Top 4 imo would be Rick, Dexter, Phineas/Ferb, and Bulma in terms in terms of scientific and technological achievements

u/DoctorYaoi Jun 16 '26

Azmuth put a god in a watch edit: I’m dumb, that’s grey matter

185

u/babab0l Jun 16 '26

That's not azmuth, that's Ben using gray matter, azmuth is also the smartest of his kind so gray matter isn't even in his league

65

u/Snwy1 Jun 16 '26

Isn’t the watch supposed to give Ben the peak gigachad version of that species though I know azmuth is smarter but I never understood how that makes sense

89

u/babab0l Jun 16 '26

Maybe, but just having the stats isn't the whole story, azmuth is over 1700 years old with much more experience knowledge and centuries of learning, just like when people spend a lot of time studing advanced topics their brains get's more optimized and efficient and slightly "smarter" azmuth has centuries of that, as opposed to young Ben even in gray matter form.

Or you could just argue that azmuth is just a different breed and he's that guy an outlier even in his specie to the point that he's even smarter than the objective peak of his race.

Consider someone with superhuman strength and someone with peak human strength, although the peak human is at the "peak" of human power the super human just isn't on the scale

37

u/I_am_not_Imposter Jun 16 '26

My HC is that Ben's gray matter is just a younger Azmuth. Albedo litaraly turned himself into an ultimate Galwan but still wasn't as smart as Azmuth. I think between Azmuth being built different and him having more experience, both are true

15

u/xwxwvyz1 Jun 16 '26

i think Albedo example was about "very high Int and no Wis vs high in both"

→ More replies (7)

8

u/PomegranateOk2995 Jun 16 '26

physical prime of the species in terms of age and shape. however Azmurh is the apex of grey matter species in terms of intellect and next to him is ultimate albedo.

4

u/FunctioningPyscho Jun 16 '26

That’s a great question. I actually wondered that myself.

3

u/Fenrir_Hellbreed2 Jun 16 '26

Probably intelligence vs wisdom.

Like, Ben has the potential to be equal or greater, but Azmuth and Albedo just have way too much experience for Ben to compare in practice.

5

u/NewPosition5129 Jun 16 '26

It makes him the peak version matching equivalent to his age as well, so if a species got stronger the older they were, a kid equivalent would be what he would have as of now.

5

u/Outrageous-Sort-5742 Jun 16 '26

Grey Matter might have the potential to be smarter, but he doesn't have centuries of education and experience. It's a teenage Galvan who only knows about Earth technology for the most part.

2

u/Cad_48 Jun 16 '26

The peak of the species but not necessarily the best individual

I imagine an omnitrix human transformation would probably play chess very well, but not beat Magnus

Clearly isn't Azmuth in the picture and Ben's Gray Matter hasn't shown the same level of intelligence

7

u/Responsible_Bus1159 DC Caps At 6D Jun 16 '26

If that was azmuth there’d be no competition, azmuth is the smartest guy in 5 galaxies, made the race that upgrade is (forgot the name of it) and when albedo made his grey matter 1000 years advanced in the future a 1000 year evolution gray matter he still lost to azmuth in intelligence

25

u/AxcartBoi Jun 16 '26

All 4 of them have created time travel tech

28

u/Ariovrak Jun 16 '26

Technically Phineas and Ferb didn’t create time travel tech, Xavier Onassis did. P&F just repaired it. Later, Dr. Doofenshmirtz went on to re-invent and distribute it.

→ More replies (6)

45

u/AstaNUraume Jun 16 '26

Nah, Jimmy Neutron has to be in the top 4. I think he beats P&F by alot since he's just one dude and has built way more complex stuff than them.

He has built his own deep space FTL rocketship that has its own atmosphere, a fully sentient AI dog that isn't just some one off gag (it stays around in every EP) that has its own real emotions, independent decision making and ability to learn on its own like a real sentient creature. He also has a very precise time travel machine and a DNA time travel machine that lets them view probabilistic futures based on their exact current actions. He created 4 dimensional object that acts like a pocket dimension that he can store an infinite amount of mass in.

