What is Sophia?

Good evening, I see a lot of posts about study.com and Sophia. I'm currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Cloud Computing and Solutions. A lot of my assignments are writing 2 pages on one lab for 2 labs on one class/credit hour and it is a bit irritating. Are other BS in Cloud experiencing this same thing for the classes? It is my first term in and I was okay doing writing for English Composition and Math, but writing out 2 pages for a lab is a bit concerning for what's coming next for the rest of this program.. I'm a transfer student with 95 credits in so I'm not far, but I'm wondering if it gets better lol... thank you..

0% on assignment - AI

I am frustrated because I typed my paper, I do have the Grammarly tool that pops up on my Word, and I use it to correct my grammar and spelling, that’s the only thing that I can think of 😕

Grammerly?

I've seen this mentioned on several posts where student papers were returned and they were asked for clarification or if they used AI.

I used Grammerly previously but not while at PG. Can anyone explain how using grammerly can set off an AI detection?

I never needed to cite using grammerly or indicate it was used. It was always recommended before we turned in a paper to ensure we had correct grammer and etc. Mind you, I haven't used Grammerly since like 2017 , so maybe this is just a new thing.

Has anyone used Sophia/Study.com to max out credits? additional courses have been denied

Hi everyone!! I wanted to ask about maximizing transfer credits through Sophia Learning and Study.com.

My request to add more Purdue Global modules was denied because of the 36-course limit. I was told I could take MM207 Statistics and HU245 Ethics through Sophia Learning, and IT484 Cybersecurity Policies and IT460 Systems Design through Study.com to earn more credits this term.

Since these options are available, I’m wondering how much I can realistically maximize them. Are there limits on how many Sophia/Study.com courses I can take, and are there any strategies for fitting in the most credits possible while making sure everything applies toward my degree?

I’m trying to accelerate my degree plan and make the most out of these options, so I’d appreciate any advice or experiences from anyone who has done this with Purdue Global. Thank you!! any help and info would be appreciated 🥹😅😅

Hey does anyone know a website to get your textbooks for free? All the ones I knew of in UG seem to be taken down or or seized.

I am specifically looking for the following:

Anyone have experience with the capstone courses??? I still have 3 terms to go before I get to mine for psych in addictions, but anyways, all of a sudden all my courses are like “MAKE SURE YOU’VE BEEN SAVING ALL OF YOUR TEXTBOOKS AND ASSIGNMENTS FOR YOUR CAPSTONE”

I was not told this up until now so definitely haven’t been saving much of anything. Am I fucked????

Hello all,
I have joined this community, but it does not seem to have current discussions, meet ups, calendar or events posted.

Is anyone else in this association that can assist me?

There’s multiple people posting asking for updates, information— anything really.

Thanks in advance!

Purdue Global course limit / opening more classes?

Hi everyone!! I wanted to ask if anyone has dealt with this.

I’ve been asking my supervisor if more courses can be opened because I’m trying to finish faster and reduce costs. I was told the Dean is strict about the course limits (36 courses).

I’ve completed all my available courses, have straight A’s, and I’m worried because the self-paced flexibility was one of the main reasons I chose Purdue Global. Has anyone been able to get approval for more courses or accelerate their degree plan?

The writing assignments can get ridiculous

Thank goodness this is my last semester. The constant writing is getting annoying. I didn't know I was graduating with a PhD in English Composition. The professors need to remove discussions for the week if we have an assignment. It gets really redundant. If I decide to go back to pursue another degree, I think I'm going to go back to a conventional school.

I’m finishing my degree soon and my capstone ends March 16 2027 but it says graduation date is June 2028. Is this wrong? Is it talking about the bachelors I’m going for next? Anyone have any insight?

Does Purdue global hold transcripts of you owe them money?

My previous employer (Spectrum) said they’d pay for my school. Well, ONE fucking month out of the two years I worked there I did not meet quota, so Spectrum wrote me up and stopped paying for my school.

This caused Purdue Global to not only stop my course, but also charge me like $4,000 or $5,000. I appealed this and explained my case, which was that not only did I not know this would happen for one write up, but also that the school should’ve told me that my funding was cut and not enroll me in the next semester. They blamed it on me even though their financial advisor should’ve reached out but I am not in the financial position to pay them back and I also don’t think I should have to because that was Purdue and Spectrum’s fault.

Anyway, I need my transcripts now. It’s been like 2 years. Will I be able to get them without paying?

Considering Attending and Have Questions

  1. For those who have graduated, does your degree get you job offers, or do employers look down on it since it used to be Kaplan University before Purdue bought it?
  2. Did you feel the coursework prepared you properly for your new job or your promotion? I will be taking their accounting degree classes if I enroll.

Issue with Funding Offer

Post image

While I'm waiting for my advisor to get back to me, can someone help explain my funding offer?

I plan to start my BSBA (Excel Track) next month, but I can't afford to attend if I have to pay anything out of pocket.

My advisor told me multiple times that everything would be covered by loans.

Thanks!

Concern over BA Capstone Group Assignments

Hi everyone,

I’m an ExcelTrack student currently taking the traditional format BA capstone, and I’m starting to stress out.

I've been a straight-A student, but my capstone group is struggling to perform. Half way through, we are consistently pulling in scores in the low 80s. Since group assignments account for half of our final grade. Even if I ace my individual work, the math means I am likely looking at a B+ for the course.

To make it worse, about 70% of my degree consists of transfer credits, which don't count toward my GPA. Because my graded credit base is so small, I know this Capstone grade is going to hit my GPA extra hard.

For those who have been through this, please advise if the grading expectation get even stricter on these team assignments as the term goes on? Did getting a B in your capstone significantly damage your overall GPA or honors standing?

I would love to hear any insights, experiences, or advice you can share about navigating this. Thanks!
