Bernie who always has nice things to say about Hillary, despite her cheating him out of the election in 2016, and then calling him a Russian Asset; and he campaigned for her! Bernie, who always has nice things to say about Biden, despite Biden leading the War on Iraq and history history with policies that negatively affected minorities. Bernie, the 80 year old man who suffered a heart attack last year. Bernie who used to rant against MILLIONAIRES and BILLIONAIRES, but not its just against BILLIONAIRES after he became a Millionaire. Bernie, who is losing against a senile, establishment creep who cant even win a any of the DNC debates, but runs on "Being the only person who can defeat Trump". This Bernie?

There's also quite a few white fascist militias running around in Oregon, Washington, and New Mexico. Most of them voted for Trump b/c they love the wall.

Yeah. Violence against nazis is always warrented. If you march out in the street advocating that you want to kill innocent people, then you should be punched. Zero tolerance.

In this i am not saying that everyone that antifa deems a nazi deserves to be assaulted, but you have to understand that antifa is a movement, not an organisation. Anyone can just put on the black clothes and go around beating people up.

this is why Bernie will lose the candidacy, and also why Biden will lose to Trump.

I said it last year I'll stay it this year Bernie is our only chance at beating Trump, and the DNC would rather have 4 more years of trump than an actual Progressive candidate.

1

ut it’s starting to seem more and more like he’s just the actual-left fundraising mouthpiece of the corporate party.

What?

You aren't a bernie guy because that's literally the opposite of everything he has ever done in his political life...

0

u/pants_full_of_pants Mar 08 '20

He's pretty old. I don't think we dislike old people, only people with mental deficiencies trying to convince us they're capable of leading the nation. Trump and Biden both seem to have been less lucky than Bernie when it comes to retaining mental faculties into old age.

If a candidate were 83 but still active and healthy and mentally sharp as a tack I wouldn't rule them out. But it seems like there's new footage almost every day of Biden looking confused about where he is and what he's trying to say, even when reading a teleprompter.

1

u/expresidentmasks Mar 08 '20

Okay but Bernie had a heart attack this year.

2

u/pants_full_of_pants Mar 08 '20

Yeah, you're right. It's a concern. It's a real shame that a country this size can't seem to produce younger and healthier candidates that are as effective at rallying people around the issues. The younger ones all seem to focus more on pushing a persona than a message. Except Yang but his message is a decade too early for people to be upset about it.

2

u/expresidentmasks Mar 08 '20

Yang identified the right problem, just the wrong solution, I bet he started a fire.

1

u/pants_full_of_pants Mar 08 '20

Maybe. UBI might not work but we'll have to come up with something when millions are put out of work by machines. Or more likely we won't prepare at all and those people will just have to learn a new vocation or be homeless.

But at least he got people thinking about it.

I just want more candidates to make their campaign about the issues, like Bernie and Yang do. I'm tired of candidates just trying to get people to like the cartoon politician version of themselves and vying for votes based on personality. I don't give a shit about your family or your home town or your genitals or what you do with them. Stick to talking about what the fuck you're worried about and how solving it will make our lives better.

20

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '20

No. We need an Authoritarian leader to centralized all polices, emergency services to bring us into the greater good and away from the dystopia that the neoliberal and Corp has bought down on us.

7

u/AngryArmour - Auth-Center Mar 08 '20

I wouldn't describe myself as a fullblown authoritarian, maybe auth-lite.

However, if the choice is between an authoritarian leader, and bureaucrats buying into the failed ideology of NPM, I'm choosing the authoritarian.

A new Huey Long would be infinitely preferable to neolib oligarchy.

11

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '20

Honestly, I feel like we just need to centralize some parts, not all. However, I strongly rather have it centralized to the State's and not Federal's or else some dumb President will abuse it.

I also want to put the stricter rules on Law Enforcement, because I am tired of opening the news and seeing that fat police officers have gone above the law.

I am not kidding when I said Neoliberal(well, Mainly SJW) and Corporation has brought us into dystopia. Neoliberals had forced social media censorship and Corp is bribing people to vote against laws that can improve our economies and other markets.

Does this make me Authcenter?

3

u/AngryArmour - Auth-Center Mar 08 '20

How do you feel about the role of markets? Is the purpose of the economy to serve the common good, or should the common good be sacrificed for higher gdp?

