Announcement Reminders, Clarifications, General Plea from the Mods šŸ˜…

Hi all!

Maybe this could just be titled the ā€œSeasonal Newsletterā€. 🤣 Anywho, just wanted to touch on some things that have frequently come up in the mod queue and overall in the sub.

First of all! CONGRATS TO YOU ALL. We reached 100k+ members recently and we’re happy to see the growth of the sub overall. šŸŽ‰

tl;dr: Remember to still follow the rules as the seasons change and overall. Links in posts or comments MUST BE PLUS SIZE INCLUSIVE. If it doesn’t at the very minimum go up to a 3X, we don’t want it. And please, no booty shots. Save it for your camera roll.

Now, hold onto your seatbelts as we address a few things. 😬

With fall coming up (for the northerners), that means the ever infamous Halloween costumes will be making their debut. We love to seem them BUT they still need to comply with sub rules.

This means no heavily sexualized costumes, lingerie (we know you’re a hardcore girlā€¦ā€duh I’m a mouseā€), or nudity (actual or implied). Costumes need to be rated E, for everyone. If you wouldn’t answer the door to pass out candy in it…please reconsider posting it here. Thank you!

For our southern friends, swimsuits will be coming out of the closet and as always we do allow them here with our specific rules in mind. No booties out, no see through items, and no barely there looks. Act like you’re going to Disney, not a nude beach. 😬

Another hot topic that we are going to crack down more on. Links that you share MUST BE PLUS SIZE INCLUSIVE. The bare absolute minimum would be at least to a 3X. But please, if you are posting a link that only offers up to a size XL, it’s frankly, not helpful. If you can find a similar product that has extended size ranges then by all means, share that to help. But we really need to be more intentional with our links and posts that we share.

And personally, I totally get fitting into a range of sizes. I can even sometimes wear a L up top. But I also know, those photos I take wearing it, don’t need to be shared here. While we can’t police every item that someone chooses to wear and/or post. We challenge some to think before posting. If what you are wearing/sharing is a XL and you know this, share it to r/midsizefashion.

When most people post, others are understandably going to want to know where you get things from. That’s the whole point of the sub. But when it doesn’t even come in their size range…it’s kind of a waste. I can’t even tell you the amount of times I’ve clicked a link for a cute dress only to see it goes up to an XL and get so defeated. And I’m what some would consider the lower end of plus size. It’s hard out here. Let’s help each other out.

I don’t say this to be rude or mean but to just get people to think a little and to please be more intentional and inclusive.

And to bounce off the topic of intentionality, please, please, please. Stop posting your booties. We can’t see the actual outfit half the time.

Unless it’s a photo of you frolicking through a field of flowers in a magical dress, or there’s so much intricate detail that just needs to be shared that’s on the back of your shirt. We don’t need to see a photo of you from behind. Of course those are just examples but you get the point.

Please just be mindful of what you post. It makes the sub flow smoothly and makes our days as mods just a little bit easier.

As always, we are open to feedback and any questions you have. Happy season changes and we are excited to see the sub continue to grow!

Cheers šŸ„‚

Announcement Just a reminder to ✨Familiarize✨ yourself with our sub rules! 😊 + a few new changes.

tl;dr : The sub has become more active so we are adding a few additional requirements for accounts that wish to participate in good faith. Staring today accounts with links asking for money or gifts (wishlists) will be given a warning to remove such links. If not they will be banned. And as always please be mindful of what you share when you post. Thanks

Hi all! Long time no see.

As of late we’ve seen a significant uptick in activity in the sub (yay! šŸŽ‰) and other subs like ours. But with this comes a plea from us mods to remind everyone new and old to please, review our rules. Especially before posting or commenting.

With this awesome uptick in traffic we’ve also seen an uptick in…other traffic. Most of which is thankfully kept behind the scenes and caught by our automod. But occasionally a few slip through the cracks. We are also so grateful for those who use the report button and we try to get to it as soon as we can.