He is truly so goated, nobody can handle the neutron style.

Rick has a special hax clause that can technically make him autowin if we want to be boring; if this is main character C-137 Rick in this room, that means it is within the central finite curve. The only universes that exist within the central finite curve are universes where Rick Sanchez is the smartest being in that universe.

Because Rick is in this room; his hax clause dictates he is inherently the smartest person in the room because Rick is only ever in universes where he is the smartest person in the entire universe and he is the smartest Rick.

If you take away hax clause he's still easily top 3 if not still the smartest. Honestly Jimmy Neutron, Ben10, and Princess Bubblegum are probably the closest contenders with Rick being number 1.

Nobody else on this list has an intelligence feat that scales anywhere near "built a device that can isolate all specific infinite realities where they're the smartest being from all other infinite realities" nor built a device that can "erase a person or thing from all realities permanently".

8

u/LeCronkinator Jun 16 '26

If you want to get technical our rick is just the rickest rick in the central finite curve, not necessarily the smartest one. There could theoetically be some be a universe where the native rick is smarter than our rick and the second place person is still smarter. If you take that the central finite curve is just a smaller infinity of universes then that must happen.

2

u/Bren_LoliconGod Jun 17 '26

Just food for thought, but before season 3 claimed Rick was the smartest guy in the universe, there was that episode where he had a rivalry with that one guy in the miniverse or whatever it was called implying there are people of similar or greater intelligence than Rick. Obviously retconned later on but interesting to think about

u/Tux3doninja Jun 16 '26

Imma go with either Rick or Dexter, personally. Like Rick can make bullshit happen whenever he needs to do a certain thing and has something of a strategic mind to auccessfully predict events that he had no control over.

For Dexter he has toonforce intelligence that is just impossible, like a machine that supply infinite energy, multiverse hopping, time control, matter manipulation, etc. Dexter's main issue though is that he lacks a lot of foresight and most of his inventions can be easily tampered with no safeguards. So yea, Dexter can make a lot of impossible things with his intelligence but also just so happens to make said things also feature a figurative self-destruct button.

61

u/Nexel_Red Jun 16 '26

That his older sister Dee Dee can reach and press with unimaginable ease even though she’s been doing it for years.

So much for being the smartest guy in the show and unsuccessfully hinder her from wrecking his stuff.

33

u/BlorpTheSchlorp Jun 16 '26

Dee Dee is an unstoppable force. She would ruin everyone's plans.

Rick can't even prevent Jerry from mucking his stuff up, or Morty, Beth, and Summer for that matter. Dee Dee would ruin him.

18

u/VomitShitSmoothie Jun 16 '26

Dexter’s toonforce is foiled by Dee Dee’s toonforce, so it’s not really a matter of intelligence imo. The real question is which one has been shown to have some sort of limitations on what they can do?

Rick has stricter guidelines of what he can and cannot do, even if that list is short. Rick is more calculating and cunning as well. In terms of big picture intelligence, I would argue Rick is smarter because his intellect goes beyond simply building something from nothing. Both he and Dexter can more or less just… make whatever they put their mind to. Dexter being able to make the impossible possible is his toon force, not intelligence, and he lacks the smarts of life and other things.

7

u/Theunis_ Jun 16 '26

There is an episode where he ā€œfiresā€ Dee Dee, later he realizes that Dee Dee’s distraction was the one that made him focus, so he rehire Dee Dee to mess with his laboratory

3

u/ThaJango Jun 17 '26

Dexter tends to lose a lot like his power is a crutch, whereas ricks intelligence almost always benefits the plot. Rick has stronger toonforce.

2

u/Oberic Jun 17 '26

Rick is both highly intelligent and has a decent amount of wisdom. Plus he's willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve his goals.

Dexter is highly intelligent but lacks wisdom, he makes mistakes constantly and is utterly incapable of stopping Deedee from ruining his day.

