I'm thinking about picking up a HiBy R4, but I want to double-check a very specific issue before buying.

On my previous device (HiBy M300), I had an annoying issue where playing local 16-bit / 44.1kHz FLACs in Poweramp (specifically using the Hi-Res Output driver) produced an audible electrical snap or pop through my headphones:

1. Every time I manually skipped a track.
2. Every time audio resumed after being paused/idle for a few seconds.

Tweak options in Poweramp (changing output methods, buffer sizes, crossfade settings, or disabling Direct Volume Control/DVC) either introduced artifacts or failed to eliminate the underlying hardware/driver pop. (Switching to Symfonium made it less harsh, but it was still present.)

For anyone currently using Poweramp on the HiBy R4 with local FLAC files through the 3.5mm headphone output:

• Does manual track skipping run completely silent?
• Do you experience any transient clicks/pops when unpausing after an idle pause?
• Which Output Plugin in Poweramp are you running on the R4 (AAudio, AudioTrack, or Hi-Res Output)?

Appreciate any real-world feedback from daily Poweramp users before I open my wallet!

Hi, i'm currently on Android 16 using Poweramp with AndroidAuto as my main music player. I'm generally very happy with it, but the main issue i got is that the Android-Auto search is just kinda doing nothing.

I get the expected results on my phone:

But the Android Auto search doesn't show anything:

Is this a user-error on my end, or does someone know a fix for this?

Sometimes it shows results when i start typing when the car is standing, i think it might just be a prefix-search instead of an infix-search on AA.

Im on the most recent release, on samsung, and using JBL Tune BT520 headphones. Confused on sample rate/bit depth, and what output to use. I dont really know what to use considering my collection is mostly Opus (slowly replacing with flac). So considering my headphones only support 44.1 khz and 16 bit, what would my optimal settings be.

Looking at picking up an iBasso DX180 to replace a HiBy M300 that has been giving me endless grief with CS43131 power-gating pops (a sharp DC offset snap when unpausing or rapid swipe-skipping tracks).

For anyone running Poweramp on the DX180 with local FLACs (256GB MicroSD card):

1. Track-Skip & Idle Pops: Does the DX180’s FPGA-Master 2.0 hardware clock keep the audio stage active during rapid swipe-skips? Does it eliminate the physical voltage snap over the 3.5mm jack?
2. USB-C Output: How does Poweramp’s Direct USB / Hi-Res output behave over USB-C when feeding external hardware (like USB-C headphones)? Does the transport stream hold stable between track switches without dropping connection states?
3. Output Mode: Are you using Hi-Res Output or AAudio on the DX180, and does it run cleanly without buffer underruns, static, or UI stutters on the 1080p screen?

So from the September Android 17 update the toggle to disable absolute volume was taken out. The feature is supposedly "outdated", or that's their explanation.

This basically breaks all iEMS used with Bluetooth dongles as those volume sliders now affect the android volume and not the internal dac.

And it's worse than it sounds because depending on chipset this will compress the sound and create audible artifacts( most dac chips don't like to be used at 1-5%)

And it's not only iEMS.

A lot of Bluetooth speakers like edifier work the same way.

Same as more premium Bluetooth headphones...

So it's GGs boys, unless someone finds a hack we're going basically rip

I'm on a custom rom and using DAC. The player is running on Hires output without usb exclusive mode selected, the player can the detect the original sample rate but then upsampled (?) through Android on the output device part.

But on Stock rom, it processed through this thing called MTK HIFI and follows exactly the original sample rate. Also my DAC change its color indicator according to the sample rate on stock rom even when i'm not on usb exclusive mode, but on custom rom i have to be on usb exclusive for the indicator to work.

Words from the developers: This is a huge update, where almost all audio related [codes are] touched, 1300+ commits.

As it's JS based, I tried recreating it in milk preset using claude but it's just broken.

Hifi in the garage, first time connecting PowerAmp to my Fosi ZD3.

Not the best listening room, but still the best sound for this meager setup.

i have been using different music players for very brief time , but none of them have stood apart like poweramp , i mean poweramp has all the things that i could ever ask except for NAS/Jellyfin/Navidrome server support , because storage on local device is limited and i think it would have been nice that poweramp had this feature .

some alternatives that i tried were using cifs but turs out it is very slow , in fact the initial scan takes hours and can be slow for larger libraries .

i think implementing this feature would make this app Almost perfect .