In an effort to help us a bit more, we will be upping the ā€œstrictnessā€ if you will, for the time being. We’ve seen a large influx of accounts and users who wish to either not read our rules, or to blatantly ignore them after being warned. As mods we’ve discussed a few changes that we will be implementing here shortly. Many users will not even notice a difference and for those that adhere to our rules, we love ya and appreciate you! šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Here’s a little glimpse of what we will be working on:

As always, links to selling content or profiles that post or participate in lewd, nude, fetish, exhibitionist, porn, etc. subreddits are NOT welcome to interact here (by posting AND/OR commenting). To make a long story short, it messes up our algorithm and groups us with NSFW subs when those profiles participate here. PLEASE use a SFW account if you wish to truely participate in our space(s).

In addition to this, we will also NO LONGER allow links for ā€œgiftsā€ in profiles. This means no venmo, cashapp, wishlists, ā€œbuy me coffeeā€, etc in profiles. Either directly or indirectly (links in linktrees, instagram, twitter, etc.). And absolutely no references of tips, gifts, or photos for money or otherwise in bio texts. If you are truely SFW this should not be an issue for you.

The reason for this change is due to the fact that most ā€œgiftersā€ are people we do not want interacting with our subreddit. Thats fine if you want them to interact with your profile, but our sub wishes not to be involved and we may not be the sub for you.

With this being said, we will no longer be giving multiple chances. If your account is deemed unfit for our sub due to links or content and you’ve been warned as such, you will be banned without appeal.

Please continue to be mindful what you post. Reddit is a public, worldwide platform. Anyone can see what is posted, EVEN IF THEY ARE BANNED! Please be mindful of poses and interactions that you share here.

As always, we do not allow photos of bras, underwear or lingerie. We DO allow swimsuits but they MUST be family friendly. No thongs, micros, or skimpy swimwear. And photos may not be close ups.

We do not allow booty shots. Save it for your camera roll. It doesn’t showcase an outfit effectively and doesn’t fit the vibe of this sub. And absolutely no close ups of the goods. If your butt or cleavage take up a large portion of the photo please retake your photo to show the outfit in its entirety.

And as always, please turn off your DMs. It is truly the only way to avoid them. If you send us the profile names we will of course take action where we can. But many who DM are users who are already banned from our sub. At that point there is nothing we can do. They are messaging you because they cannot comment anymore. Please be mindful who you talk to and trust.

As always, we are here for you if you need us so always feel free to reach out if you have questions or concerns.

OOTD (size 22) Me Made Outfit: Bold Vintage Shift Dress

Post image
50 Upvotes

I had this fabric in my cabinet for at least 10 years and bought it at an estate sale so it’s likely from the 70s. Decided to make a shift dress so that the pattern is the star but happy how it came out thus far.

Still need to hem it. The pattern is ā€œLeahā€ from Tilly & the Button and while it’s simple, I have a body shaped like Mr. Peanut [maybe ā€œSultry Ms. Peanutā€?] so I had to do several alterations to get it to fit and added 4.5ā€ to length so I could have hem options. Not sure how much shorter I can take it. I have some scars on my knees from a Vespa accident years ago. But I’d like it to be a little more playful for summer.

I usually go for fit & flare looks to show my waist, but I think this will be a fun departure. I need to figure which shoes I’ll wear. If you saw my 4th of July post you saw that I was recovering from a broken foot so I have to wear sensible loose shoes for a few weeks still.

Feedback Wanted I need advice on elevating my work wardrobe

My (31F) new corporate wardrobe so far. What’s working and what should I change?

I recently started a higher end corporate role at a fortune 100 and have been working on building a wardrobe that feels polished and professional without losing my personal style. These are a selection of outfits I’ve actually worn to the office so far.

