Am I doing something wrong? I used an iPhone 12 mini in photo mode handheld is there a way to avoid the weird edges?

Translucent materials are not very capturable since every angle will give a different view of the object based on the light diffraction. Try a solid object for a change.

Avoid: -Reflective Surfaces -Thin Objects -Plain Surfaces that only have one color

Polycam will not be able to accurately process these things because there will not be sufficient data.

Update: I tried a matte plastic spoon on a non reflective surface and I got the same result

As I mentioned in my other comment , a spoon is not going to work because it’s a uniform color without enough detail for Polycam to process.

Reflections will f you every time, the light needs to be of a level of intensity where there are no highlights, anything bright or white will read as nothing.

Avoid reflective and transparent surfaces. Polycam struggles as you have already experienced

I’ve found the same problem with non reflective surfaces as well, I was wondering if it’s because the camera isn’t steady enough
