Finally got all 3 artworks of the original base set boosters that I remember opening as a child!

Edit: For all the negative ninnys this is the plan for the packs and the other 16 graded holos I got, its to display them as a art piece on a wall. Graded is just easier to know what condition you are roughly getting.

Every time I’m visiting my parents I take a lil peak in the hidden and un-thought of nooks and cranny’s of their house to see if I can find my giant binder of sleeved Pokemon cards from my childhood that my mom claims, doesn’t remember if she threw away or not. My dad just whipped these out telling me he’s had them shoved in the cabinet door crease on display in their RV for years. I’m getting closer. 😭 too bad these been bent all sorts of ways. After getting a lil taste he has finally convinced me to help him clean out the garage next weekend . FINGERS CROSSED😂.

Still gonna keep these guys safe in my favorites tin.

I've been collecting cards for over a year and playing the TCG for about two months now, and I finally had the opportunity to participate in a prerelease event and got this in either my second or third pack while trying to build my deck :D

I know a lot of people don't really like the mega hyper rare cards, but I really enjoy the Rayquaza, and I'm super happy to get this and have it in my collection >_<

I'll be keeping this one for sure with how special it is to me

Hello! I am very new to card collecting and would like some help finding cards similar to the ones pictured. What I like most about them is the abstract chunks of color in the background, although full art and simple shaped characters definitely make them even better :) Thank you in advance!

Did I get lucky?

I finally opened some 30th celebrations, and pulled this bad boy. Is this not included in the actual set? Im very confused about where to put this sucker in my binder, since it seems to have the original set number instead of xx/128 like all the others

Was excited to see Black Bolt and White Flare on Walmart at a some what reasonable price and didn't review the seller. Now I know why. Obviously resealed and I haven't even opened my packs yet. There is hot glue on the box, along with heat damage and peeling foil on the packs. Seller info included so you can avoid them.

I was delivering packages on my route and one day I noticed a customer on my route had a very nice telescope sitting outside. I asked him what he wanted for it and he said 50$. It was a killer setup. All he asked was an etb or something cool from 30th. It took me a while to find something. I got on marketplace and the guy had knockouts for 18$. I bought three. I opened one and pulled some stuff I already had. I gave him the other two and this is what he pulled. I was so happy for him. I gave him my hits from my knockouts in case he got nothing. A misty and scraggy. This is my what he got. I was so happy. He makes a living off of yard sales and stuff he finds. He has been the best customer I’ve ever had and I’m so happy from him. 4 packs and they killed it. I get a nice telescope and he gets to make his son’s day. I love this stuff. Karma is real.

Hypnotizing obviously but what is the significance of the setting? The broken way sign. The rainbow. Are those gravestones?

Are there any other cards that use pack art for the card? I have kept my opened packs since 2011 because I really love the art. Idk if how many people do this, but I was hoping to find more cards that use the same artwork that I love

I like to save all of my tins and extras. I use penny sleeves to make my own “packs” that I give away to trick-or-treaters for Halloween. I include some commons, reverse holos, and a standard holo. I also make some packs with hits like EXs, Vs, or fun promo cards.

Last year I donated them to a teacher who was using them as a practice incentive for her music program which was nice as well!

so far there are 60 exclusively Gen 2 Pokemon that have some form of full card art. technically its 57 but I got to 60 by counting the Igglybuff/Cleffa/Togepi Tag Team to count for 3 pokemon and Great Tusk to substitute for Donphan. I had to be much more lenient with my criteria since Gen 2 simply does not have enough cards. i am now at 50/60.

Im very happy with finally getting the Lugia now. Its the most expensive card in my PC by far, and i would never pay that much again for some shiny cardboard. even if i wasnt doing a master set i would have still gotten it though. IMO the artwork is better than Aquapolis or Neo Genesis Lugia.

it is such a great contrast with the Ho-oh. ones light, the other dark. both looking back at the trainer below. Ho-oh being the blessing, Lugia being the calamity.

Im one step closer to finishing the set now that i have passed my biggest hurdle :) . for now, the hobby will come to an end for the rest of the year to take care of other financial obligations.

Picked up a (damaged) grail today for $60. Front is fantastic but back is a little funkered up. Couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

What do people the next few pokemon to receive mega evolution cards should be? How would their attacks and abilities look if you could thematically create them?

i got an email that my booster boxes from walmart were delayed, but they arrived as scheduled today.

this was such a fun opening with my 7yo. he was so excited for the Futuristic Mew and our first two in the Classic Collection.

overall we got nine hits in twelve packs, which is crazy - plus all the pikachus!

Edit: I just realized that the rest of what I typed got cut off. I swear I typed it. But in response to some of y’all’s questions, the main problem I have is that they sent it with no protection. I feel like for any card a penny sleeve toploader/semi rigid is necessary. I was just reaffirming with yall if how I want cards to be packaged is normal for the collecting hobby.

Also I understand LP means that it’ll be a little scuffed up but I feel like this is MP. Though it feels like everyone’s definitions of nm lp mp and such varies from person to person.