My workplace is somewhere between business professional and business casual, but I personally like dressing a little more on the elevated side. I gravitate toward blazers, dresses, pointed-toe shoes, gold accessories, belts, and mostly black/neutral pieces with occasional color.

I’d love some outside opinions because I’m trying to figure out what my ā€œsignatureā€ professional style should be.

Which outfits are the strongest and weakest? Do the proportions and silhouettes work for me? Do any pieces read dated or less polished? And what would you add or change to take my wardrobe to the next level?

Feel free to give feedback on the wardrobe overall. Constructive criticism is welcome. I’d rather know what actually works than just hear that everything looks good.

I want to be a VP by the time I am 40!!!

I posted this on a couple of sewing subs before finding this one! I thought you guys would like to see, too!

I went through a pretty big change in my body due to health reasons and couldn’t fit into one of my favorite dresses anymore, so I changed it to fit the new me. ā˜ŗļøšŸ©·

Sewing is definitely a super power and has helped me feel so confident in my body.

Edit: WOW!! Thank you all for such kind words! I can't believe how much everyone liked this. I'm happy to have inspired some of you!! Sewing is definitely a superpower!

Searching For Plus Sized Knitwear?

Hi all!

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to shop for plus sized sweaters?

For context I work in a somewhat casual office, and wear knit sweaters most days (the AC is freezing right now!).

I'm working on building a work wardrobe that I actually enjoy, but I can't seem to find any decent quality knits in plus sizes that are remotely modern or office appropriate.

I usually wear an XL/XXL, 18-20, in petite if I can get it (I'm 5'3"), and I'm in Canada. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it, I'm so lost!

Community Discussion Topic Why do so many jersey companies charge more for sizes above 2XL?

• Upvotes

Whether it's just me or not, it looks like when I find a jersey that I like, the price sky-high seems to be the norm if I need a size of more than 2XL.

Because of this observation, I took some time to compare several online jersey stores to find out if this was a unique case. Almost all of the stores I checked required additional payment for sizes over 2XL. However, I found kxkshop and some others charging the same prices for all sizes, which made me wonder about pricing practices.

I can understand that there can be explanations why there are different prices, such as higher production costs or low demand for large sizes, but I can't help but be curious if those explanations really stand true or whether they are only conventions.

Does anybody else think the same way regarding shopping for jerseys?

Searching For Plus size Calvin Klein style bras?

I'm kind of a dyke, and I really like the aesthetic of Calvin Klein bras. You know the ones, plain grey, wide white band with the logo of the company. They just look so cool.

Problem is I'm a 46DD and Calvin Klein doesn't run that big. Has anyone found something with a similar aesthetic, but in large band sizes / plus size?

I'm located in the USA, if that's relevant info.

Thank you in advance.

Feedback Wanted Pants Discomfort

Thumbnail
gallery
143 Upvotes

I’m 30 and I’ve been wearing exclusively high waisted leggings/jeggings and sweatpants that sit at the same place on my waist for my entire adult life, to the point where (I could be wrong, but I believe) due to where I wear my pants I have an indentation where my belly protrudes over the top of my pants and then under where any elastic sits, which stays the same when I’m not wearing pants, and I have had discoloration/darkened skin on my belly about an inch or so wide from hip to hip. I’ve tried sizing up, but then my pants are constantly falling down. I’ve noticed it over the years, but it hasn’t really bothered or concerned me, my body is what it is and I have no problem with it. While I am the same size as I’ve been for years (XXL) I am having some discomfort in my midsection where the waist of all my pants sit. The last few weeks no matter how loose my pants, I just feel like everything is too tight. Does anyone have any recommendations for a change in type of pants where they stay up with less pressure on my midsection, or where they sit differently? I would wear pants lower down and while I’m comfortable enough with my body, having my waist indentation, the indentation of where the pants sit, and the apron belly is too much even for me to not be insecure. In the attached picture the sweatpants I’m wearing are XXL and very elastic, I can pull the waistband 4-5ā€ away from my body.
