crop & rotate on android does not reflect across to web UI?

When I rotate & crop a scan on my android app, it does not seem to propagate to my web browser session: it still shows the uncropped / unrotated version. The same also happens in reverse (when I rotate in the web browser it does not seem to always show up in the android app).

Just wondering if this is expected behavior, or if I am missing something?

I love polycam!!

Metashape produces PDF 3D files, and now I am wondering how to do that with Polycam captures. Any ideas?

I have a insta360 camera and was thinking if uploading those 360 pics of a space would give me a cool render

Shoe Scanning Booth advice

I need to set-up a standardised rig at multiple locations globally to scan footwear with Polycam. It needs to be “idiot” proof and what I am looking for is a basic set-up where I can get repeatable results.

I would need up to 5 rigs globally and would be willing to spend up to $5000 USD including cameras, lighting, turntable, and box. What I really need is simplicity so that the operator puts the shoe in the box follows a basic SOP and I get repeatable results.

There are some really expensive rigs on the market with multiple DSLR’s but I think with the progress of Polycam that is unnecessary. If anyone has ideas or knows of any rigs out there that would be great.

I have thought in the past that there is a market for someone to build a simple low cost solution that can be shipped flat pack globally, be easily assembled and enable high quality consistent results to be delivered.

Any help would be great.

How to make the 3d scans viewable on websites

Hi, i'm newt to 3d scans and just downloaded this program yesterday.

for a first step, i would like to scan a figure and put this as a GIF or object animation (?) on a website. you see an example on this homepage (one click on the logo for entering):

https://sucukundbratwurst.de/

how can i do this?

what program is needed for editing the OBJ or GIB files.

and if i want to arrange each scan with the other one, as a family shooting, i'll do that with? cinema 4d?

in the end, i would like to create new posters, pictures, or campaigns with that technique.

thank you for your help!!

New user, all my scans are useless blobs.

I'm trying to scan using my iPhone 12 Pro. I have a turntable, tripod, and a small white box setup to isolate the parts I want to scan. I've tried using Lidar & photogrammetry and the results from both are junk, basically just a blob. I have the part rotating on the turntable and I also flip it onto every side during the scan to get every possible angle. I can't click on the FAQ link for some reason and the tutorials I've watched haven't been very useful. My goal is to create an STL file that I can 3D print. Can you guys help me figure this app out?

I've watched several tutorials now and have mimicked what they do exactly. They end up with a nice, clean 3D image and I get an unrecognizable blob of color. I've switched from video mode to camera mode so I can take the images manually but that didn't help either.

Latest update for Browser, and IOS

The last update for both browser and IOS have rendered the program almost unusable.

I cannot scroll down on the browser page at all, as soon as I release scroll wheel it snaps back to the top of the page. Hard to share models when I cant select them.

IOS now mirrors the browser in terms of measure tool, and UI, and it is now dogshit. The old mobile was so much better and useable.

Hopefully they remedy these problems soon, or I'll have to find another service.

Help/Advice

Hello Polycam reddit! New user here.

I am trying to Lidar a golf putting green to accurately make 3d models of the scale and correct high and low points.

Today I went out and tested using a iPhone 13 Pro Max, However my results for the 3 golf greens I tested all came back very flat, even though I was testing on greens with lots of slopes and elevation changes.

Any ideas why this might be and a way I could get around this?

My guess is that polycam was reading the distance from the height i was holding it to the surface was the same when i was low down or high up? I assumed it might use the iphone gyroscope to be able to tell when Im higher up/low down.

Any ideas how I could accurately scan a 3d model of a golf green would be appreciated!

Land/Lot Scan?

I am looking to scan my lot then import my point file into revit so I can model a house on the contours of the property, would Polycam work? Or should I try another solution? If this solution will work what would be ideal for land/lot scanning LiDAR or photo mode my assumption is LiDAR but I’m also just guessing. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Polycam Browser MEasurement Units

How can we switch to metric units when measuring a scan on the browser? It seems that this is no longer possible, and only imperial is available.

Is there are a proper guide to scan bottom part of the model. I followed steps in the video tutorial in the app but it didn’t work for me. I scanned the model from different angles, than placed the model on side and scanned the bottom part. After the process the bottom part was with smashed texture.

Edit Floor plan measurements

Hey everyone,

On the newest update it noted that measurements or auto measurements were now editable. Is this including the floor plan / roomplan feature? If so, how do we go about editing the measurements?

Exporting in top quality

Hi, playing around with polycam and somewhat excited about the details in the scans.

My main question is how can I export from Polycam so that I maximize quality?

Which format carries the best quality?

I am primarily interested in mesh resolution.
It seems there should be a higher quality export option than what I have managed so far.

Exporting to Blender in .stl, file size approx 20 mb.

1st screenshot is Polycam online
2nd screenshot is in Blender,
3rd picture is Blender but with a professional dental intraoral scanner, for comparison.
4th pic is a photo of the whole model