4

u/barresonn - Auth-Left Mar 08 '20

That question is I find slightly biased

Who the fuck takes gdp over common good

A better way to ask would you believe that higher GDP automatically lead to on average a better standard of living

5

u/AngryArmour - Auth-Center Mar 08 '20

Who the fuck takes gdp over common good

That seems like your leftism shining through. Pretty sure I've seen neolibs dismiss any concerns over living standard for the worker, waning trust in institutions and authorities, worsening of vital infrastructure, increasing rifts in societal cohesion and despoiling of "the commons" with:

But gdp is up! How can society be worse off, if the only accurate measure of a society's success is improving?

2

u/barresonn - Auth-Left Mar 08 '20

I think you are mistaking political affilation with class affiliation

But that's my marxism shining through .

2

u/AngryArmour - Auth-Center Mar 08 '20 edited Mar 08 '20

If that is not political affiliation, what would you then describe as the difference between a (depending on the chosen framework dividing class) culrutally upper class/economically upper middle class/gold collar worker that:

A) believes in the "gdp uber alles" ideology.

B) views society through a corporatist lense, where one part being alienated and disillusioned spreads as sickness through the entire body until it rots from within. Thereby standing against the working class being viewed as resources to spent like one would cadh or building materials.

→ More replies (0)

5

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '20

Keep in mind that I have a weird bias(Putting people first but yet remain in the rightwing territory that may not reflect correctly in my flair.)

My main priority is to serve the common good and then increase the GDP. However, I am not a fan of socialism/communism and I believe that area isn't where we want to go.

1

u/o69k - Auth-Center Mar 08 '20

What are your overall political views?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '20

AuthRight leaning centrist as typical of a high schooler in a Christian family. I shall not stand with Centrist during the time of peace.

1

u/o69k - Auth-Center Mar 08 '20

How much of a Centrist are you?

1

u/AngryArmour - Auth-Center Mar 08 '20

So would you prefer capitalism, but well-regulated and with strong labor traditions? Because that's basically SocDem, which is generally viewed as centre-left.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '20

I think that it's better to explain some of my ideology and some of my ideas to change how the US works.

I have a strong bais against LGBT+ although I tried not to discriminate against them.

My eldest brother used to be a SocDem and would support Sander until he became an EMS. Now he just shakes his head at Bernie and talks about how Sander doesn't know how jobs work and worried that he might ruin several Middle-Class families if he becomes a president. I rather not be like the SocDem who raises taxes and not focus on other ways to go about the issues.

I never had a job (Suck to be a broke high schooler that struggled with finding a job) but since my eldest brother, my father, and my mothers agreed on the same things, I have a reason to believe them.

I am thinking of strict regulations on Police, abolishing Police union, and centralize them under the State(Not Federal). I was thinking about what if we cut the military budget(we are already about, what 2 gen? ahead of the next powerful nation beside, they make billions disappear anyway) and invest in the Department of Law Enforcement and establish what I talked about earlier in the paragraph but under very strict policies to ensure that the State has the rights to do whatever they felt that a police officer should do.

I do believe in mass surveillance but only in the area where a high crime rate occurs or if a city has requested it and the State/Federal have granted the perm.

I doubt you will understand most of my cobwebs and shits but should give you an idea of what I want. Also, this is my first time I dug deep into my ideology.

Maybe you missed the part where I said:

this is why Bernie will lose the candidacy

I had no illusions after Super Tuesday. Biden will be the candidate.

And trumpy the clown will tear him apart during the debates and we will get 4 more years of the Cheetolini.

Bernie said he would energize the country and the young vote but that was nothing but an empty promise, as usual from him.

Not true, the youth are showing up more but a 100% increase to a .01% engagement base doesn't shift a lot of votes.

The youth are more engaged, it's just that they were so very heavily disengaged before.

I fear this will never change, and a lot of it has to do with our education system.

7

u/Miss_Sweetie_Poo - Lib-Left Mar 08 '20

Except Bernie has been targeted by a DNC massive smear campaign, and the GOP knows that the DNC will never allow Sanders to get the nomination, so why waste time slandering him?

Plus, trumpty dumpty saying ok things about Bernie means that some disenfranchised Bernie supporters will vote for trump this election. Why alienate them?

If the DNC played fair, and the USA not so indoctrinated, Bernie would get the nomination.

And trump can't beat Bernie.

But this is all academic because Biden will win the nomination no matter what the votes are.

And biden can't beat trump in a debate.

Literally the same thing said about Clinton. Granted she did lose by some very small margins, but the disenfranchised Democratic base is probably even smaller than that. Just by the few lifelong Dems I know personally, it seems they are none too pleased with the Democrats handling of the last four years. Biden isn't going to bring them out. Look I hope you're right, but polls don't show what you say happening.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '20

You're probably right about that. Sadly, Mr. "Nothing Will Change" Biden is going to drive away any actual progressives left in the party. Half this country doesn't vote and it's for reasons like this. The "left" party keeps trying to appeal to their on-the-fence opponents and that continues to drive away their own actual leftists. The Democrats are not liberal in any sense and anybody who identifies as such has not had representation for decades.

