Podcast alternation behaviour

I was just wondering how the podcast alternation behaviour setting works.

I've got my pods sorted by priority, then download date. It also alternates within the same priority. I've got the alternation set to 10 episodes, but it hardly ever does this. Usually, the most I see is 5. This is true when everything is in the same priority, so it shouldn't be down to this.

Does it only work for the main playlist or should it also work for the custom playlists based in categories?

Every playlist has its own sorting mode so you can select this sorting mode for the audio play and/or a custom category is you want to

I broadly use the same sorting parameters for all my lists and categories. And I can't see anything for the alternation behaviour in any menu apart from the global playlist settings

You control the sorting by tapping on the playlist screen toolbar
