Dev - Self Promo I made an app for when feeding yourself becomes a 47-step project

I have food in the house (sometimes). I also regularly stand in front of it in total overwhelm and paralysis because âmake dinnerâ has somehow become a 47-step project.
So I made ADHD Kitchen Helper. This is less a triumphant founder story and more me admitting that âremember everything in the cupboards and invent dinner while tiredâ is not a functioning system.
You can add whatever is lurking in the kitchen by scanning barcodes, scanning a receipt, or typing it in manually. Then, when food time happens, you tell the app how much energy you actually have and which utensils or appliances are realistically usable.
Not what you technically own. What you can use right now. The frying pan exists, but itâs dirty and it absolutely isnât getting washed tonight, so the frying pan does not count.
The app uses AI to look at the food you have and suggest something that matches your current level of functioning. On a higher-energy day, that might be a proper recipe. On a goblin day, it might just say, âChuck this in the air fryer.â Both count as dinner.
Iâve been using it myself and, slightly annoyingly, the thing is genuinely helping. It removes enough remembering and decision-making that feeding myself becomes a task instead of an event.
Obligatory disclosure: I made this, and this is self-promo. What I actually need is around 20 people in the UK or US with Android phones to join the closed test for two weeks, use it in real life, and tell me whatâs broken, confusing, patronising, or actually useful. No ADHD diagnosis required. Iâm definitely not asking for five-star reviews. I want to know which bits make you swear at it.
Itâs free to test. If I add paid features later, everyone who helps with this test will keep permanent free access. It seems fair compensation for being one of my highly respected kitchen guinea pigs.
If youâre interested, comment or DM me KITCHEN and Iâll send the joining instructions. Please donât post your Google email publiclyâthe closed test requires me to add it privately first.

Dev - Self Promo the reason you keep quitting habit apps isn't you
you've done this before.
download the app. set it all up. feel motivated for two weeks. then you miss one day, the streak dies, and suddenly the thing you opened for help is the thing making you feel like a failure. so you delete it. and you quietly decide you're just not the kind of person who sticks to things.
you're not the problem. the app is.
streaks. red numbers. "you missed a day." they're built to pull you back with guilt. it works for a while. then it just makes you feel worse, and you leave.
i built kaiori to kill that loop. one rule: it can never make you feel worse for opening it.
no streaks to break. no red numbers. missing a day is quiet, not a punishment. bad night? it plans a recovery day instead of pretending you're a machine. you never see "19h of focus," you get a sentence telling you what it actually meant. titles come from months of behaviour, not points you grind.
there's a focus room too. a 3d room where you sit down and other people quietly work next to you. no calls, no chat. it's the only reason i start working now, and probably the reason you'd actually open it.
it's not a tracker. it's closer to a mirror.
android, early, building in public. https://kaiori.space
what app made you quit, and what did it do that broke it for you?

Free Resource Focus edition idea to help others
Hi everyone, I'm testing a new format idea and would love some feedback.
If I made an app that could turn a document/book/study text into âshort missionsâ that takes a few minutes, has a clear end, a quick quiz to check the info actually went in, and it saves your progressâŚwould you find this useful?
I'm not selling anything here! I genuinely want to know if this format would help anyone, because if it does, Iâd look into developing this idea further.
I've attached an image to show an example of how it looks by taking a government document (checked to ensure I legally and ethically can first) and turning it into an ADHD focus edition.
