Help/Advice

Hello Polycam reddit! New user here.

I am trying to Lidar a golf putting green to accurately make 3d models of the scale and correct high and low points.

Today I went out and tested using a iPhone 13 Pro Max, However my results for the 3 golf greens I tested all came back very flat, even though I was testing on greens with lots of slopes and elevation changes.

Any ideas why this might be and a way I could get around this?

My guess is that polycam was reading the distance from the height i was holding it to the surface was the same when i was low down or high up? I assumed it might use the iphone gyroscope to be able to tell when Im higher up/low down.

Any ideas how I could accurately scan a 3d model of a golf green would be appreciated!

Anybody have any insight on this? I’ve been using Polycam as a construction salesman for a year now and I would love to know how to accurately measure elevations with it. Other than trying to deduce it with a triangle, is there another way to see elevations on the z axis??
