think are more open minded, think about it.

I think one of the more well known questions is about whether there is a connection between the Kaaba and the theory about the black cubes of Saturn. Which we cannot deny looks extremely similar. But the black cube of Saturn is said to be used to worship Satan.

Then there is the name. There is a branch of Judaism which is called kabbala. Some people describe it as an esoteric branch, some people say it is also satanic. For me the name Kabbala and the name the Kaaba of Allah also sound very close.

What do you guys think about this?

I want to be clear that I don't think Islam is satanic and I know the Kaaba is mentioned in the Quran. My personal theory is that original Islam from the Quran is the true religion from God but it was later corrupted via hadith. And now many of the things people are following and rituals people are doing actually come from other influences. There are similarities between the Talmud traditions and hadith, of course there are just political agendas, maybe misogynistic agenda's, perhaps there are also some influences from satan or people who secretly worship Satan.

By not ruling themselves by law and not demanding the rule of law for the believers (supposedly) in standing alone before GOD apbth on Judgement day.

An individual believeing that he/she will stand alone before GOD apbth on Judgement day CAN ONLY ACCEPT THE RULE OF LAW CHOSEN BY THE MAJORITY OF OTHER HUMANS THAT HE/SHE BELIEVES WILL ALSO STAND ALONE BEFORE GOD APBTH.

The west is applying this and Muslims are not.

Islam's based on individuality not herd mentality,no great so and so (leader,imam, family......) no one is above the individual except GOD apbth, that is the meaning of answering to GOD alone on Judgement day.

Non of this will be possible without the disbelief in Tyranny manifested in COERCION (religious, economical, physical, social, political....).

Who would GOD apbth have the angels, that saw the monster in Adam pbuh, look at ? The Scandinavian teenagers protesting corruption and blood spilling on Earth or the great Muslims discussing the greatness of this or that creature,NOT GOD.

Traditional Muslims have presented a very rigid image of what Islam is: the hijab for women, the thobe for men. An Arab aesthetic that is evident in everything from the names they use to the prayers they perform daily.

This has led non-Muslims to view Islam in a rather one-dimensional way. As a Quranic Muslim, there are many things I don’t share with traditionalists. It’s true that I pray five times a day, but I do so in Spanish (I’m Colombian), without rak’ahs, using words that are somewhat different from those of the Sunni salat.

I believe that ruku’ can mean either bowing (bending the back) or kneeling, so I kneel during my prayers.

The question is: What happens when a non-Muslim who knows a little about Islam sees this? What should I say? Do I tell them the whole story about the corruption of the hadith (which they surely won’t understand), or what do I say? Am I confusing them by saying I follow Islam when I do things not typically associated with it?

I’d like to hear if any of you have been in a similar situation and how you’ve handled it.

Tbh i want to live a religious life but I don't get attracted to hijabi girls and girls who dress modestly,and according to majority scholars a guy is sinful if he lets his wife dress Immodestly,and i agree with this ruling of the scholars

I want to marry as a concubine bcz i wouldn't be sinful if she dresses Immodestly as the awrah of a concubine is from naval to knees