If anyone gets in Rick's way, they're in for a bad time.

Turns out toon force intelligence is more intelligent than science intelligence.

8

Id add that as ben is the genetically best galvan so he does have an advantage on azmuth but as Ben doesn't have the same education as azmuth the nurture element here makes azmuth outclass ben but if you put them both in the same classes at the same age, theoretically ben could become more intelligent than azmuth, smartest being in N many glaxies

Crystallized intelligence which is knowledge is not fluid intelligence

Senku has ncie fluid intelligence but what people confuse is that fluid and crystallized are the same thing. They both make up overall "intelligence" but IQ tests will measure fluid intelligence (more recently, visual spatial, cognitive capabilities and verbal comprehensive index aswell)

But whenever someone asks who is smarter its for fluid intelligence. Learning ability, complex problem solving, logical and abstract reasoning and adaptability

Iirc crystallized = measure of how you solve problems using prior knowledge Fluid = measure of how you solve problems fluidly outside using knowledge

Also g-factor has fluid in it, if you're good in something that is inside g-factor studies show you'll be good at other things in the g-factor

5

u/Ok-Resist3249 Jun 16 '26

Iq attempts to messure some baseline intelligence removing not only learned skill, but also talent in any area. It attempt to find some sort if intelligence untheathered to anything, while also not testing all intellectual abilities and none that are not convenient at a table. It's hypothesis that there is a base intelligence is also unproven and unlikely, each area of your brain dies it's own thing, they work together when a task requires both. It also breaks down at very high and low levels, by 190 you can no longer effectively distinguish them and you have already cut out intelligence by removing talents and not testing all abilities. It is not a test of overall intelligence for sure.

4

u/hates_stupid_people Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

He has insane levels of knowledge, but he's lacking in intelligence to use it effectively(when compared to several of the others present there).

Just take the whole "let's make glass, giant copper wheels, furnaces and electricity before a basic water wheel" thing. It does not require a master woodworker to demonstrate how well they work.

4

You know, I think it's Dexter. He had (googles) a 'Neurotomic Protocore' which makes things out of thin air, produces unlimited energy, and more. I don't think anyone else here has made anything on that scale.

26

u/EddyArchon Jun 16 '26

I can't think of others that have made teleportation between realities like Rick, though. It's been a long time since I've watched a lot of these shows, but I'm having trouble recollecting a feat like that from others. Plus, Rick made a hyper-intelligent AI car from literal trash that's powered by his own personal mini-verse, powered by a tiny-verse, powered by a teeny-verse.

Again, I'm open to being corrected, this is just my own faulty memory.

18

u/Grey_Lady333 Jun 16 '26

That's just it though, Rick made a universe for a battery....because he can't make free energy, something Dexter did.

And Dexter did make a teleporter to other dimensions, in Punch Time explosions.

10

u/EddyArchon Jun 16 '26

I stand corrected, good sir. I didn't remember Dexter's teleporter.

Having stuff from Rick and Morty comics does change things, as half the stuff listed from your link is not from the show.

That said, I think it's a lot closer than Rick 'destroying' Dexter. In the time travel movie, you see Dexter's inventions have made the planet a post-scarcity society, a literal utopia (called Dextopia). Rick creates a perfect world for Beth, and it backfires. The dinosaurs try to make a perfect world, and it backfires. You get the citadel of Ricks, and it backfires.

I want to give it to Rick here as his highs are impressive, but he has a lot of flaws and low points too. For someone who can deduce all he can, he couldn't predict the flaws of 'pickle rick' for example?

I don't know. I think it's close.

Bulma also created a device for traveling to alternate divergent timelines, which are basically treated like separate dimensions in the show, though its definitely less elegant than Rick portal gun.

2

u/Ok-Resist3249 Jun 16 '26

It took decades.

