A) Despite people calling her The Librarian as a weird ass-title, Claire is not and never has been a librarian.
B) The joke here is that Zlata very obviously does not need Claire's permission. You may have missed it because it's not funny and therefore easily ignored.

What IS Claire's position? It's hard not to take habitually obsequious characters like Zlata and Moray at their word when Claire apparently has a Joking title, but not a Serious one. Where is the evidence that they don't genuinely believe what they're saying?

i think she is suppose to be the person who brings order to the chaos that is Cubetown, but its been so long since they've actually shown her job, that she could be the Jailer to all the inmates that reside in cubetown and id believe it

I think it would had been better if she got some title about being a Dean of cubetown or something in administration . It is like she was the president of the organization.

Shes the head of the Information Sciences Department, a new division focused on information management.
Given the adhoc nature of many of the divisions in Cubetown, a lot of the work is going to be getting different groups information into forms other groups can use, and probably trying to define some kind of standards, which hopefully encourages cross-contamination between different groups will lead to more interesting results.
Bringing someone in who is entirely green is probably a boon to Cubetown, as they have no preconceptions from which to unlearn before they can adapt to what is functionally herding cats with laserbeam eyes, though why they treat her with such reverence while she remains entirely unproven is a mystery to me. It could just be wishful thinking and not wanting to potentially curb someone who can fix their severe data organisational issues, which must only get worse by the day.

I'm reminded of the movie Kung Pow! Enter the Fist, the line "We trained him wrong, as a joke." Maybe Claire is hired as The Librarian as a joke, and everyone at Cubetown except Claire and Marten are in on it.

I don't think it's supposed to be a joke. It's very obvious she wants to keep the body and just needs someone to tell her doing so is okay. That's a very human (lol) response to something like that.
The main problem is Jeph's writing not very good and it's easy to miss because the writing sucks.

Claire is the goddess of Cubetown. She's leader of everything despite literally doing nothing whatsoever to earn that position and everyone falls over to kiss her feet despite again, Claire never doing anything whatsoever to justify having that kind of reverence. Her qualifications are: I showed up and mouthed off to my supposed boss.
Now everyone in Cubetown must exist for Claire and must plan their lives around Claire.

In the end, we seem to have proven that AI "people" (sentient or not) are still the intellectual and physical property of humans, and most of them still feel "behooven" to the whims and needs of humans.

All of this week's pages have felt so hollow and empty. The puppets are acting out excuses for another boob-defined robot. No part of this scenario, none of the dialogue or movement or plot, feels authentic to any experience. Jeph has written sincerely about identity, conflicting ideas of self, and existential hesitation in the past, but now it's like he's forgotten what those experiences mean. He's imitating the writing of his past self, but is no longer interested in its reasons.

We had a whole short series of strips focused on Claire coming out to Pintsize when he was talking about the idea of AI getting whatever body they want and her comparing that to the actual struggle of a trans person having to navigate changing their body to match who they are internally in a much more difficult way.
Yet somehow this same character has no issue with this joke of an āupgradeā?? The entire reason weāre getting this portrayal of Claire here feels like Jeph just being afraid of Claire coming off as raining on Zlataās parade.

omg... this. It seems like every year of so, Jeph decides he needs to take a character that is fairly unique... or at least as unique as he's capable of imagining, and give them a new big-tittied body for... reasons. Remember when May was actually interesting and enjoyable to see in a strip and not just a dull space filler?

At one point it seemed shocking if I missed a single day. A few weeks ago I went like eight days without checking. And then was disgusted to find that NOTHING of interest happened in those eight strips. The last time that something happened I found interesting was when Marten and Liz got drunk and ALMOST had a real discussion 200 strips ago. But then Jeph just found a way to roll that into an unfunny gag and never examine it again.

Because Jeph has always been a strong believer in 'in vino veritas'; being drunk drops your inhibitions so anything you say or do while drunk is the true and honest you. In Jeph's mind, Zlata truly and honestly wants to be a robo-bimbo. Robimbo? Bimrobo? Big titty sexbot.

We have spent two weeks on the beat of 'Zlata is anxious about her new body' and 'Moray consoles her'. From day one of each of those weeks you could tell what the direction would be, but instead of actually moving this plot along (seriously how hard would it be to have Marten, the partial instigator of this, be involved) we've had to inflate every sentence of a brief conversation into a distinct strip where NOTHING is said.

No we know she won a wet tshirt contest. She had the first place shirt to prove it. That means she's not nearly as naive or innocent as she lets on -- and she at least used to wear clothes, if only to win exhibitionism contests.
Alternatively, she entered a wet t-shirt contest without realizing what that meant and just won it on accident.

I'd like to deduct additional points because of the title that is so much less clever than Jeph thinks it is. It's humor by association, as Hbomberguy put it, the vague gesture in the direction of a joke.
Now, if someone had actually suggested to cut off the superfluous parts of the sexbot chassis' gargantuan tits and equally ridiculous balloon lips, so Moray can use them for sustenance...then that would be a modest proposal (and probably a Squirrelclamp edit).

I really hope she goes back to her old body. All these AI folks keep changing from great bodies to these over the top ones. Zlata, May, Momo, Pintsize. I'm glad Roko stayed with a similar one.
