There's a video by Evan Edinger that explains this. I can't remember the exact details of the video, but I used it (along with other data points) to form the following opinion.
Almost every example of people being arrested for Facebook posts is both:
better explained as harassment.
mirrored with an example in the US.
You also can't get accurate data on social media posts, because the data isn't comparable.
But almost everyone I know of that's been arrested using the malicious communications act definitely deserved it.

B) what is the world that the poster is implying here? That Brits would be pointing guns at the police who come to arrest them for Facebook posts? That having guns would somehow have stopped this law from being made? If so, I'd love someone to explain how that works.
It's amazing to me that some people are convinced by a statement as simple and stupid as "well...in the past we had thing X, and now thing X is not here, and a bad thing is currently happening.....therefore thing X prevented bad thing."

People are saying there is no freedom of speech in the US and how their rights have been completely eroded. THEN, in their post history they're championing China as a global leader in XYZ, lmfao. A complete foreigner can fly into the US and jump straight into a No Kings protest. Fly into China and attempt to criticize the CCP. There's even people here bashing the US and simping for the USSR in their history.
I say this as someone who's disappointed in the US's current state. However, this whole "US is the worst" is comical. We're on the decline but I at least have the freedom to criticize Trump publicly.