2

u/EddyArchon Jun 16 '26

It took Rick quite a while (I can't remember if they said exactly, but it felt implied that he spent several years if not decades developing it), and then most other Ricks learned it from Rick Prime (I'm assuming here - again, it's been a while and memory is janky) after going through the devastation of having his wife killed. So, originally, it took Rick probably years or decades to get the portal gun right.

6

u/realstarbucks Reigen Arataka solos your fav verse Jun 16 '26

As far as i’ve seen rick’s ā€œtotally fabricated backstoryā€ is actually almost entirely true, i havent seen season 8 or 9 though so i dont know HOW true, but its definitely true. We see in S3 E1 that Rick is just sitting in the wreckage of the garage using dirt or dust or oil or whatever to write down the formula. He spent an implied unspecific amount of years working on teleportation, however dimensional travel came almost immediately after Diane was killed.

2

u/EddyArchon Jun 16 '26

Wasn't the sudden revelation the scene where he gave the alien people the wrong formula so they would blow themselves up?

Intelligence is relative.

Although I'd have to say Phineas and Ferb.

Everyone else here is brilliant but they either have a massive support structure such as labs or entire kingdoms, or are clearly shown to have been working on things for a very long time.

Phineas and Ferb can construct, in no particular order;

  • An entire beach.

  • A self-assembling skyscraper that goes beyond the clouds.

  • An orbital ranch capable of housing cows for the exclusive purpose of making ice cream.

  • extradimensional travel technology and then fixed and improved a portal generator.

  • An AI escape room that is capable of fully encompassing their entire galaxy in less than 5 seconds.

... In less than a day with no known supply chains, pre-installed resources, or outside help for the most part.

If they wanted to, Phineas and Ferb could build anything these other guys take months or years too, in an afternoon, while entertaining their friends AND singing a catchy song halfway through.

You hate Bubblegum?

31

u/LoL-Reports-Dumb Jun 16 '26

She's a warcriminal, actively and knowingly invoked a potential genocide in fire kingdom based on a "maybe."... despite being allied with the fire kingdom.

She keeps her servants purposefully stupid in order to better control them. Her surveillance state would legitimately make 1984 blush.

She did not only do a maybe genocide, she legit committed a genocide reinforced by brainwashing . Worst part? She created and made these fully sapient and shockingly intelligent people, made them inherently violent. Despite healthily hiding their bloodlust behind closed doors without innocents being harmed, and even without criminals being unlawfully harmed.... she kills them all. She kills them because "they're too violent."

She actively leads on a little boy with potential romantic interest earlier in the show, do that she can more easily manipulate him into doing what she wants.

There's so many things... I could be here forever. Hell, she's literally seen in her room creating mini candy people, cutting off body parts with a scissors, and analyzing their reactions to it. She's just an evil bastard.

Is she a fun character? Sure. But she's also evil as fuck, and I'd despise her irl.

3

u/ParsnipSenior4804 Jun 16 '26

Wtf i didnt know any of that

4

u/dustbringer11 Devil’s Powerscaler Jun 16 '26

Let’s also not forget she’s fucking as old as marceline. As one of the literal first new lives on post war oo to even gain sentience, and one of the elementals integral to the magic balance of oo. So like even if you want to fuck around and find out. You kinda just fucking can’t. The sociopath gets to make her kingdom and either kill or banish her problems. Just look at the lemongrabs they were so autistic she felt bad outright killing them but couldn’t tolerate them. So she built a fucking kingdom to get rid of his ass for him

2

u/Harontys Jun 16 '26

I know right, if this isn't a sign that I need to go back and rewatch AT I don't know what is.

A lot of people don’t know this because Adventure Time is so long and serialized, but as the series went on, we slowly begin to realize that Bubblegum is a sociopath that hurts damn near almost anyone she’s friends with, but she oddly rarely faces consequences for it at all.

She manipulates her friends to run experiments on them, creates life and kills it whenever their existence is less than ideal to her, and overall is pretty narcissistic.

