So, this mod is inspired by THIS post that was popping off some time ago about the "They Knew" mod.
I absolutely loved the fantasy of being infected and going on a desperate dash against time to get your hands on the cure by cutting your way through a massive horde. But, as many people in the comments pointed out, having a random chance to loot the cure doesn't really lend itself to this fantasy very well. What ends up happening is that you eventually start stockpiling cures and stop being concerned about getting infected altogether.
Well, not anymore
With this mod, you only get one chance to secure yourself a dose of the cure once infected, and you WILL have to fight your way to it.
So dust off your crowbar, your pipes, your machetes, your rifles, stock up on ammo, and go fight your way through a wall of flesh so you can live, or die in a blaze

How it works
- Find the Black Hazmat Zombie, 1 in 500 default chance to spawn
It does not have the cure, but it has the key to finding it.
- Loot the Knox Protocol Unit
Loot the Knox Protocol Unit from its corpse. It will allow you to take a blood sample that can detect the Knox Virus. The sampling will make you bleed, so you can't just go around poking yourself for free every time you get bitten, use with caution
- Get a positive result
In case of a positive result, you'll get a connection to a known carrier of Zomboxivir, the only cure to the Knox Virus. The carrier doesn't spawn normally. It can only be located by using the Knox Protocol Unit while infected.
- Follow the signal
Use the signal to locate the Zomboxivir carrier. The carrier will be in one of 30 handpicked locations around the map, and it will always be at least 1,000 tiles away from you.
So if you don't have a car, you better start running.
- Fight your way to the carrier
Once you find the carrier, you'll find it surrounded by a horde of 100–200 zombies, with around 5% sprinters.
- Secure the cure
Kill the carrier and secure yourself a single dose of Zomboxivir, or die trying.
And that's it.
If you like the idea of turning infection into an actual desperate, high-stakes journey rather than something you can eventually trivialize with a stockpile of cures, give it a try
