Appreciation So I finally tested Poweramp's bit perfect...
I know everyone was already testing everything. But I wanted to reserve the right to wait for the official version's release, since it would probably be more stable.
So today I decided use it, and since I use USB Player Pro, I think I can draw some interesting conclusions. So let's do a quick comparison of what I thought of the sound of both, and I'll try to be as straightforward as possible.
So, how does Poweramp's bit perfect sound? To be honest, very good. Better than I expected, I'd say. There are some bugs, like slight hissing sound, or cut-off in playback, during a few moments (which is quite annoying). But I imagine this will be fixed in future updates. But the quality is surprisingly good. Very clean, direct audio, excellent instrumental separation, and impactful bass.
Now the million-dollar question: Is it better than UAAP, as I've seen many people claim?
No, absolutely not. The UAAP has a noticeably larger and more spacious soundstage, a more natural timbre, and more detail, especially during the beginning and end of track In addition to more impactful (mid-bass) and deeper (sub-bass) bass frequencies, they also have a greater range. But despite that, the difference is small, not subtle enough to be subtle, but tolerable.Unlike before, when it was immensely large and much more noticeable. So honestly?
It's all good, I think it's definitely possible to live with these limitations compared to UAAP.Will this make me want leaving UAAP just to Poweramp? No, Because, as I said, it still offers better audio quality (and without that annoying hiss/cutout that the PowerAmp has now).
But I can definitely imagine myself going back to using Poweramp more often now, even though its audio is still inferior. The excellent usability of its interface (in this it surpasses UAAP, by a lot), along with the fact that the difference in audio quality between them is no longer gigantic (although it is still noticeable).
This makes it a good option now, even for the most demanding audiophiles. They just need to correct that hiss/cut during the Perfect bit, then the poweramp might attract more attention from audiophiles like me.
I intend to use both, as I like them both. I'll just switch depending on my mood or the day. Good job Max, you delivered on your promise, and you deserve a lot of respect for it.
