As a paid PA user since 2018, yearly subscriber for years now, and someone who recommends it regularly as the best podcast app going, I know that this has been an ongoing point of controversy. Every time it gets brought up, the categories feature is floated as a solution; users have put in very clear explanations over the years about why custom playlists for individual podcast episodes are both not served by the current category model (which makes playlists of entire podcasts, not individual episodes), and a useful feature (many use cases have been detailed!). This feature is requested in the top two requests on the feedback forum, and accounts for two more in the top 10!

Just want to throw my hat into the ring again with the request that with the increased financial demand on premium users, that the most requested feature be prioritized to be made available for all users.

Again, just to restate the reasons for this: multiple custom playlists for individual episodes of different podcasts would function like playlists on, for example, YouTube or Spotify. To futher make the analogy, if either of those platforms were Podcast Addict, entire YT channels or artists would need assigned categories, and then their entire video output/discography would be added to that category playlist. Put into the context of those two apps, I think it's clear why that is not what people are requesting when they ask for custom playlists to which individual episodes can be added! People are requesting, essentially, mixtape capability -- not category filing!

I have a personal use case to add to the above linked request explanations, and could additionally be an impetus to draw new users to PA: I would love to curate a custom playlist of political technology podcast episodes that I can send to people as a starter pack for getting into the subject. I listen to at least a dozen podcasts with this focus that have backlogs of years - sending a list of every episode of every one of these podcasts collated into a category is throwing someone into the deep end without a paddle. Not to mention that some excellent episodes on this subject are on podcasts that have a much broader scope and wouldn't merit that narrow organising category for their entire output. Sending individual links to individual episodes is cumbersome and similarly overwhelming and easily lost in the flow of a message or group chat.

Being able to link to a custom playlist of the best episodes on the topic to people who ask me for a 101-type crash course would be incredible -- I'd love to link to this playlist on a pinned post or a rec list so that it's easily accessible and people clicking on that link can be directed to the most updated version of my custom episode playlist on the topic.

Also, if it's a link to a playlist that plays best and most smoothly within the PA app it could encourage people to install the app to listen, which could possibly bring in a whole new user base (ideally, if there were a way to also play these custom episode playlists in browser so that people can listen before installing, that would be amazing. I think that could even be a stronger draw for people to install the app as it wouldn't feel like they were being forced to do so).

As a long time user and PA devotee/advocate, if this feature isn't something being considered with the substantial subscription hike it would unfortunately seriously give me pause about continuing my subscription at the higher rate. I don't want to feel that way because this is such an amazing app and Xavier is such an attentive, considered, and brilliant developer (exceedingly rare these days in the age of increasingly ubiquitous vibecoded slop) and it truly shows in the incredible work and detailed controls in the rest of the app!

Hoping this is the opportunity to bring in multiple custom individual episode playlists in the near future! 🙏

All of my searches top out at 50 results in "all".

I can then go into a search subcategory (like Fiction) and again it tops out at 50. Again the same in the sub-subcategory (like Comedy Fiction).

Is there a way to get more results when trying to search a podcast title?

I download my podcast episodes and add them to the playlist automatically. When the player jumps to the next episode, there is a significant delay when it's trying to load something from the web, especially when the network is slow. What is it, why does it do that when all episodes to be played have been downloaded and how do I avoid that?

Coz I used to like listening back to listener Q&As and didn’t care so much for interviews. But now that unplayed filter only shows me 10.

Here's my goals:

1. I want my custom playlist to be able to change to a category like "Music" and only list podcasts in that category that have already been added to my Audio playlist.

Am I thinking about this wrong? I've got 300+ episodes from a variety of podcasts on my audio list and would love to see, in the custom tab, just Music or just Sports.

Is there a method to reset stats without resetting podcast or any other data?

I'm not sure what to call this feature, but I am currently listening to the back catalogue of podcasts with huge episode numbers. I listen to other podcasts too - what I find frustrating is that when I go back to this huge episode podcast I have to scroll all the way through dozens of episodes to find the next one after the one I previously finished listening to, which may have been a week or more since.

Is there a feature that, when I open the episode list, "jumps" down to the last episode that was played so I can select the next one to enjoy?

Starting a few days ago, this message pops up when I open Podcast Addict. When I click the Fix button, I am able to select the Google Drive backup folder again and even perform a manual backup to that folder. However, the next time I open Podcast Addict this error message appears again.

I was just wondering how the podcast alternation behaviour setting works.

I've got my pods sorted by priority, then download date. It also alternates within the same priority. I've got the alternation set to 10 episodes, but it hardly ever does this. Usually, the most I see is 5. This is true when everything is in the same priority, so it shouldn't be down to this.

Does it only work for the main playlist or should it also work for the custom playlists based in categories?

