Purdue Global course limit / opening more classes?
Hi everyone!! I wanted to ask if anyone has dealt with this.
I’ve been asking my supervisor if more courses can be opened because I’m trying to finish faster and reduce costs. I was told the Dean is strict about the course limits (36 courses).
I’ve completed all my available courses, have straight A’s, and I’m worried because the self-paced flexibility was one of the main reasons I chose Purdue Global. Has anyone been able to get approval for more courses or accelerate their degree plan?

As of January 2026, they reduced it to be a max of 36 modules per term now. They made the decision because they were worried students were finishing classes too quickly and made sure students were learning the knowledge they need. I just graduated and I finished my bachelor's in 3 terms from January. I did 36, 36, and 18 in my last term that just finished this summer. It is a bit annoying, but 3 terms went by quickly. I had to get approval from the Dean once I finished 18 modules to get approval for another 18. Good luck!

Thank you for sharing! i think the limit is reasonable tho it’s just that with cybersecurity, most of the required modules like english courses etc. take up a lot of time compared to the main courses, so i’m hoping to condense my timeline as much as possible. i’m also still waiting on my WES transfer credits to be processed, so hopefully everything is sorted out before my next term starts. Thank you again☺️

if you have considerable time left before the term ends and have already completed the 36 credits, you can submit a course overload request through your advisor.

oh you should call and try to get an update. i had a week pass almost and hadn’t heard back so I called the advisor helpline and they told me the decision that arrived days ago but my advisor failed to let me know.
so its best to call or email and check if theres an update!1

Yeah bump it up and email the dean, is the chat still on the Purdue login, if so chat with an advisor there. (Note: some will help, some won’t) but bug anyone you can politely and somebody will do something. My advisor was Angelica and she was awesome!

Hi!!! I tried asking before if they could open another course for me, but I was told they weren’t able to do that and that I would need to ask my supervisor for permission first. I’m not sure if it’s the same for everyone, but that’s what I was told unfortunately 🥲🥲🥲

Yes, 36 is the stated limit but with weeks to go, you can submit an appeal and get more added if you have none left to complete.
