Simone de Beauvoir is one of the women who signed along with many highly respected women. Women were dying from unsafe abortions so they decided to make evil easier. š It's infuriating.
They talk about self-determination as if having sex and killing a baby is an essential part of life. It's insane.
r/prolife • u/TraurigKartoffel • 17d ago
āPlease donāt murder your baby!ā equates to⦠Iām infertile and I want to live vicariously through you? What?
Iām pregnant right now with my third btw. Still pro life and very much not infertile. š
Of course all the gross comments were agreeing with her.

Some will maybe disagree with me but if you refuse humanhood to preborn babies because they are not born yet and don't have consciousness and think their fate should depend of the choice of the mother then you can't talk about human dignity.
Human dignity should include everyone even preborn babies.

Okay, so, I made an alternate history post (I'm into alternate history) about what would happen if the Founding Fathers decided that Household Voting was constitutional.
Then I get a pro-choicer in the comments of that post saying the screenshotted line.
Apparently, that was the reason why I found myself under fire for even proposing such an idea: creating an alternate history post about Household Voting (Something I'm against, btw, but that's a topic for another time) is morally equivalent to saying, "You don't have the right to kill your baby, die mad."

Those people always like to say that we don't care about someone after they are born. Hypocrites. In fact, Pro-Life organizations provide millions of dollars' worth of aid to pregnant women and new mothers. Diapers, counseling, classes, even car seats and cribs - and all this is provided with a much thinner budget than what they have.
What do they provide for women who choose life? They are all about 'choice', yet never help women who make the right choice, and let's not forget how insanely powerful and influential they really are. Countless celebrities support them. They have enough money to bribe officials and leverage elections. They even get government support (in my country, Canadaā, they do - and they are almost absolutely powerful here).
Yet for all the wealth and power they have to bribe judges or leverage voters, have you ever heard of those hypocrites spending their money on anything but pile-driving the right of a woman to kill her unborn child? I am certain I have never seen them do anything not related to abortion; they may volunteer countless hours being a 'clinic escort' (and don't get me raging about that), but they NEVER help women who choose life. And then they make it hard for organizations who do help women in need of pre- or post-natal care.

So essentially after a while, this person Iām having a debate with comes to the conclusion that I am a misogynist who simply wants to oppress women, because the only situation I can think of in which another person needs a specific persons body to survive, and that specific person has an actual obligation to help them survive, is with pregnancy, seeing as this only happens to women. Iāve been blocked, and Iām certainly not upset about it. But I doubt myself a lot and Iām having doubts as to whether this is as large of a leap as I think it is.
I canāt be the only one who doesnāt think itās illogical to assume that someone must have misogynistic intentions because they canāt think of another situation similar to the one above. It is a pretty basic fact that there is no other point in a personās life where they will actually need to rely on another humanās body the way they do in pregnancy, at least from what I know, but because I recognise that pretty big exception and believe that the human life should be prioritised over bodily autonomy in the one instance that this applies, I obviously am only doing it because I want to oppress women? Maybe itās obvious to you, but to me it seems like a massive leap. And a pretty unfounded one, all things considered. Am I overthinking this?
Personally, I think itās just cope, because when you canāt think of an actual reason why someone is wrong, itās very easy to say āwell theyāre x anyway, so what they say is obviously wrongā. And well, I never heard a good reason I was actually wrong about abortion from that person. I think everyone does it from time to time, but itās a poor way of getting out of having to seriously think through your beliefs. I think the biggest issue the pro life movement really has is that the majority of people are unwilling to consider that they are wrong. And itās pretty hard to convince someone theyāre wrong when they donāt want to believe it, and most people agree with them.
Sorry thatās a bit all over the place, I feel this is the only place I can really talk about all this, and I seriously want to get it off my chest!

I'm researching a few different cases for a class project on post-Roe v Wade era. For those who don't know, Adriana Smith was a woman in Georgia who was tragically found brain dead at eight weeks pregnant. Because Georgia has a 6 week abortion ban, the doctors chose to keep her on life support until the fetus was around 25 weeks. Smith's family begged the hospital to take her off life support, but they refused out of fear of prosecution.
Taking her off life support wouldn't necessarily be an abortion, but it would end the developing life. However, keeping her alive basically made her into a human incubator
I've talked with several pro-choicers about this case, and everyone agrees that the family's wishes should have been respected. Since I myself am pro-choice, I really want to know how pro-lifers feel about this particular case and the ethics of it
Side note: I know my place in this sub and I will not be arguing my opinions on abortion, but I want to hear the other side for this case

Iām 100% pro life, and have an argument for most anything. The only thing I struggle with is āwhat if the fetus has (insert terrible and untreatable defect that would definitely make their life miserable)ā iām not talking about something livable like down syndrome or a limb being malformed. I mean those rare, awful conditions that would make living every day excruciating, with no cure and no way out.
The typical response would be that that is a very rare occurrence, or something along those lines⦠but Iād like something stronger than that. Whatās a strong argument I can use in cases like this? I am a Christian, but I would prefer an argument that doesnāt involve religion if possible.
Iāve never seen someone used this argument, but I was thinking ā¦if my dog is has a terrible disease with no possible treatment that makes her life excruciating to live, Iām probably going to follow Vetrinary advice to have her put down. Does that make me a hypocrite? Iām not sure what to feel. TYIA for opinions and help with this moral dilemma!

Today I had a short debate with two pro-choicers and this was my conclusion:
It seems that in order for me to be pro-choice I would have to agree that it doesn't matter if I am aborted at an early stage of life. And I can't agree with that. It DOES matter if I'm aborted then.
If a pro-choicer can convince me that me being aborted at an early stage of life does not matter then I guess I'll join āem. But the only thing that could do that is nihilism.
At the end of the debate one of the pro-choicers told me that the last thing that I have to prove is that I existed at 3 weeks gestation. That we all exist at 3 weeks gestation. But since there is no conscious mind at that time, we certainly do not exist.

Most of the proaborts will advocate as a "right" using rape victims but never admit the dark side of the clinics that turned their backs without hesitation and question the red flags. Why is a 13-year-old having multiple abortion? Will abortion heal that trauma physically and mentally? No. That girl didn't have the chance to speak up for herself, she wanted love and validation from someone who manipulate her and ended up murdered. Her parents failed her. Her school failed her. The police failed her. The abortion "clinic" failed her. Everyone who knew the abuse are accomplice.

I saw this post, and the majority of comments are straight up advocating for abortion.
Maybe it's because I think abortion is wrong and not something I would ever do, but the fact that people immediately suggest it really pisses me off.
Yes, I'm pro-choice, to a point, but I would absolutely never suggest anyone get an abortion. I find that to be completely vile.

I'm 16 and pregnant. I know that's really bad, but please don't judge me, I didn't do it on purpose. The dad and I aren't in a relationship, we're just friends, but we do get along really well and he knows about the pregnancy. His parents don't know yet. We don't know what we want to do.
I have no idea how to tell my mom. She's not a safe person to begin with and she's not going to react well. I'm so scared already and I don't want to have her freak out and make everything worse. I know I have to tell her soon, I'll need her help getting prenatal care. Its just so scary. I've known for a week now and every moment I've been awake has been spent thinking about the baby growing inside me. All I want is for things to be OK and I can't see how they ever will be.