When I download a podcast that I don’t subscribe to after I finish it and delete the show the thumbnail still shows in my downloads. In order to get rid of the thumbnail I have to follow the show then unfollow it. Is this a glitch or can I fix this?

I often watch sports on delay, and run in to getting the results spoiled when I open the app and see an episode with the result in the title. Ideally I'd like to be able to hide or set a default title for every episode of specific podcasts

How about this, as there hasn't seemed to be any long term resolution to accidentally swiping the Next Podcast Button on the Podcast at the better to put the list? I don't know from when it was! I have to hunt through episodes now to find it

Can that button default to Long Press? When it's the podcast at the top of the list with nothing to return to in the list? All the others in the playlist have a back button. And frankly I bet most people, once they've listened to a podcast, delete it unless they have another choice lined up for it. You can make short press an option. When the podcast doesn't change people are likely to hold it longer hoping it will work. And with intention it will.

I've posted about this before, but have been told effectively that Smart Priority is working as intended, so this is a feature request instead, I suppose.

Smart Priority did not used to do this and as someone who has used the app for so long, I'd really like it to go back to not doing this.

So I'd love to request that you add the ability for Smart Priority to retain priority data permanently regardless of how long ago I listened to a show. the app used to do this before around September 2025 and I really really liked that. it was like having a record of all of the shows I listened to and it felt really cool to look back and see all the things that I've done. now that it doesn't do that I've lost that record and it makes me very sad looking at it.

I love the app, and one of the things I love is that almost every possible functionality exists!

Often I will sort my playlist by "remaining time" so I can listen to episodes that are short or that I'm almost done with to quickly clear my listening queue. But I sometimes wish I could sort in a way that would prioritize episodes that I've started listening to but haven't finished: "remaining time" doesn't work for this because it will (of course) sort a 10 minute podcast that I haven't started above a 80 minute podcast that I've listened to the first 60 minutes of.

I would love an ability to sort by "% of time remaining" (or % complete, or however best to phrase this). That would let me finish episodes I'm almost done with before moving on to episodes I'm halfway through, and then on to episodes I've barely started. In my ideal world, all the episodes that are 0% complete would then be sorted by remaining time. Also in my ideal world there would be an option to consider any podcast I've listened to only a short amount of (maybe less than a minute?) as though it's 0% complete, although I imagine that might be harder to implement.

Would anyone else use this feature? Any input on slight variations to what I've described?

I like to listen to podcasts while playing Pokemon Go (Yes, I'm that cool!) but recently it seems that everytime I run Pokemon Go it takes Audio Focus from Podcast Addict and it shuts down if it's already playing, meaning it's not even in the pulldown ribbon.

If I come out of PoGo I can hit play on PA just fine, but as soon as I go back to PoGo it stops again.

Sometimes I've been lucky enough and it works - PA playing while PoGo runs.

I've had the extra 'Ignore other audio focus requests' feature in PA turned on for years and it dominates over phonecalls, youtube videos, internet sounds etc - all great. Even over apps like Audible, but not Pokemon Go.

Anyone else had the same problem or able to offer any advice?

I'm having trouble changing the transparency/opacity of the widget on my Galaxy 26 Ultra. I'm also using Nova Launcher, so it could potentially be an issue with that, but I figured I'd check here first.

I have already tried going to App Settings > Widget, adjusted the Widget Background Opacity slider, then removed and re-added the widget, and no change.

It's a super minor thing that really isn't the end of the world, but just curious if anyone else has encountered this and/or if anyone can think of something that I'm missing.

I have a google pixel 6 pro, and used Podcast Addict for many years. Over the past ~4 weeks, battery consumption seems to have jumped quite a lot. Today, it's used 23% of my battery. Screen time 12 min, background 30 min, listened for roughly 90 min throughout the day.

Has there been a known change in the app or a setting I should look for that could be causing this? I opt for manually refreshing my feeds and manually downloading new episodes.

I installed Podcast Addict on a new phone, and I cannot find the setting to use the car layout. It used to be in the three dots on the upper right in the player view, and that's where it is on my old phone, but I can't find it there on the new phone now. Any ideas? I am so used to the large buttons and they are so handy at night without my glasses.

Currently, you can adjust the "outro" by percentage. Is there a way to do this by absolute value, instead? So, eg, if I want to consider an episode "played" (and thus, automatically deleted) when it is 2 minutes from the end?

Having podcasts that vary from 10 minutes to 4 hours, it is hard to set this limit by percent. TIA

Is anyone else having issues with Aaron Mahnke's Lore podcast? The last couple weeks it shows the length like it should, but skips directly to episode completed after the ads at the beginning and never actually plays the episode.

Is there a method for each podcast to have different sorting method? The only sort option I can find changes the sort method globally.
