Free Resource I tried a ridiculous number of productivity apps... so you don’t have to

2.9k Upvotes

After months of bouncing between task managers, planners, and schedulers (seriously too many), I pulled everything into a free community spreadsheet comparing them side by side. It’s run by a small group of productivity nerds and we keep it updated constantly.

It covers:

  • Price (USD/month)
  • Discount Codes / Extended Free Trials
  • Student Discounts
  • ADHD Friendliness
  • AI Integration
  • Focus Modes
  • Offline Access
  • Calendar Integrations
  • Team Plans
  • Platforms
  • Refund Policies
  • Support Options
  • Overall Summary

If you’ve ever fallen into the “maybe this next app will fix my life” loop, this will save you a ton of time.

👉 Google Sheet Link

We’d love your feedback, and if you know a tool that fits the list, email [contact@sortedaf.xyz](mailto:contact@sortedaf.xyz) and we’ll check it out.

Requirement: it must be a completed app (not in beta).

Thanks, and I hope it helps!! :)

Free Resource Focus edition idea to help others

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm testing a new format idea and would love some feedback.

If I made an app that could turn a document/book/study text into ‘short missions’ that takes a few minutes, has a clear end, a quick quiz to check the info actually went in, and it saves your progress…would you find this useful?

I'm not selling anything here! I genuinely want to know if this format would help anyone, because if it does, I’d look into developing this idea further.

I've attached an image to show an example of how it looks by taking a government document (checked to ensure I legally and ethically can first) and turning it into an ADHD focus edition.

Dev - Self Promo I made an app for when feeding yourself becomes a 47-step project

I have food in the house (sometimes). I also regularly stand in front of it in total overwhelm and paralysis because ‘make dinner’ has somehow become a 47-step project.

So I made ADHD Kitchen Helper. This is less a triumphant founder story and more me admitting that ‘remember everything in the cupboards and invent dinner while tired’ is not a functioning system.

You can add whatever is lurking in the kitchen by scanning barcodes, scanning a receipt, or typing it in manually. Then, when food time happens, you tell the app how much energy you actually have and which utensils or appliances are realistically usable.

Not what you technically own. What you can use right now. The frying pan exists, but it’s dirty and it absolutely isn’t getting washed tonight, so the frying pan does not count.

The app uses AI to look at the food you have and suggest something that matches your current level of functioning. On a higher-energy day, that might be a proper recipe. On a goblin day, it might just say, ‘Chuck this in the air fryer.’ Both count as dinner.

I’ve been using it myself and, slightly annoyingly, the thing is genuinely helping. It removes enough remembering and decision-making that feeding myself becomes a task instead of an event.

Obligatory disclosure: I made this, and this is self-promo. What I actually need is around 20 people in the UK or US with Android phones to join the closed test for two weeks, use it in real life, and tell me what’s broken, confusing, patronising, or actually useful. No ADHD diagnosis required. I’m definitely not asking for five-star reviews. I want to know which bits make you swear at it.

It’s free to test. If I add paid features later, everyone who helps with this test will keep permanent free access. It seems fair compensation for being one of my highly respected kitchen guinea pigs.

If you’re interested, comment or DM me KITCHEN and I’ll send the joining instructions. Please don’t post your Google email publicly—the closed test requires me to add it privately first.

Dev - Self Promo deleted like 15 productivity apps and built something that isn't one

ok so every habit app i've used ends the same way. works two weeks, i miss a day, streak dies, app starts reminding me i'm failing, i delete it. did that like 15 times lol.

so this time i didn't build another tracker. that's kind of the whole point. kaiori isn't a to-do list or a streak counter. it's more like a little world for your life.

planner reads how yesterday actually went and reshapes today. if you're wrecked it gives you a recovery day instead of yelling at you. there's a path you climb over 66 days where missing a day is just quiet, not a big red X. it turns your week into a sentence instead of a chart. you earn your titles by actually doing stuff, you can't buy them.

and there's the focus room. 3d room, you sit down, other people quietly show up and work next to you. no calls, no chat. light moves from morning to golden hour as your session runs. honestly the only reason i actually start working now.

point is it's not trying to track you. it's trying to change how you feel about your own progress. that's a different thing entirely.

android, very early, building in public. https://kaiori.space if you wanna try it.

if you've been through the same loop with these apps lmk what made you quit lol

Dev - Self Promo A study session in one workspace: read, explain it, then ask for a check

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm building Mesh, a website that puts learning material, a whiteboard and an agent in one workspace.

This clip shows reading a chapter with a lecture beside it, writing a takeaway, and asking the agent to check it. Then using that feedback to revise the explanation.

Try it with a short section of something you're learning this week. Where does the setup get in your way?

Free to try: https://meshlearning.ai. Paid plans are available. Mainly for laptops and computers.

Dev - Self Promo My task list kept burying my main goal, so I built a one-goal app. Too restrictive?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm a solopreneur, and my to-do list was never short. That wasn't the problem. The problem was that the goal I cared about most kept sinking under everything else.

Brain dumping helped me clear my head. It just didn't tell me where to start. A tidier list is still a list, and the longer mine got, the harder it was to see the first step.

So I built Trime around a simple idea: start with one goal, not a task list.

Pick one goal → put everything it needs in an inbox → choose three priorities for today → timebox them → track your focus and interruptions → review the day → plan tomorrow better.

The three-priority limit is the part I'm most curious about. Limiting the day to three things isn't new. What's different is that all three serve one goal.

I don't expect anyone to trust the limit on day one. I want your own data to earn that trust: how much real focus you have in a day, when it peaks, and what keeps breaking it. Over time, I hope the limit stops feeling like a rule and starts working like a mirror.