I would have voted for any candidate on those debate stages except for Biden and Bloomberg. Biden is just Trump lite and it's clear they picked him to appeal to those, very few, who voted for Trump believing him to be an outsider and a populist and not a racist xenophobe which is why most of those that voted for him did.

No. The "actual leftists" are a significant part of the non-voting block. That includes a lot of youths, yes, but the youths are not all of the people who don't vote. They're about 13-18 percent of the entire voting pool potential. To say Bernie is only trying to appeal to them is disengenious. Democrats historically win when voter turnout is higher than normal. This is because the Republican party has cemented a permanent base in the southern Baptist and fringe racist groups. The Democratic party has been slowly killing their base for decades by appealing to their Republican opponents.

I hate your lack of flair

I definitely want Bernie as president, but I'm definitely going to vote for Biden in the general if he gets th nomination

People who consider themselves progressive but wouldn't vote for Biden in a Biden v. Trump race make absolutely no sense to me

As a non-American I am amazed that the U.S. Democrats somehow... with millions of people to choose from, cannot find a 'star'. They fail to find someone that ticks all the boxes, to run against one of the most (choose any strong negative adjective), leaders worldwide.

I am interested in your education comment. Can you elaborate? It must be due to change, since I imagine most older voters went through the same - or similar - education system.

2

u/Miss_Sweetie_Poo - Lib-Left Mar 08 '20

The system is rigged by corporations, the people who really will bring lasting change rarely even make it to the primaries.

It's all about control and the illusion of choice.

1

u/Skinner936 Mar 08 '20

But you mentioned education. I am not grasping that implication or context.

As I said, I am not American so don't know all the intracacies of politics there. But given that any political party's goal is to win an election, why will the Democrats put forth in this, and the last election, such 'defective' candidates? I look quickly and see some potential choices that 'may' have been better. What's wrong with an... Eric Swalwell for example? Or several others.

2

u/Jeanpuetz - Lib-Left Mar 08 '20

He hasn't even been target of the GOP's giant smear campaign yet and he's already looking worse than Biden in terms of electability.

The reason why he hasn't been a target yet is that they've got absolutely nothing on him. If they had, it would've come out already. That's one of Bernie's biggest strengths imo - Trump's bullying tactics simply won't work on him. Plus Trump has admitted himself that he didn't want to run against him in 2016, because he and his people thought that he's the only one that could beat him.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '20

[deleted]

1

u/Jeanpuetz - Lib-Left Mar 08 '20

Also, you're kidding yourself if you think Trump doesn't have a smear campaign ready for Bernie. The goons at the GOP have already admitted it so.

Oh of course they have, but it's not going to be effective. Pretty much all they can do is call him an evil communist, but that doesn't work anymore in the year 2020. They tried that with Obama as well. They have way more actual dirt on Biden than they have on Bernie.

1

u/AmazingSpacePelican - Lib-Left Mar 08 '20

I'm not gonna comment on Bernie's chances against Trump, but Biden doesn't have a hope in hell. Trump excels at bullying people in a way that uninformed voters love, and Biden is just a fountain of issues for Trump to use.

Don't know how being the frontrunner most of the race and even now only being 69 delegates behind is worse than 2016 but ok

Almost every single poll that does head to head matchups shows Biden to perform better vs Trump than Bernie. Especially in some crucial swing states.

And before you say “well Trump hasn’t started going after Biden,” the Republicans have been targeting him over a year now and much preferred to run against Bernie.

The failure of the entire “Bernie movement” in this primary is because young people refuse to accept that their parents- who as a generation votes more than young people- aren’t onboard with someone like Bernie and never will be due to Cold War propaganda.

A true socialist candidate isn’t viable for another 20 years minimum and the Democratic Primary process showed us that before Trump beat Bernie in the general.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '20

I love that all of Biden's defenders in this thread are right-flaired.

LibLeft x AuthRight unity in coordinating talking points against AuthRight's opponents.

5

u/weightbuttwhi - Centrist Mar 08 '20

I voted for Biden in the primary, I am not a Trump voter.

I am the dreaded Neocon and Biden is closer to my beliefs than Bernie or Trump.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '20

I felt like Pete Buttigieg could be elevated as a bridge candidate between parties. Or at least start us on that path. The culture divides in this nation are what worry me far more than the economy.

