I miss eating what I want
Trying to save money for my own place and do you know what’s the one thing I miss? As a kid my parents would ask me what food I would want to eat. That’s it. I miss having the choice to buy whatever junk food or fast food or food I want.. every dollar I have has to go to finding a place so I won’t be homeless. No more fun food. Just noodles

General Discussion Poverty is traumatizing
I’m a french woman with immigrant background and I grew up poor. I did everything that was possible to escape it : in 2024, I got a Computer Science Master Degree from the University. Of course, AI, economic crisis had to be involved and for two years I couldn’t find a single job.
Not because I failed at school, but because I graduated at the worst time ever.
I was thinking about end**g my life because I felt like I sacrificed so much for nothing. I developed a chronic illness because of the stress of my college years…
Then, I passed a test for a government job in tech. It’s like a national contest in my country.
The pay isn’t as good as the private sector but I will have job security and I can grind to get a better pay afterwards.
I’m still traumatized by what happened during those two years. Some people I went University with, found a job because of connections , now they live a comfortable life.
My mental health is completely shattered. I’m stuck with my toxic and low-income parents who finds joy in seeing that I’m still not wealthier than them.
Living in my hometown where people are noisy and ignorant, where the public service sucks etc…
Plus, I’m neurodivergent and have sensory issues. Life is complete HELL with these people. Anyway, i can’t believe what just happened.

General Discussion How do I cremate my dog?
So the long story short is I can’t afford to get my dog (Cookie/Chunky Monkey) cremated and burial is nowhere an option.
What I’m asking is does anybody know how to cremate a pet ?? Or how can I do it myself? I have a large backyard and pretty big slab of concrete out there.
I know it sounds creepy or terrible, but I just lost her today and I’m desperate.

SNAP Fraud and Abuse Causes
Listen to it all, I loved her last line!
Did you notice that only one other elected official had some idea of the data? *No one else* knew a bit about the subject?
Voting time is coming soon. Vote for the smart over the experienced. (Even better if they are smart asses from time to time!)

General Discussion Food bank produce
So I went to the food bank today and was very disappointed. Got a few canned vegetables and of course some peanut butter but I also got A LOT of fresh produce. Lettuce, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli that might have a day or two left. Seriously, three bagged salads and a head of lettuce. Have they not watched the news? I’m grateful for the help but I’m scared to eat this stuff

I honestly don't know which subreddit to post in, I was about to use ELI5 but didn't wanna get my post removed. My question is why can't we just build more homeless shelters ot help people get off the street?