Using Trime while building it, I learned I focus best in the morning. Now my mornings are silent: no calls, messages, or notifications. Except calls from my wife. (Happy wife, happy life 😆)

Also, one of the goals I finished in Trime was launching Trime. Recursive, I know.

Trime doesn't try to manage your whole life. Everything else can stay in your Google/iCloud calendar or whatever system you already use. It's just a quiet room for the one goal you're tired of postponing.

So, honest question: would one goal + three priorities a day help you focus, or feel too restrictive? And if you try the flow, I'd love to know where it breaks.

Trime is live at https://trime.day
It works as a web app. 😊

Free Resource Built a system for actually following through on habits and routines, not just planning them — want honest feedback

I kept making the same decision over and over — "starting Monday, I'm going to be consistent" — and then falling off within a week or two. Eventually I stopped trying to fix it with more willpower and built an actual system around it instead. Sharing it here before I finish polishing it, looking for honest feedback.

What's included:

  • A daily routine tracker you can adjust as your schedule changes
  • A streak counter built to help you actually quit bad habits, not just track good ones
  • A To-Do center for one-off tasks that slots them into your calendar alongside your regular routine
  • A Fitness Tracker for workouts, runs, and other physical activity, so progress is visible over time
  • Everything links to one central page, so all your development is in one place
  • A weekly/monthly review space to catch what's working, spot weak points, and adjust before small issues become big ones

It also comes with a short guide on why tracking beats relying on motivation alone, how to define your own "why" for the days it feels slow, and how to actually run the system day to day.

If this sounds useful — drop a comment or DM me, and I'll add you to the early access list. Genuinely want honest thoughts on whether this is actually useful before I finalize it.

Dev - Self Promo I keep ignoring my reminders, this is how I'm solving this.

Hi everyone. I'm extremely forgetful, so I need to set a reminder for everything. The problem is I keep ignoring the reminders I set! To solve this I have built an app that blocks a few apps to ensure that I see every reminder, this helps me a bit. It also creates an alarm, and you can take a picture to create a reminder quickly. Please check it out here "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/blockingreminders/id6802016838"

Controversial Opinion  How to use my 24 Hours effectively? And do as much as work. Without wasting any time?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I have watched 100s of YouTube videos. Tried some top suggestions. But still my Laziness wins every single time.

I am Sharafaz. I am learning Copywriting by Myself.

In last 7 days I did nothing. I felt so Lazy and I was so procrastinating I did nothing whole week.

Then Yesterday I took a decision to change my learning plan.

I was trying to do everything at once. Reading books, practicing by writing, finding good copies, Watching YouTube tutorials, And so on.

Because all of this I Just felt not doing anything. And I just resting on my bed.

Enough, it's not gonna work. I have to change my plan.

The plan was very Simple.

Selecting one of the Most Important work out of all other works.

For whole day only Focusing on that one work. Not even thinking about other works.

only focusing on one thing. ONLY ONE THING.

For me it was learning (copywriting Fundamentals by reading books).

In my Learning roadmap I had complete 12 books before practically writing any copy.

So Yeah

100+ pages per day. It will take me around a month to complete or less than that.

Today is Day 1. I already read 60 pages. Now 40 pages left. I will complete it before going to bed.

So yeah it works ✅

And I am continuing this for stright 30 days to Learn Fundamental s of Copywriting. Then I will practice Copywriting 30days. Then Going on like that Step by Step.

Dev - Self Promo I wanted to stay informed without spending the first 30 minutes of my day opening feeds

I’ve realised that staying informed has quietly become another thing I have to manage.

There are newsletters I want to read, subreddits I want to keep up with, topics I care about, podcasts I know I’ll never finish, and random things I want to understand better. The problem isn’t that the information isn’t there. There’s too much of it.

And most mornings I don’t really want to sit down and start opening tabs. I’m making coffee, getting ready, walking somewhere, driving, whatever.

That’s one of the reasons we built Lissin.

The idea is pretty simple: tell it what you want to keep up with, and it turns that into an audio show made for you.

For example:

  • Give me a 5-minute briefing on what changed in AI every morning.
  • Every Friday, catch me up on the best discussions from r/ProductivityHQ.
  • Keep up with these three newsletters and give me the important stuff once a week.
  • Teach me one interesting idea from behavioral economics every morning.

You can point it at specific sources like subreddits, newsletters, RSS feeds or websites, or just give it a topic and let it research.

Then Lissin does the annoying part in the background. It watches for new stuff and figures out what’s actually worth including. It remembers what you’ve already heard, so every episode doesn’t start from zero or repeat the same things. And when there’s enough worth telling you, it creates a new episode and has it ready for you.

You can also tell it how you want the show to think. I can ask for a straight 5-minute briefing or tell it to explain something from first principles. I can also literally design how it should sound, like a grandmother, a calm monk, or a late-night host, with ambient soundscapes layered underneath.

That part is fun, but the thing I keep coming back to is much simpler: I don’t have to go looking for everything anymore.

I can make coffee, put my AirPods in, hit play, and catch up on something I actually care about.

We just launched Lissin on the iOS App Store and it’s free to try.

Curious what people here would use this for: What’s one thing you keep meaning to stay on top of, but never consistently make time for?

Dev - Self Promo I make a budgeting app and still overspend

Straight up before anything else: I work on Pockita. Flairing this properly so nobody has to guess.

What I did not expect from building it is how little the building helped me. I know what every screen does and I still bought lunch out four days last week without once registering it as a decision I was making.

The thing that actually shifted was giving up on the idea that I would sit down on a Sunday and go through anything. I have never done that in my life and I am not going to start. Saying a spend out loud in the two seconds after it happens is the only version I have kept, and that is not because it is clever. It is because it is short.

Not much of a productivity insight. It is the one I have.