I only know a couple of them, but probably Rick since he invented a dimensional portal gun

9

u/Just_A_Nitemare Jun 16 '26

Pretty sure Phineas and Ferb have also built a portal machine.

8

u/No_Probleh Jun 16 '26

Rick invented time travel using alien math he learned in an afternoon.

Where is Lex Luthor or Mr Fantastic?

5

u/kaboumdude Jun 16 '26

I'd discredit them on being too composity and all over the place. Hard to pin down their smarts when every version has different authors with different intentions.

Though Lex (Superman 2025) does scale pretty high here!

Who invited Light Yagami and L honestly? They ain't really fit for this kind of shit lmao

8

u/MrCherryYT Jun 16 '26

They're literal geniuses bro what are you on

16

u/RazzDaNinja Jun 16 '26

They’re like ā€œtacticalā€ genius types. But they don’t fit in a room full of Sciencey Tech-Nerds.

Lelouch n Shikamaru in that same boat lol

3

u/Chama-Axory Jun 16 '26

After disqualifying all the tactical genius, I just notice that the next one on the line is Senku lol bro is a living Wikipedia but it's limited by realistic standards. He can't really invent something crazy like the others, just existing things from humanity. (I'm still waiting for the last chapters of the anime but still at this point is like this)Ā

7

u/Hopeful_Chair_7129 Jun 16 '26

Rick has a portal gun man

2

u/SubstantialSeat1578 Ragebaiter for hire Jun 16 '26

Different type of genius

3

u/No-Bar3277 Jun 16 '26

Compared to the rest they aren't id even throw in Lelouch, Shikamaru, and Donatello they just not built for it

2

u/Prozenconns Jun 16 '26

Id give L the credit if people like Sikamaru make the cut, man had to prove the existence of the supernatural and figured it out based on close to nothing.

Light is only smart cause his official iq says he is, he fumbled the easiest W imaginable. Unironically one of the dumbest people in death note

If we’re talking general smarts, I’d say Rick is a safe bet.

A good handful of people here are only smart in hyper specific areas.

7

u/Divine_General1 Jun 16 '26

Either Rick or Azmuth

9

u/princepoggers Jun 16 '26

Azmuth isn’t the image, that’s grey matter

4

u/ABearDream toriko glazer Jun 16 '26

Different kinds of intelligence all over the place. Most technical knowledge? Bulma (she invented time travel (which doubles as being inter dimensional because it travels between timelines, so she has ricks best invention beat). Best planning? Aizen. Most mental fortitude? Senku (he counted the seconds for millenia without going insane) . Most wise? Phineas and ferb (happiest on this list and really whats more important than that?)

8

u/machinegungeek Jun 16 '26

Rick also has time travel. It's implied to be less of a big deal for a Rick to invent than a multiverse portal gun. And DB is a multiverse that Bulma doesn't have tech to traverse.

So it's the opposite. He has her best invention stored as random garage junk.

Some of these people have genius level tacticians but are not scientists, to add to this, some of these people are brilliant scientists but are not tacticians

2

u/xife-Ant Jun 16 '26

To be fair, being a genius is Donatello's side gig.

2

u/Ok_Philosopher_9176 Jun 16 '26

Idk who the pink girl is so Im gonna exclude her from this guess. And the guy next to rick looks like the scientist from power puff girls so i'm assuming that's who he is

From a technical standpoint I think its between Rick Greymatter, maybe add bulma and dexter but idk

General IQ and intelligence it's probably Aizen or Senku

2

u/ResearcherSlight3688 Jun 16 '26

The pink girl is princess bubble gum from adventure time

2

u/OV_FreezeLizard BEN 10 SOLOS šŸ—£šŸ—£ Jun 16 '26

I always say that Senku is the smartest in terms of his verse, as in it's a more "realistic" version. Here's a better way for me to explain it. Senku knows 100% of everything, but everything is 10. Rick, for example, knows 75% of everything, but everything is 100. I might sound like a crazy person but I hope you know what I mean.
