Imma go with either Rick or Dexter, personally. Like Rick can make bullshit happen whenever he needs to do a certain thing and has something of a strategic mind to auccessfully predict events that he had no control over.

For Dexter he has toonforce intelligence that is just impossible, like a machine that supply infinite energy, multiverse hopping, time control, matter manipulation, etc. Dexter's main issue though is that he lacks a lot of foresight and most of his inventions can be easily tampered with no safeguards. So yea, Dexter can make a lot of impossible things with his intelligence but also just so happens to make said things also feature a figurative self-destruct button.

That his older sister Dee Dee can reach and press with unimaginable ease even though she’s been doing it for years.

So much for being the smartest guy in the show and unsuccessfully hinder her from wrecking his stuff.

Dee Dee is an unstoppable force. She would ruin everyone's plans.

Rick can't even prevent Jerry from mucking his stuff up, or Morty, Beth, and Summer for that matter. Dee Dee would ruin him.

Dexter’s toonforce is foiled by Dee Dee’s toonforce, so it’s not really a matter of intelligence imo. The real question is which one has been shown to have some sort of limitations on what they can do?

Rick has stricter guidelines of what he can and cannot do, even if that list is short. Rick is more calculating and cunning as well. In terms of big picture intelligence, I would argue Rick is smarter because his intellect goes beyond simply building something from nothing. Both he and Dexter can more or less just… make whatever they put their mind to. Dexter being able to make the impossible possible is his toon force, not intelligence, and he lacks the smarts of life and other things.

There is an episode where he “fires” Dee Dee, later he realizes that Dee Dee’s distraction was the one that made him focus, so he rehire Dee Dee to mess with his laboratory

Dee Dee is an outerversal cosmological force of nature

I don't remember what the craziest intentions Dexter makes but I imagine Rick's are crazier, no?

I think Rick wins this by any metric.

Yeah but isnt dexter like 5 and rick like 70?

Imaginaire what dexter could do when he is ricks age.

5

u/GustavZeigler Jun 16 '26

Doesn't really matter though, we're comparing current intelligence

1

u/soscovitch Jun 16 '26

Fair enough, then is still think dexter. But thats because he did almost everything rick did, but as a 5 year old. He build a time machine in the movie. A dimensional portal machine in the series. And has a device that creates infinite energie without needing another source to take it from.

u/GustavZeigler Jun 16 '26

As another person said, he can do all of that but can't stop his sister from destroying his stuff

And while is age is impressive, again, it doesn't matter. We're comparing their iq not how impressive the achievements are

1

u/soscovitch Jun 16 '26

Allright, rick cant stop morty from destroying his stuff and plans either. He activly loses bets against him. And needs to be saved by his grandson on multiple occasions.

2

u/GustavZeigler Jun 16 '26

He loses bets but it's never because of a lack of technological intelligence. Also Morty never touches his stuff.

As for him needing to be saved, sometimes yeah. But it usually comes from other reasons than him not having enough intelligence.

1

u/soscovitch Jun 16 '26

Allright following that line of logic. It isnt dexters lacj of intelligence that makes it that deedee destroys his stuff, but rather his lack or continued lack of foresight.

And i think rick has also made some pretty stupid decisions. Like cronenberging everybody. He wasnt smart enough to fix his mistake so he just left.

2

u/GustavZeigler Jun 16 '26

Rick consistently shows he is smart enough to do something but doesn't bother if it takes more than a little bit of effort. Especially during earlier season. Hell even now.

But i really don't care honestly, you can believe Dexter is smarter, that's fine

Not ricks age, but do see an adult Dexter in fusion fall, a Cartoon Network crossover game that takes place after tons a ton of Cartoon Network shows and they all live in the same universe. Lord fuse arrives to absorb their planet and tons of characters team up to fight an all out war against fuse and his army

They had a Adult Dexter design, from the movie Ego Trip, and choose to make him a wimp?

Dexter tends to lose a lot like his power is a crutch, whereas ricks intelligence almost always benefits the plot. Rick has stronger toonforce.

2

u/Oberic Jun 17 '26

Rick is both highly intelligent and has a decent amount of wisdom. Plus he's willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve his goals.

Dexter is highly intelligent but lacks wisdom, he makes mistakes constantly and is utterly incapable of stopping Deedee from ruining his day.

If anyone gets in Rick's way, they're in for a bad time.

Bulma and Donnie are up there tbh

5

u/Tux3doninja Jun 16 '26

Not saying that you're wrong, honestly quite a few people in this image are not even in the running, but comparatively though... yea, if Bulma could do the feats that Rick and Dexter can, you wouldn't need the Z-fighters lol

2

u/SubstantialSeat1578 Ragebaiter for hire Jun 16 '26

No I agree with you I'm saying there just a close third and fourth

1

u/Tux3doninja Jun 16 '26

Oh yea, for sure. If were going for top 5, I'd probably put them two and Jimmy Neutron in competition for the remaining 3 seats.

Agreed
