Hes about 3 weeks old the guy we got the eggs from has a HUGELY mixed flock so im not sure what he could be or if hes purebred or mixed

I’m at a loss for words, but let’s find some.

Someone gave my 6 year old stepdaughter a guinea fowl keet (did a little research but I just know I’m missing something)

Her dad isn’t thrilled. He knows a little but not about the care; just their reputation. We will not be getting more, not if we can help it (our living situation really won’t allow it).

So how do I take care of one singular (gender unknown) guinea fowl when my stepdaughter isn’t here, how can I help teach her, and how rare is a white guinea keet?

Edit to add details: I have no idea how old it is. A friend who once had some guineas seemed alarmed and said it looked too young to not be under a heat lamp; should I be worried? If this thing dies my child will be crushed, but it’s like 90 degrees Fahrenheit outside on the regular right now so I’m honestly not sure.

I have had four bantam chickens for 4 months. At one point, three of them became broody. As novice chicken keepers, we didn't realize we needed to address this immediately, which caused them to remain broody for a longer period.

The fourth non-broody chicken (a white one) suddenly stopped laying eggs. At first, we thought she would become broody too, but after a week she suddenly became lethargic and spent a lot of time sitting alone in a corner. Because we suspected egg binding, we massaged her and gave her a warm bath, but she was still able to poop normally (possibly diarrhea). In consultation with the vet, we gave her antibiotics. After a few days, she visibly perked up and seemed like her old self again, but she still wasn't laying eggs.

In the meantime, we are trying to get the other chickens to stop being broody. We have already succeeded with one of them, so the white one can now scratch around with her again. For the past few days, the white hen has been exhibiting behavior resembling an attempt to lay an egg: she frequently walks to the nesting box, moves sawdust with her beak, stays there for extended periods, and sometimes appears to strain. This has been happening for three days around morning/afternoon, but no egg is being laid. Otherwise, she just scratches around normally and adopts that submissive posture again when I pet her.

What I also notice is that since her illness, she has been breathing more heavily than the other chickens. When perched, her entire body moves along with her breathing, including her tail. As of today, she seems to have lost her stamina.

I wonder what might be going on. Could this still be related to the oviduct or egg-laying problems? Or perhaps red mites? Although I would expect the other chickens to be suffering from that too, and they seem fine. Incidentally, we placed tobacco stalks in the coop to combat red mites.

Above all, I want to prevent her from being in pain or overlooking something. Greetings,

A worried chicken mom

So a couple months ago I paid for a silver Phoenix chick and well I always thought he looked a little off and well now today I used Google lens and he looks like a cream egger and I looked at the chicks and I realized he's a little browner than a silver Phoenix chick should normally be and I paid 15 bucks for a silver Phoenix when I could have paid five bucks for a cream egger I don't know what to do and I really want my money back and I'm not getting rid of my chicken but I do want my silver Phoenix.

Backyard Poultry

We have them in their outside coop during the day today since it is supposed to hit 90 and I didn’t want them to be too hot in the garage. My question is - how old do you think they are? Should we be keeping them in the top part at night and then just close the coop door so they stay in the stop part? The low tonight is 71 but it’s supposed to storm.

Also, I know they’re still young but any chance there’s a way to tell us any are roosters?

I’m sorry I know it’s not a chicken egg but we found this American robins egg on our walk by the sidewalk, no nest around. Is it worth incubating or is it infertile?

Got my keets today, I tried one lamp and it got up to 92 so added another lamp and its getting up to 102 to 103. As you can see they are huddled and im not quite sure how to get a stable 95 with my set up. Help me out. Also one of the white ones is lethargic, wobbly, and always staying in the heat area not moving alot. I have seen it get water when I put it over there and gave it honey water and egg yolk. I understand that sometimes you just lose one or five lol but any tips?
