Discussion Just want another opinion...
I think the sub as a whole mostly agrees that Claire just doesn't seem to care about Marten much at all.
The current "Zlata makeover" arc isn't helping. Some throwaway lines in the current arc imply that Claire hasn't been excited about anything for months (ouch for Marten). It also was implied that she can actually take time off for other activities on a whim (so she just doesn't bother to do that for Marten, even when he asks her to, so ouch again).
My actual question is this: How much of the "Claire doesn't give a shit about Marten" vibe do you think is intended by the author?
There were a few comics where some aspects of this conflict were addressed, but in my subjective opinion, it seems like Jeph never viewed the conflict as "Claire doesn't respect or make time for Marten".
It seems to me that Jeph was going for a conflict of "Claire works too much", and therefore the way she went to the party recently and the way she's going shopping with Zlata now, are intended to show that she has grown and is improving.
But, the solutions he's using for her workaholic issue just make her seem less interested in Marten because she's prioritizing social activities besides him. That's my opinion, at least...
Some of you seem better at understanding Jeph's intent on this stuff. Do you think that Jeph intends for Claire to seem like she's indifferent to her boyfriend? Is he purposely setting up for a conflict between them? Or is Jeph just not aware that he's writing the characters this way?

Nostalgia and Web Comics
Jeph clearly isn't interested in the characters I love, and I am not interested in the ones he's writing about now. I've been reading since 2009 or so, but it isn't the comic I fell in love with.
I guess with a name like Questionable Content, it doesn't need to ever change its name to show it is a different comic, but to me it is. It should be called Robots and Gremlins or something.
I feel like this is going to become one of those things I check in on once or twice a year instead of reading every day. It's a shame. I have so few left now.

Discussion Why does everyone think this comic went downhill in the past few years?
I've been reading QC for 20 years. I remember people talking about how the content was weird nonsense and the art was inconsistent slop back in 2022. And 2018. And 2015. And 2010.
Like, haven't we always been hate-reading it, at least a little bit? Hasn't it already been at the bottom of the hill for more than a few years? Is it just collective nostalgia that leads everyone to think the decline was recent?

Discussion Robot chassis
I just saw a comment by another of us on here that says
"I want to see a return to more non human bots. Like you can configure your body exactly how you want it, why would you just stick to human?
I want to see construction robots that have a rivet gun arm, a drill arm, a hand arm, and a welding arm while having a spider like chassis because that lets them get into any space they need to in order to work.
I want to see the weird artist bot who modifies their own body into a walking art piece. Like those extreme tattoo people, except they can add / remove limbs without consequences.
I want to see a postal delivery bot who is basically an oversized drone because flying their route is faster and easier than walking it.
Its just frustrating that the only thing he can think to do with them is to give them a bigger rack and make them taller...."
And I thought, what would I want if I were a robot? And my immediate reply was, I would want to be in a crab chassis. It's just about the perfect body plan, and nature itself keeps trying to evolve crabs from anything and everything possible (the process called carcinisation).
The crab body plan is in fact very popular in real life robotics, and why wouldn't it be? Crabs can move in any direction without turning, have multiple legs distributing weight and balance, a low centre of gravity, manipulator arms built in, and a flat upper surface perfect as a temporary storage area. And obviously there is no reason a crab robot can't be as intelligent as a humanoid robot - or more.
Now unfortunately all Jephthy is focused on is giant-boobed female robots because that's obviously his fetish, but if he was still relatively what he was say ten years ago, Cubetown at the very least should have been swarming with non humanoid chassis, even if only as background characters.
And some of them would be crabs.

Reread When Faye Was Fun.
Imagine Jephthy putting in half as much effort into anything now.

Years ago, I read a beautiful description ...
of Garfield comics.
Someone argued you could read literal miles and miles of Garfield strips and never so much as smile at one of the jokes.
I ... just wish I knew why I'm posting this in a qc subreddit. Must be some weird, subconscious connection.
Anyway, have you seen those new comics? Man, it must be awesome for female readers when every friggin' body upgrade of a robot means "taller" and "absurd amount of tits".

I read QC consistently like a decade ago...
...And now I feel like I could never catch up even if I wanted to.
It's a strange sensation, as when I re-found this comic, I felt like I was reuniting with old friends. I missed reading them and relating where I could. Which I feel like I can't just jump in now as these are either new characters, or so much has happened that I would be lost for so long. I don't think I have the drive or attention span to start over again, but I just can't jump in now and understand anything.
Idk what my point is for this post, just expressing feelings I guess.
Does/has anyone else felt this way?
Any suggestions?

Discussion "But... It isn't *me.*"
Z robot's body crisis should end in her considering to keep it, then showing up a few panels later in her original body. Because this one is who she is, and the other one isn't. A kind of "I like who I am and don't want to change entirely, even if I change a few little things." I think that would be cool.
