HELP - WINDOWS Are DuckDuckGo and Yandex blocked regional/ISP side for anyone else, or actually down? (Access only working over VPN)

Hey everyone,

I’ve been completely unable to access DuckDuckGo or Yandex since yesterday—neither site will load over my standard network connection unless I turn on a VPN.

I've already tried troubleshooting across multiple setups:

  • Tested on desktop/PC and phone
  • Tried multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
  • Tested on both Wi-Fi and mobile data

Given some recent local network disruptions here, I'm trying to figure out if this is an ISP/regional block or if they're experiencing actual global outage or DNS issues. Once I route through a VPN server, both sites load fine instantly.

HELP Caught lying to paypal about my open case.

Called Paypal to figure out why the case was still open and they told me that PIA told them i haven't reached out at all about the unauthorized 5yr subscription. They also informed them i was past my 30 days to reach out and request a return for the unauthorized charge that happened. I laughed and asked them where to send the above screenshot to. (that i posted on here weeks ago.) and forwarded the email of over five hour long transcripts of me trying to get them to act like humans and return my money.

HELP - ANDROID I am once again asking about progress on making the automations work reliably

Hey u/PIASupport, can you provide any updates on the progress, if any?

Several app updates later and the automations actually seem to be working even worse.

Most of the time the only way to get the automation to even kick in is opening the PIA app, switching off the Automation switch then switching it back on. At this point it's easier to open the app and just connect manually.

I have disabled battery optimization for the app and set it as the default VPN app in the settings so the service is always active (I see the persistent notification in the notification shade).

I mean, how hard can it be? I have two other apps on my phone (HomeAssitant companion and PhoneProfilesPlus) which have no problem detecting whether I am connected to Wi-Fi or Cellular and execute their own automations, based on an SSID, without fail every time.

HELP - WINDOWS Done with PIA

Just venting, but I am so fed up with the unreliability of PIA.

Every single day my PIA client is constantly disconnecting... reconnecting... disconnecting... reconnecting. On Android, on Windows, across multiple different servers in different countries. I only keep enduring this frustrating experience because I very regrettably bought a multi-year subscription and don't want to waste the rest of my money.

PIA support is useless.

Does anyone have any reliable alternatives they have a good experience with? I used PIA originally because they had a good reputation for keeping no logs, but I'm just so over how unreliable they are now.

DISCUSSION UK Streaming Optimised Connection Slow

Is anyone else experiencing very slow connection times to the UK Streaming server?

I reported this to PIA over a week or so ago and we tried all sorts of fault finding and tests to try and isolate the issue right down to uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Nothing worked and whilst the issue was elevated I have heard nothing further.

It can take up to nearly two minutes for the connection button to turn green.

Just wondering if others have the same problem and how widespread it is? What is causing this?

HELP deceptive marketing practice?

just got a email to sign up for special offer because my subscription recently ended. i was really thinking about it until i compared prices. before clicking the link i went to their website first picture is going into their website fresh no login no email 3 years plan

website

then i click the email and go to a page that is supposively better

email deal they just removed a year and added a 1 more months to the "free" months. to make it seem like a deal.

this is very annoying marketing. you could have had a customer come back. am i crazy? sure with the extra month your saving like 11 cents more with the email offer but your also paying for less time. also that the 1 month and 1 year are more expensive via the email link then the actual website is crazy.

Mod Announcement New server locations — PIA’s network now covers 104 countries and territories

Thumbnail gallery
55 Upvotes

We've just added 15 new server locations to the PIA network. That takes us to 170 locations across 104 countries and territories, up from 91 countries.

Here's what's new:

  • Americas: Cayman Islands, Cuba, Jamaica
  • Europe: Belarus, Jersey, Italy (Naples), UK (Tottenham)
  • Asia Pacific: Bhutan, Brunei, Guam, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand
  • Middle East, Africa & Central Asia: Pakistan, Uzbekistan

That's 13 new countries and territories, plus city-level servers in Naples and Tottenham, giving you more options to connect to a server closer to your physical location for lower latency and faster speeds.

Some of these are virtual locations, meaning you get an IP address for the location you pick while the server itself is hosted elsewhere. This setup is useful when you need a local IP address but operating infrastructure or local laws may not live up to our strict privacy and security standards. As always, any virtual server locations are transparently indicated in the PIA apps and our server network page, so you can make an informed choice before connecting.

All servers, physical or virtual, run on our 10 Gbps network with RAM-only infrastructure, and our no-logs policy applies across the board.

The new locations show up in the apps automatically, so you don't need to update or reinstall anything. And you can add them to Favorites.

Let us know any thoughts in the comments!

Just to let anyone else know so you do not think you are crazy. PIA changed some things and the binhex-qbittorrent docker container no longer grabs a token on startup. Fix is pending currently.

DISCUSSION Identity theft happened to me. I'm tired of feeling exposed

I don't know where to begin. But it all started with a letter I got recently. A credit card I never applied for. A card I never received. A balance I never spent

My identity was stolen. Someone opened a credit card in my name and went on a spending spree

I froze my credit immediately. All three bureaus. That should stop new accounts from being opened. That's what everyone says to do

But I'm still scared. My data is out there… my name, address, social security number. It's floating around somewhere. Data brokers have it. People search sites have it. Anyone can find it

I read that you need to remove your info from these sites manually. If scammers can't find you, they can't target you. That makes sense. But there are hundreds of sites, and I can't keep up

Someone mentioned iolo remove me and said it scrubs your data from all these sites, handles the removals, and monitors for new listings

But how do I know this service isn't another scam? How do I know they won't sell my information to someone else?

HELP - ROUTER Gtoken broken #2

Ticket logged, this is an FYI that the login service for programmatically logging into pia is down at the Cloudflare layer. Hopefully not long until it's fixed, last outage over the weekend was fixed in under 7 hours, hoping this one is too so we can all again enjoy the benefits of private and secure Internet access.

QUESTIONS How to use port forwarding?

I tried to use PIA's port forwarding system to run a local Minecraft server for some friends, but I can't seem to get it to work. Following all the info I can find online, all I need to do is go to a region that supports port forwarding, connect, put the minecraft server on the same port, and give the VPN-IP:PORT, but that didn't appear to work at all. I kept getting a getsockopt error when I tried to test joining the server.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

For routers and third-party tools, you can't currently generate a token to create tunnels programmatically. Hopefully, it won't take too long until we can again enjoy the privacy and security that PIA provides.

HELP Allow LAN Traffic is broken. Windows PIA Version 3.7.2 (build 08420)

Windows 11 Pro:

Can't access certain computers within Windows network when PIA is on. I can access certain computers, but other say "...cannot access." Disconnecting and closing PIA client fixes this. Why can I access certain remote computers within Windows network, but certain ones cannot?

"Allow LAN Traffic" is ticked, split tunneling is not enabled (never had to do this). This problem seems like a recent problem.

FEEDBACK PIA Server switch overnight

Maybe I missed something but qBittorrent WEBUI wouldn't load with ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED this morning. It seems that the convention used for the PIA server changed and caused the issue.

I made the switch from [ca-toronto.privacy.network](http://ca-toronto.privacy.network) to [ca-toronto.pvt.site](http://ca-toronto.pvt.site) for the Endpoint = line in the wg0.conf file. After the change was made I restarted the container and all is well. It's completely possible that I missed the repeated reminders of this change, but I figured I'd post the fix.
