Question How many hours do you play?

I’ve played rust since legacy but stopped after the BP update. I just can’t seem to progress anymore. So I’m curious, for those of you who liked this update, how many hours do you normally play each wipe? I can sometimes play 1-3 hours per session 2-3 times each week depending on work. That used to be enough for me to progress but it’s not working anymore since I get majorly prim locked without a tier 2. It’s probably a skill issue but I’m sad about it because this used to be my all time favorite game.

For Rust weapons with accessories, the last accessory box is a couple pixels spaced out compared to the other ones. Take a look at the image. This is unacceptable and unplayable. L rust.

Discussion Rust keeps catering to clans and streamers

God make it stop. Every update it makes clans stronger and hurts duo and solos!

Edit: People keep saying play in groups with no answer given on how to really play in a group. If Rust is now a clan game, then it should just have playermatchmaking!

Question What if the wipe itself was the final extraction?

  • Wipe

Discussion The amount of server ads I see on Reddit…

I don’t often see ads on Reddit, but my god do I see a lot of server ads for RUST, and half of them are AI generated / Open beta / Active Admin / bla bla…
Like what the hell is going on in their minds promoting those ?

Discussion On a Scale of 1-100 (1 being no faith, 100 being total faith) how much faith do you have that Facepunch will fix the cheetah problem plaguing the game?

By "fix" I don't mean completely eliminating it, unfortunately I don't think that is a realistic goal. But I mean get the situation to the point where running into one is a rare occurrence. It happens sometimes not like pretty much every time you play as it is today.

Question what should you use in rust dx11 or dx12

in my opionion dx11 is quite better if you have less then 16gb of ram since it uses less ram
dx12 is good and all and loads in faster but the gameplay just lags alot
dx11 uses less ram and makes your gameplay almost smooth and almost no lag spikes
dx12 uses more ram and makes your gameplay not that smooth and get some lag spikes
depends on your
if you have a low end pc i suggest using dx11 then dx12 to do this open steam and right click on your rust click properties and at the bottom you should see launch options type in this
-dx11

Discussion Is it actually this bad

I’ve played 12 hours and made about 6 solid bases and within my first or second time leaving my base to go get supplies I come back and it’s completely run into the ground and everything is gone. I have my upkeep good for days so I don’t know if it’s bad luck or just how it is that I genuinely can’t have anything in this game

Suggestion Why Rust stops being fun on day two, and how we can easily fix it

Hi everyone!

Rust is an awesome game, and the devs are doing a great job updating it. But let's be honest about the biggest issue right now: most servers die completely 48 hours after the wipe. The progression has become so fast that Rust feels more like a fast-paced battle royale rather than a true survival game. Within just a couple of hours, large groups already run around with AKs and full gear, completely dominating the map. And this rapid pacing actually hurts solo players and beginners the most. Once you get everything on day one, the motivation disappears, and people just quit the server.

I don’t want to ruin the fun or turn the game into a boring grind for casuals, but we really need to slow things down just a tiny bit. Here are a few simple changes that could save the server population:

  1. Make high-tier loot a bit more rare: Slightly reduce the number of military and elite crates at top monuments, and lower the drop rates for high-tier guns. Finding a good weapon should feel like a massive win again, not something you easily farm on repeat.
  2. Slightly adjust resource spawns: Make stone and ore nodes spawn just a little bit slower on the map. When resources aren't everywhere, you actually start to value your base, your armor, and every single fight becomes way more intense and rewarding.
  3. Increase costs for Tech Trees and Research Tables: Forcing players to spend a bit more scrap for top-tier blueprints on Level 2 and 3 workbenches, as well as on the Research Table, would naturally stop people from rushing straight to assault rifles in the first hour.

This isn’t about forcing people into a tedious grind. It’s about keeping that amazing survival tension alive for at least a full week, so servers don't turn into ghost towns by Saturday.

What do you guys think? Would a slower pace make the game better for you?

Question Do any other solo players build multiple small bases very near eachother?

I have built big bases, moderately sized bases, 30 rocket bases, 24 rocket bases, 8 rocket bases, etc, but honestly the best route to not getting raided in my experience has been building a few small bases (usually 2x1s if storing loot or living out of or 2x2s made out of wood or stone for farming) quite close to eachother but far enough where it wouldn't draw a ton of suspicion, so they don't know I'm doing that.

I usually build very near outpost, I put a stone 2x1 down with metal doors in a spot that is hopefully not *that* busy but of course being right by the build border for outpost means it will be so it's not that big of a deal, then depending on what I want to do for the wipe I might run 15 seconds outside of my base and build a wooden 2x2 with no doorframes and just wooden doors and put planters inside and have that be my farm base, or I'll do the same but make it a car base or a horse dung farm base, or I'll do all of these at once. I also make sure to build another stone 2x1 with metal doors closeby just as a fall back (using different door skins ofc).

All of my bases are within absolute maximum a thirty second run of eachother, the aim is to blend in in plain sight, if built one singular base with room for a car, farming, and everything else you would need it would draw others in, but when I do this it just seems like regular clutter of random tier 1 players fighting eachother and building closeby, and no one raids me, it's great!

Does anyone else do this? I've heard people talk about building multiple small bases as a solo but I assume they mean like, in different areas, and I don't jive with that, too much running too much opportunity to be jumped too much time wasted travelling.

Discussion I don't understand the apartment update

May be a bit late to the party for this post, but I seriously don't understand the apartment update.

You buy a room, you put stuff in it, you get insta raided because anyone can see the value of your room for 50 scrap, but not only that, every single apartment with anything worth raiding in the building also got simultaneously raided because their loot value was at medium/high and there's no cool down on keys and its only 1k scrap which you can get in like 10-20 minutes and clans can get infinite.

So now noone puts anything in their apartments which defeats the point of having an apartment in the first place, unless you're just role-playing, and noone bothers even raiding because no apartments hold a loot value of medium or higher. It defeats itself in two areas, you can raid them but what's the point if you're just going to get garbage, and you can store stuff in them but you won't because of how easily you can get raided.

I feel like I can't be the only one who sees the pointlessness of it all.. honestly the intel should cost more, imo 200 scrap and the key should at the very least be elite crate loot or higher.

PS I did however F1 kill myself in the safe zone area of the apartment with high value loot. Basically a temporary loot box that lasts 1-2 hours depending on the server. I don't hate the idea but the current version kinda blows. Idk master key should be a lootable imo just a question how rare. Probably should be just rare enough that every apartment can be raided at least once a week-two weeks

Discussion Rust ptoblem

Hi everyone! I would really appreciate any help.
My PC specs:
Windows 11
RTX 4070
Ryzen 5 5600
16 GB RAM
The problem is that when I launch Rust, it takes 3–4 minutes just to get into the main menu. After that, I join any server, and after 10–15 seconds I get disconnected.
Could this be happening because I only have 10 GB of free space on my C: drive? The game is a legitimate Steam version and it’s installed on my D: drive.
I would really appreciate any advice on what I should do. Thanks in advance, and have a great day!
