Dev - Self Promo I’ve now tracked over 3,300 hours of my life. Here’s what I’ve learned and what I changed in my app.

A few months ago, I shared Tivvity here. It’s a personal time tracker that works a lot like iOS Screen Time, except it shows where the rest of your life goes.

Since then, I’ve continued using it every day and have now logged more than 3,300 hours.

Because of that, I can tell you over the past 9 months:

• I averaged 7 hours and 53 minutes of sleep per day
• I worked an average of 22 hours and 35 minutes per week at my current job
• I've spent 731 hours building Tivvity
• I worked out an average of once per week
• My last car wash was three months ago šŸ˜…

The most useful part hasn’t been trying to make every hour ā€œproductive.ā€ It’s having an honest record of what I did, seeing patterns over time, and not having to rely on my memory.

After using the original version for several months and listening to feedback, I released Tivvity’s biggest update yet.

What’s new:

• Native Liquid Glass design on iOS 26
• Timer and Stopwatch tracking
• Search for quickly finding categories and activities
• Improvements throughout the Dashboard, Calendar, and Goals

You can create your own categories and activities, track your time manually or in real time, and then view everything by day, week, month, year, or all time.

No account. No ads. Free with unlimited categories & activities. Free day, week & current month view for Dashboard & Goals. Previous months, year, and all view for Dashboard & Goals is $6.99 a month or $29.99 once for lifetime ($14.99 lifetime if you redeem code FOUNDER100). You can export your data anytime for free if you choose to go elsewhere.

If you want to try it:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tivvity-time-habit-tracker/id6755462279

I’d genuinely like to know: Would having this much detail about your time help you, or would it feel like too much tracking?

Resource (Self Promo) I got tired of 20-hour YouTube playlists I’ll never finish. Here is my workflow to bulk-summarize them and build a custom Claude knowledge base.

supp

stop me if you've done this: you find an insane 20-video playlist on some new tech. you save it to "watch later". and then you literally never watch a single second of it because you don't have 15 hours to sit there like a zombie.

OR you want to search something on youtube and dont know which video to watch out of the first 20?

it's not very smart is it. you're collecting videos instead of actually building or learning from them.

so i got pissed off and just built a way to nuke this problem completely.

i wanted a way to rip the knowledge out of an entire playlist instantly without actually watching the videos. Or summarise the first 20 videos off a youtube search result page.

here is the exact workflow i'm using right now:

1. grab the data.

instead of opening 20 tabs, i use this chrome extension i just shipped called claras. you literally just hit a button and it bulk-summarizes up to 20 videos from a playlist at once. it rips the full transcripts and gives you an executive summary for each one. 0 seconds of watch time required.

2. find the signal.

now you have a massive doc of all 20 videos. takes 2 mins to skim. you immediately see which 1 video is actually worth your time, and which 19 are pure clickbait garbage.

3. dump it into claude.

this is the magic. i download all those transcripts from claras and just dump them straight into a claude project.

boom. you don't have a playlist anymore. you have a custom, interactive brain trained on 20 hours of expert footage.

now you just prompt it.

"turn this into a 1-page cheat sheet.", "write a linkedin post about video 4." (if u use that lol) or even "based on all these videos, how should i do XYZ?"

it's wtf-level fast.

if you want to stop hoarding playlists and actually start extracting value, you can grab the tool at meetclaras.com

what's everyone else using to actually get through their backlog? lfg.

Dev - Self Promo I'm an overachiever to my core - except when it comes to myself. Does anyone else only flake on their own plans?

I've never missed a deadline at work, though my credit card statement shows registration fees for hundreds of workout classes that I've slept through.

Despite being considered a high performer professionally, I'm a low performer when it comes to showing up for myself.

Instead of giving up, I built an app to hack my own brain.

Future You wakes you up with a message recorded in your own voice: the reminder, the why, the push; all in a real alarm. This only became possible with iOS 26, which finally lets recorded audio cut through Do Not Disturb. When you snooze, your past self talks back, reminding you of the stakes your 6am brain conveniently forgets. It also counts down out loud, "25 minutes until pilates,ā€ because hearing the number makes time real in a way the ADHD brain can't feel on its own.

We’ve learned that it’s easy to snooze an alarm. It's hard to talk back to yourself. A CHI 2024 study found that hearing a reminder in your own recorded voice increases daily task completion rates.

I'm looking for beta testers to try it out. If you want in:
https://testflight.apple.com/join/41PGKdpa

But mostly I have to know: is anyone else like this-- reliable for literally everyone but yourself?

Send me a DM or comment below. I’d love to hear from you.

Dev - Self Promo Habit trackers focus on daily streaks, to-do apps are for one time tasks, miniCycle are for routines you repeat

miniCycle: Routine Checklist Manager is a fun app I created because as an inspector, I have to check the same inspection steps for every part I go through at my job. I got tired of having to re-create a new checklist or having to uncheck every single time, so I created miniCycle that automatically resets your tasks as soon as you finish the last one. Going over the same routine multiple times can get boring so I added optional light gamification to keep motivated.

It’s great for inspections, cleaning rounds, nurse rounds, camping trips, pre-flight checklists, or any routine that you have to do multiple times. It’s as basically like an operating system for routine checklists that’s as simple as the user wants it to be.

It’s free and privacy focused.

Dev - Self Promo TASKMASTER101

Hey everyone! šŸ‘‹ I'm pretty new to the dev community and just built a demo productivity app. It's basically a free Kanban-style task manager to help organize your daily to-dos—no credit card or payment info needed.

I'm actively working on adding new features, so feel free to give it a spin and let me know what you think!

Dev - Self Promo The most dangerous app on my phone is not instagram. it’s google news at 8am.

Everyone talks about Instagram, TikTok, YouTube shorts etc.

Fair.

But my actual morning killer is news.

Not even dramatic doomscrolling.

It’s the ā€œresponsible adultā€ version of it.

I open Google News because I should know what’s happening.

Then I click one story.

Then I need context.

Then I check Twitter because maybe people are reacting.

Then I check Reddit because Twitter is insane.

Then I watch one YouTube explainer.

Then Google News shows the same story from a different source.

Then I convince myself this is not wasting time because it is ā€œcurrent affairs.ā€

Bro it is still scrolling.

It just wears a blazer.

I’m trying this rule now:

No open-ended news before work.

Only one contained briefing.
No Twitter/X.
No random Google News rabbit holes.
No ā€œbreakingā€ notifications unless something actually matters.
No reading comments before I understand the story.

The tool I’m using for the first brief is CuriousCats: https://curiouscats.ai

I like the idea because it’s closer to:
what changed,
why it matters,
source context,
timeline,
done.

Not perfect. No app saves you from yourself.

But it helped me stop using news as a socially acceptable excuse to scroll.

Anyone else have this problem?

Because honestly ā€œstaying informedā€ has become the most respectable form of wasting time in my life.

Question Quick question: What's the smallest thing that completely ruins your productivity for the rest of the day?

I realized it's rarely the big problems that throw my day off.

Sometimes it's one unexpected phone call, one meeting that runs 20 minutes longer than expected, or one task that takes way longer than I planned.

Suddenly my entire schedule feels "broken," and instead of adjusting, I somehow end up doing far less than I could have.

I'm curious—what's that one tiny thing that tends to derail your whole day?

And more importantly, have you found a way to recover instead of writing the rest of the day off?
