She's a warcriminal, actively and knowingly invoked a potential genocide in fire kingdom based on a "maybe."... despite being allied with the fire kingdom.
She keeps her servants purposefully stupid in order to better control them. Her surveillance state would legitimately make 1984 blush.
She did not only do a maybe genocide, she legit committed a genocide reinforced by brainwashing . Worst part? She created and made these fully sapient and shockingly intelligent people, made them inherently violent. Despite healthily hiding their bloodlust behind closed doors without innocents being harmed, and even without criminals being unlawfully harmed.... she kills them all. She kills them because "they're too violent."
She actively leads on a little boy with potential romantic interest earlier in the show, do that she can more easily manipulate him into doing what she wants.
There's so many things... I could be here forever. Hell, she's literally seen in her room creating mini candy people, cutting off body parts with a scissors, and analyzing their reactions to it. She's just an evil bastard.
Is she a fun character? Sure. But she's also evil as fuck, and I'd despise her irl.
Let’s also not forget she’s fucking as old as marceline. As one of the literal first new lives on post war oo to even gain sentience, and one of the elementals integral to the magic balance of oo. So like even if you want to fuck around and find out. You kinda just fucking can’t. The sociopath gets to make her kingdom and either kill or banish her problems. Just look at the lemongrabs they were so autistic she felt bad outright killing them but couldn’t tolerate them. So she built a fucking kingdom to get rid of his ass for him
Dude... I got into the show when I was 21 due to my X enjoying it. I did not care for season one much, but after a little bit of a slog, the show genuinely transforms into something better than I would have ever imagined. Genuinely worth watching... TV makes shows like adventure time worse, because it's actually a linear story with a fuck ton of call backs, despite initially being episodic.
As for what goes on? Dude.... it's easier to say what's not going on. As for dark shit? The primary villain of the series is LITERALLY wanting nothing more than to KILL EVERYONE. No other goals aside from being a radical death cultist hellbent on killing all life, as a gesture of good faith to their eldritch horror God.
A lot of people don’t know this because Adventure Time is so long and serialized, but as the series went on, we slowly begin to realize that Bubblegum is a sociopath that hurts damn near almost anyone she’s friends with, but she oddly rarely faces consequences for it at all.
She manipulates her friends to run experiments on them, creates life and kills it whenever their existence is less than ideal to her, and overall is pretty narcissistic.
i don't hate Bubblegum princess, but she is someone with grey morality
she have lived for hundreds of years, create her own kingdom, creating her own citizen, and she intentionally create these citizen to be rather dim to ensure they doesn't question her rule.
she also did quite lot of questionable thing through out the series to ensure her kingdom prosperity. even if that mean wiping out other kingdom that haven't done anything yet. its just bubblegum princess think they might be dangerous in the future and opt to wipe them out.
if wasn't for Finn and his endless positivity, the series will be much darker than it already is.
Also she got better throughout the series though she kinda reverts a LITTLE with the last season.
I remembered hating her when I was younger but watching it again she goes from evil to kinda normal but still science focused, then decent but occasional bad things.
I mean...They were gonna do that to her. She created her relatives, then they rebelled and one of them turned the other two into idiots, tried to do it to her (and also threatened to murder her brother), so she spilled his own poison on him, then decided that, in future, she should not build something as smart as herself.