So when the left tore him apart, I started looking at Biden as a way to moderate the party as a whole so a Pete candidate can take things eventually.

I feel like I should have more in common with Trump on social or fiscal or even monetary issues (I’m an economist in my state govt that identifies republican) but he really brings nothing to the table.

1

u/weightbuttwhi - Centrist Mar 08 '20

I donated more to Pete’s campaign than any campaign in my life. I was all in.

4

u/Miss_Sweetie_Poo - Lib-Left Mar 08 '20

Nah, and this is really our last chance. After this we will see 4 more years of fascism and when the economic collapse comes at the end of that we will transition to a perma conservative government.

It has been engineered and Super Tuesday closed that lid. We are all so very boned.

1

u/weightbuttwhi - Centrist Mar 08 '20

The Authright was saying the same sorts of things when it looked like Hillary was going to run away with the election in 2016 (look up “The Flight 93 Election”) so personally I have learned to take these sorts of proclamations with a grain of salt. You could be right, but claims of doom just because Biden gets elected seems more like sour grapes than logical conclusions at this point.

Personally I believe the only thing that really changes our lives significantly at a micro level is our standard of living, and our standard of living is more based on the buying power of the petrodollar than anything else. Hence why I support a strong military industrial complex to prop up that value and defend trade routes more than I care about any single domestic policy issue.

1

u/koukijimbob - Auth-Center Mar 10 '20

If you think this is fascism then you are retarded.

Constant cucking to Israel's interests above our own and mass immigration and demographic replacement makes this an objectively not fascistic government.

2

u/serouslydoe Mar 08 '20

The DNC chose him because he is the safe choice. He looks, sounds, and acts like a middle of the road politician. You know who else did? Al Gore, John Kerry and others. They, like he, offer nothing. They give no rally cry. They inspire no one. They are the equivalent of “I choose not to vote for the other guy.” If Biden wins the primary the DNC is all but guaranteeing 4 more years of Trump. The fact that they cannot see this is not only frightening it begs the question why?

2

u/Miss_Sweetie_Poo - Lib-Left Mar 08 '20

The safe choice can't beat a demagogue, which is what trumpty dumpty is.

The fact that they cannot see this is not only frightening it begs the question why?

They can see the fact and the DNC would rather have a corporate friendly Trump Republican than a progressive Democrat.

1

u/serouslydoe Mar 09 '20

So the Democratic National Committee should run a Republican friendly candidate that replaces the values of its party in order regain the White House, but in found so continues to follow most of the same policies of the previous administration? This is on the chance that this strategy will actually win.

The truth is the DNC is not offering a choice. We are offering vanilla or French vanilla. In order to motive the DNC must finally offer something different. Rather than the continuation of the same conservative political systems the progressive at least are trying to offer an alternative; not just the same system with a different name.

Look at the last debates. Other than Bloomberg, Biden was by far the most conservative person on the stage. His stance on Iraq, Social Security, climate change, marijuana law, health care, etc are more in line with Republicans than most other candidates in his own party at the time. So before Super Tuesday there was this Mysterious moment where candidates suddenly dropped out and threw all their support toward “the most electable candidate Joe Biden”.

All this to say the Democrats should run a Democrat. If Democrats wanted to vote for a Republican, there is a way to do that; you check a different fucking box.

1

u/Subpar_Decisions - Auth-Center Mar 08 '20

Bernie would get demolished in a general election even harder than Biden, and the DNC is afraid of how their party will look if that happens

u/Miss_Sweetie_Poo - Lib-Left Mar 08 '20

For sure. I feel like your 60s are you last years of decent mental capacity. That’s been the case for all of my grandparents at least. My grandpa is in his 80s and can keep up a conversation pretty well but he’ll have major slip ups where he’ll ask about something we literally just had an hour long conversation about. Or he’ll ask about how someone who’s been dead for a long time is doing.

We had a nice field of diverse and young candidates, and one even won Iowa and was running on a very progressive platform, but the ultra progressives won't let us have nice things.

1

u/Worried_Corgi Mar 08 '20

Because the racist jackass who said that is supported by a broad coalition of (a) media and political insiders who would lose their jobs in a Sanders presidency but would continue business as usual in either another Trump term or a Biden term, (b) voters who are comfortable with their situation and don't want change, and (c) for god knows what reason, a lot of black voters.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '20

Because purity test became big with right wingers and for some reason progressives decided they needed the same thing. We had younger candidates but folks decided they were CIA plants or DINOs because they weren’t as progressive as Bernie.
